Conclusions 1. The tilt of a building was caused by the accidential wetting of the loess bed, weakened by the presence of a significant number of excavations filled by loose soil into which piles had been embedded in a design violation, and by the poor quality of pile-driving work, which had reduced the degree of necessary soil compaction and the ability of the piles to resist loads.2. The method adopted to correct the tilt was adequately effective, and made it possible to reduce the tilt from 460 to 66 mm during the 3.5 months that the foundation bed was wetted.3. Under the given conditions, it was possible to eliminate further tilting during the wetting of the foundation bed with the stipulation that all excavations be filled with sand compacted to sk=1.65 tons/m3 and that piles be driven into the natural soil without the drilling of large-volume leader holes.Odessa Civil-Engineering Institute. Results are presented for complex investigations of the strength and deformation properties of soils in the foundation bed of the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater, which were conducted with plates and the testing of piles cast in predrilled holes. The procedure employed for the investigations is described. Piles injected into predrilled holes and their segments are tested to determine the friction along the lateral surface within the limits of bed sections that are, and are not prone to slump-type settlement. Actual compressive strengths are obtained for the bed soils along the lower surface of the piles, and also the resistance along the lateral surface.  相似文献

The feasibility of transmitting electric power in space to solar batteries of space vehicles via the channel of laser infrared emission is shown. Evaluation of the efficiency of solar batteries for the given type of power transmission has been made. Possible methods of optimizing the design of space solar batteries in regard to conditions of detection of energy of laser infrared emission have been discussed.  相似文献
