Study of the structure of As0.3Se0.2S0.4Ge0.1 chalcogenide glass using the radial distribution function

In the present work, the structure of As_0.3Se_o.3S_0.4Ge_0.1 chalcogenide glass has been studied using the radial distribution function (RDF). Moreover, the effect of annealing temperature on the short range order of this glass has been investigated. The results revealed that the short range order structure of the as-prepared and annealed As_0.3Se_0.2S_0.4Ge_0.1 chalcogenide glass is close to a regular tetrahedron. The medium range order of As_0.3Se_0.4S_0.4Ge_0.1 chalcogenide glass is topology order. The topological structure of the medium range order can be described by the Phillips model. The structure of As_0.3Se_0.2S_0.4Ge_0.1 chalcogenide glass is stable in the annealing temperature range 324–523 K.

Hydrodynamics of gas fluidized beds with mixture of group D and B particles

The dynamics of a gas‐solid fluidized bed containing Geldart Group D particles mixed with a small proportion of Geldart Group B particles are investigated using pressure fluctuations data. Time series analysis, using a variety of nonlinear dynamics tools, shows that the slugging present with Group D particles can be suppressed by the addition of a small proportion of Group B particles. The power spectra and the auto‐correlation function are used for a preliminary evaluation of dominant slug frequencies. It is shown that the bed fluidized with the mixture of Group D and B particles behaves in a less periodic manner and is dominated by more random bubble motion. On the other hand, the correlation integral is used to analyze the chaotic behaviour of the flow, through evaluation of the fractal structure of the reconstructed attractors. It is shown that the bed fluidized with Group D particles is characterized by a combination of steady slug motion and irregular particles motion. The behaviour of the fluidized bed of Group D/B particles mixture is characterized by a single correlation dimension for a wide range of fluidization velocities.     

Decentralized Networked Control System Design Using Takagi-Sugeno (TS) Fuzzy Approach

This paper proposes a new method for control of continuous large-scale systems where the measures and control functions are distributed on calculating members which can be shared with other applications and connected to digital network communications.At first, the nonlinear large-scale system is described by a Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy model. After that, by using a fuzzy LyapunovKrasovskii functional, sufficient conditions of asymptotic stability of the behavior of the decentralized networked control system(DNCS),are developed in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). Finally, to illustrate the proposed approach, a numerical example and simulation results are presented.     

Radiodiagnosis of peptic ulcer with technetium-99<Emphasis Type="Italic">m</Emphasis>-labeled esomeprazole

Esomeprazole was labeled with ^99m Tc in high (up to ~98.0%) radiochemical yield. The optimum conditions are as follows: pH 8, 50 μg of SnCl₂·2H₂O, 30 min, and 2 mg of the substrate. The complex is stable for 8 h. The reaction mixture was separated by gel chromatography using such eluents as NaCl solution and, phosphate, citrate, and carbonate buffer solutions. Free ^99m TcO ₄ ^– and the complex were also efficiently separated by reversed-phase HPLC, paper chromatography, and electrophoreses. Intravenous biodistribution studies of ^99m Tc-esomeprazole complex showed high uptake in the stomach ulcer, reaching about 30.5% ID/g at 1 h post injection. Such a high ^99m Tc-esomeprazole uptake makes this agent promising for stomach ulcer imaging.     

Solid state reaction in sandwich-type Al/Cu thin films

Al/Cu/Al and Cu/Al/Cu triple layers with approximately 10 nm single layer thickness deposited on tungsten substrates were analyzed in the early stages of reactive interdiffusion by means of atom probe tomography. The first reaction product is found after 5 min thermal treatment at 110 degrees C and identified by direct chemical analysis to be Al2Cu. Surprisingly, we found a significant asymmetry in the reaction rate of the new phase with the stacking sequence: the thickness of the product grown at the interfaces, at which Cu is deposited on top of the Al layer, is approximately 1.5-2 times thicker than the other one at the interfaces at which Al is deposited onto a Cu layer. On the other hand, at both interfaces the thickness of the product layer depends parabolically on time. No precursory interdiffusion and no distinct nucleation process of the product are observed.
