The Detection of Ferromagnetic Objects on a Background of Nonuniformities of the External Magnetic Field

Practical ways of increasing the noise immunity and safety of magnetometer scanning instruments are considered. Design progress on ITER port plug test facility

To achieve the overall ITER machine availability target, the availability of diagnostics and heating port plugs shall be as high as 99.5%. To fulfill these requirements, it is mandatory to test the port plugs at operating temperature before installation on the machine and after refurbishment.The ITER port plug test facility (PPTF) provides the possibility to test upper and equatorial port plugs before installation on the machine. The port plug test facility is composed of several test stands. These test stands are first used in the domestic agencies and on the ITER Organization site to test the port plugs at the end of manufacturing. Two of these stands are installed later in the ITER hot cell facility to test the port plugs after refurbishment. The port plugs to be tested are the Ion Cyclotron (IC) heating and current drive antennas, Electron Cyclotron (EC) heating and current drive launchers, diagnostics and test blanket modules port plugs.Test stands shall be capable to perform environmental and functional tests. The test stands are composed of one vacuum tank (3.3 m in diameter, 5.6 m long) and the associated heating, vacuum and control systems. The vacuum tank shall achieve an ultimate pressure of 1 × 10^?5 Pa at 100 °C containing a port plug. The heating system shall provide water at 240 °C and 4.4 MPa to heat up the port plugs. Openings are provided on the back of the vacuum tank to insert probes for the functional tests.This paper describes the tests to be performed on the port plugs and the conceptual design of the port plug test facility. The configuration of the standalone test stands and the integration in the hot cell facility are presented.     

Change in the hexokinase activity of the rat myocardial and skeletal muscle mitochondria and cytoplasm in fasting and on a carbohydrate diet

Our experience using the lateral simplified thoracotomy incision for most chest work other than operations requiring median sternotomy is reported. The incision provides adequate exposure, yet preserves major muscle masses and decreases the postoperative morbidity. Return of normal ipsilateral arm function appears to be hastened in the postoperative period. In addition, the incision is easier to open and close than the standard incision.     

Power regulation and distribution control module

Dynamics of cardiac and skeletal muscle lactate dehydrogenase activity following a single exposure to an alternating magnetic field]

Analysis of records of microscopic slides from 33 patients with pure squamous carcinoma of the bladder who underwent radical cystectomy and lymphadenectomy disclosed a 5-year survival rate of 48 per cent. This survival rate correlated closely with pathologic stage and histologic grade of tumor and was significantly better than for each corresponding stage of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. The favorable survival rate and reasonably low operative mortality rate support aggressive therapy of this uncommon lesion.     

Changes in clonogenic properties of bone marrow and transplantable mice tumor cells during combined use of cyclophosphane and biological response modifiers of adaptogenic origin

The clonogenic activity of tumors and blood marrow cells has been studied in experiments on CBA, BALB/C and C57B1/6 mice with the Ehrlich adenocarcinoma and Lewis lung carcinosarcoma treated with adaptogenic drugs of Rhodiola Rosea extract, a synthetic analog of Rhodiola phenol derivative, methyluracil and their combinations with cyclophosphamide. The extract and derivative are shown to protect the myelopoietic tissue from the toxic action of cyclophosphamide, retaining or increasing the suppressive effect of the latter towards clonogenic tumors cells. These data can be the reason for using the extract and derivative during the antitumor chemotherapy as biological response modifiers.     

Estimate of electrical conductivity of biological objects in water
