Thermally assisted flux flow (TAFF) based on magneto-resistivity and ac susceptibility measurements is studied in a Ba(Fe0.91Co0.09)2As2(T c=25.3 K) sample in magnetic fields up to 18 T. In addition to the upper critical field μ 0 H c2 and the coherence length ξ(0), the flux flow activation energy U(T,H) has also been determined. The resistive transition width is proportional to μ 0 H, in contrast to Tinkham’s theoretical prediction. By applying Fisher’s model, the glass melting transition temperature T g, which occurs in the upper TAFF state and not in the zero resistivity vortex solid regime, is calculated. The onset of TAFF temperature and the crossover temperature T x from TAFF to flux flow are determined. By contrasting the ac susceptibility data with the resistivity data, considerable flux penetration appears even in the zero resistivity state, in addition to ac losses. The H-T phase diagram is drawn and shows weak pinning regime as the field approaches μ 0 H c2, and the strength of the weak pinning decreases to 0 with increasing magnetic field from 0 to 18 T.  相似文献

Earlier studies have demonstrated that pentoxifylline (PTX) and platelet-activating factor (PAF) can significantly improve the motion parameters of post-thaw human spermatozoa. This study has investigated the effects of PAF, PTX and their combination on cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) concentrations and membrane lipid peroxidation (LPO) in post-thaw human spermatozoa. Washed spermatozoa from normal volunteers (n = 10) were cryopreserved in Test-yolk buffer using a standard protocol. After 2 weeks the sperm samples were thawed, washed and incubated with either 1 microM PAF, 3 mM PTX or 0.5 microM PAF plus 1.5 mM PTX. Video sequences were recorded at 0, 30, 60, and 120 min for analysis of sperm motion parameters using the Cell Track Sperm Analysis System. Concentrations of cAMP were assessed by radioimmunoassay, and LPO levels were measured by malondialdehyde-thiobarbituric acid reactivity. Our studies indicate a time-course stimulatory effect with overall maximal stimulation observed in samples treated with the combination of PAF and PTX. The maximal stimulation of percentage motility compared to control was observed at 60 min in samples treated with PAF, PTX, or PAF plus PTX. PAF plus PTX stimulated straight-line velocity (VSL), curvilinear velocity (VCL) and lateral head displacement (ALH) after 30 min incubation. The primary effect of PAF was observed on VSL, while the main effect of PTX was on VCL. cAMP concentrations were 3-fold higher than controls in samples treated with PTX or PAF plus PTX. cAMP concentrations in PAF-treated samples did not differ significantly from controls. The impacts of large-scale, episodic sediment resuspension on the cycling of polychlorinated biphenyl congeners (PCBs) were examined using a spatially coordinated air and water sampling strategy conducted in southern Lake Michigan in the late winters of 1998, 1999, and 2000. We found no significant temporal changes in gas phase, dissolved phase, or suspended sediment PCB concentrations despite large-scale seasonal storms occurring before and after sampling campaigns. Only gas phase and suspended sediment PCBs varied spatially. Higher total suspended material (TSM) concentrations and fraction organic carbon (foc) were measured at sampling stations located in the near-shore region of southern Lake Michigan than at open-water sampling stations. Gas phase concentrations (ΣPCBg) were higher in the west (0.436 ± 0.200 ng/m3, n = 11) and south (0.408 ± 0.286 ng/m3, n = 5) than the east (0.214 ± 0.082 ng/m3, n = 10) and central (0.253 ± 0.145 ng/m3, n = 8) regions of southern Lake Michigan. Dissolved phase concentrations (ΣPCBd) averaged 0.18 ± 0.024 ng/L (n = 52); suspended sediment concentrations (ΣPCBs) accounted for between 4% and 72% (23 ± 4%, n = 52) of the total ΣPCB concentrations (ΣPCBT = ΣPCBd + ΣPCBs). Despite no consistent temporal variations in both dissolved phase or suspended sediment ΣPCB concentrations, there were temporal and spatial variations in the distribution shift between phases that can be linked to sediment resuspension, not a state of equilibrium. This study compared 212 lesbians and 123 gay men who had civil unions in Vermont (during the first year legislation made this available) with 166 lesbians and 72 gay men in their friendship network who had not had civil unions, and also with 219 heterosexual married women and 193 heterosexual married men consisting of civil union couples' siblings and their spouses. Married heterosexual couples had been together longer and had more traditional division of labor and child care than did lesbians and gay men in both types of couples. Lesbians in civil unions were more open about their sexual orientation than those not in civil unions, and gay men in civil unions were closer to their family of origin than gay men not in civil unions. This is the first study on same-sex couples with civil unions, and the first to compare lesbians and gay men with their married siblings. At a time of legal changes for same-sex couples, these results indicate that legalized same-sex relationships are related to visibility of same-sex couples to their family and the general public. Cerebral embolism carries significant mortality and morbidity rates. Middle cerebral artery embolectomies which have been carried out in man with variable results, have been reported by different authors, In order to define a time limit for embolectomies before irreversible damage has been incurred, an experimental embolus model was used in dogs. It was observed that embolectomy carried out at 2, 3, and up to 5 hours after embolism was relatively safe and effective. Beyond 5 hours, embolectomy carried an increased risk of death and morbidity.  相似文献

