A microgrid structure was formed on the surface of a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film with an original microfabrication method (termed SS processing) utilizing the stick–slip (SS) phenomenon, and the effect of this surface structure on wettability was evaluated. Microgrid‐structured films could be fabricated by two‐axis SS processing. Moreover, an arbitrary parallelogram microgrid structure could be formed by selecting the direction of the second SS processing with respect to that of the first SS processing. Both water contact angle and water sliding angle of the SS‐processed film were larger than that of the PET film. Hence, the SS‐processed film showed a petal‐like effect. Furthermore, the water sliding angle of the microgrid‐structured film showed anisotropy due to the pinning effect derived from the microgrid structure. As a result, it is revealed that a hydrophobic PET film with a petal‐like effect and anisotropic wettability can be fabricated by SS processing. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. An effective strategy is highly desirable for preventing acute kidney injury (AKI) to chronic kidney disease (CKD) transition. Thioredoxin-1 (Trx), a redox-active protein that has anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties, would be a candidate for this but its short half-life limits its clinical application. In this study, we examined the renoprotective effect of long-acting Trx that is comprised of human albumin and Trx (HSA-Trx) against AKI to CKD transition. AKI to CKD mice were created by renal ischemia-reperfusion (IR). From day 1 to day 14 after renal IR, the recovery of renal function was accelerated by HSA-Trx administration. On day 14, HSA-Trx reduced renal fibrosis compared with PBS treatment. At the early phase of fibrogenesis (day 7), HSA-Trx treatment suppressed renal oxidative stress, pro-inflammatory cytokine production and macrophage infiltration, thus ameliorating tubular injury and fibrosis. In addition, HSA-Trx treatment inhibited G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in renal tubular cells. While renal Trx protein levels were decreased after renal IR, the levels were recovered by HSA-Trx treatment. Together, HSA-Trx has potential for use in the treatment of AKI to CKD transition via its effects of modulating oxidative stress and inflammation.  相似文献

In this study, the Fe–Co alloy is combined with cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) and nickel (Ni) to form Fe–Co/CoFe2O4 and Fe–Co/Ni clad sheets and their energy-harvesting performance is evaluated. The Fe–Co/CoFe2O4 clad sheet exhibits an output voltage of 4.229 mV and an output power of 6.89 nW at a wind speed of 10 m s−1. The energy-harvesting performance of both these clad sheets cannot be quantitatively compared owing to their different thicknesses, which result in varying volume and distance from the neutral plane. Nevertheless, the values of output voltage and power for Fe–Co/CoFe2O4 are higher than those for Fe–Co/Ni (2.107 mV and 0.294 nW).  相似文献

Symbolic analysis of economic indicators and derived time series offers an advantage of transferring quantitative values into qualitative notions by indexing intervals of numerical data with symbols. While differences in the numerical indicators are routinely measured by subtraction, differences in the symbolic indicators can be compared via more procedural quantitative-scoring schemes, the complexity of which depends on the alphabet size. In effect, the similarity of symbolic data sequence becomes a subtle measure. Upon motivating principles of symbolic analysis, our analysis illustrates how the optimized numerical scoring for alignment schemes may reveal functional and causal relations among the indicator data. The approach of symbolic analysis is particularly suitable for data processing in economics, in which partitioning of resources, competence, information access, or knowledge representation is common by the methodological design.  相似文献

Ladderane lipids (found in the membranes of anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing [anammox] bacteria) have unique ladder-like hydrophobic groups, and their highly strained exotic structure has attracted the attention of scientists. Although enzymes encoded in type II fatty acid biosynthesis (FASII) gene clusters in anammox bacteria, such as S-adenosyl-l-methionine (SAM)-dependent enzymes, have been proposed to construct a ladder-like structure using a substrate connected to acyl carrier protein from anammox bacteria (AmxACP), no experimental evidence to support this hypothesis was reported to date. Here, we report the crystal structure of a SAM-dependent methyltransferase from anammox bacteria (AmxMT1) that has a substrate and active site pocket between a class I SAM methyltransferase-like core domain and an additional α-helix inserted into the core domain. Structural comparisons with homologous SAM-dependent C-methyltransferases in polyketide synthase, AmxACP pull-down assays, AmxACP/AmxMT1 complex structure predictions by AlphaFold, and a substrate docking simulation suggested that a small compound connected to AmxACP could be inserted into the pocket of AmxMT1, and then the enzyme transfers a methyl group from SAM to the substrate to produce branched lipids. Although the enzymes responsible for constructing the ladder-like structure remain unknown, our study, for the first time, supports the hypothesis that biosynthetic intermediates connected to AmxACP are processed by SAM-dependent enzymes, which are not typically involved in the FASII system, to produce the ladder-like structure of ladderane lipids in anammox bacteria.  相似文献

The photovoltaic (PV) power output might be frequently curtailed to maintain electricity supply-demand balance in future power systems. In our previous study, we proposed a new method for updating the battery energy storage system (BESS) charge/discharge and the generator unit commitment (UC) schedules based on the forecasted and actual PV power outputs. The forecast dataset was updated every 3 h (eight times a day). Although the simulation results showed that the proposed method could reduce the supply-demand imbalances, it was not clear whether the forecasted or actual values made contributions. Therefore, in this study, we propose and evaluate a real-time scheduling and operation method using the forecasted and actual PV power outputs assuming that the forecasted dataset is updated only once a day. Numerical simulations of supply-demand operations are conducted on the power system model of the Kanto area of Japan for one year. The results show that the previous study method has a slight advantage over proposed method in terms of curtailed PV energy and operational cost of thermal generators reduction, but the difference is very small, indicating that the contribution of the actual PV power outputs is greater than that of the forecasted PV power outputs.  相似文献

The effects of vanadium inclusions on the magnetic properties of non-oriented electrical steel sheets were investigated. The magnetic induction and core loss of test specimens deteriorated at a vanadium content of 0.016 wt%. Electron microscope study revealed that the deterioration was caused by the pinning effects of vanadium carbonitrides on the recrystallization of cold-rolled sheets.  相似文献