In 2 experiments, 52 undergraduates were administered the Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility, Form A, and were divided into groups with high and low hypnotic susceptibility (HS). In Exp I (32 Ss), time-to-location of a target in a visual search was assessed. For this task, the letter Z was embedded within either straight- or round-form letters. Results indicate that Ss of high HS were significantly faster than those of low HS in locating the embedded letter. Exp II (20 Ss) investigated performance on single- and double-digit arithmetic problems as a function of HS level. Ss were presented with addition problems and asked to complete them within 60 sec. Ss of high HS completed a significantly greater number of double- but not single-digit problems within this time than did Ss of low HS. Results are discussed in terms of the 2 groups' differing strategies or operations in the performance of cognitive tasks. A single crystal structure determination of the complex (C5H9N3)CuCl4 [henceforth I] has been carried out. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Cmca, with the cell parameters a=6.7053(5) Å, b=22.4171(19) Å, c=13.4173(9) Å, V=2016.8(3) Å3, and Z=8. In the complex, the anion is comprised of infinite zigzag chains of monochloro-bridged $\mathrm{CuCl}_{4}^{2-}$ units ?–CuCl3μ–Cl–CuCl3μ–Cl–CuCl3–? surrounded by the pyridinium-ammonium cations. The Cu ions are five-coordinate to chloride ions in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with the zigzag chains formed by corner-sharing polyhedra. The Cu ion is located 0.151 Å above the basal plane. In the crystal, there are four intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions, linking the CuCl chains to the cations to form a 2D-network. The resulting 2D-networks are further linked by aryl?aryl (π?π) interactions within the cationic chains leading to a 3D-network. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility data were fit to a one-dimensional S=1/2 antiferromagnetic chain model yielding C=0.44(1) emu-K/mol-Oe and J=?37(1) K.  相似文献

One possible consequence of increasing water temperatures due to global warming in middle Europe is the proliferation of cylindrospermopsin-producing species from warmer regions. This may lead to more frequent and increased cylindrospermopsin (CYN) concentrations in surface waters. Hence, efficient elimination of CYN is important where contaminated surface waters are used as a resource for drinking water production via sediment passage. Sediments are often characterized by a lack of oxygen and low temperature (i.e. approx. 10 °C). The presence of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) is not only known to enhance but also to retard contaminant degradation by influencing the extent of lag phases. So far CYN degradation has only been investigated under oxic conditions and at room temperature. Therefore, the aim of our experiments was to understand CYN degradation, focusing on the effects of i) anoxic conditions, ii) low temperature (i.e. 10 °C) in comparison to room temperature (23 ± 4 °C) and iii) DOC on lag phases. We used two natural sandy sediments (virgin and preconditioned) and surface water to conduct closed-loop column experiments. Anoxic conditions either inhibited CYN degradation completely or retarded CYN breakdown in comparison to oxic conditions (T1/2 (oxic) = 2.4 days, T1/2 (anoxic) = 23.6 days). A decrease in temperature from 20 °C to 10 °C slowed down degradation rates by a factor of 10. The presence of DOC shortened lag phases in virgin sediments at room temperature but induced a lag phase in preconditioned sediments at 10 °C, indicating potential substrate competition. These results show that information on physico-chemical conditions in sediments is crucial to assess the risk of CYN breakthrough.  相似文献

Complex nanostructures such as branched semiconductor nanotetrapods are promising building blocks for next-generation nanoelectronics. Here we report on the electrical transport properties of individual CdS tetrapods in a field effect transistor (FET) configuration with a ferroelectric Ba(0.7)Sr(0.3)TiO(3) film as high-k, switchable gate dielectric. A cryogenic four-probe scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is used to probe the electrical transport through individual nanotetrapods at different temperatures. A p-type field effect is observed at room temperature, owing to the enhanced gate capacitance coupling. And the reversible remnant polarization of the ferroelectric gate dielectric leads to a well-defined nonvolatile memory effect. The field effect is shown to originate from the channel tuning in the arm/core/arm junctions of nanotetrapods. At low temperature (8.5 K), the nanotetrapod devices exhibit a ferroelectric-modulated single-electron transistor (SET) behavior. The results illustrate how the characteristics of a ferroelectric such as switchable polarization and high dielectric constant can be exploited to control the functionality of individual three-dimensional nanoarchitectures.  相似文献
