This work presents the dielectric properties of YNbO4 (YNO)–TiO2 composites in the microwave range. X-ray diffraction analysis demonstrates that the addition of TiO2 to YNO results in the formation of a Y(Nb0.5Ti0.5)2O6 phase. In the microwave range, the values of permittivity and dielectric loss did not present major changes with the increment of TiO2. Moreover, the addition of TiO2 results in an improvement in the thermal stability of YNO, with YNO63 demonstrating a resonant frequency of ?8.96 ppm.°C?1. We utilised numerical simulations to evaluate the behaviour of these materials as dielectric resonator antennae and it is found that they exhibit a reflection coefficient below ?10 dB at the resonant frequency, with a realised gain of 4.94 – 5.76 dBi, a bandwidth of 665–1050 MHz and a radiation efficiency above 84%. Our results indicate that YNO–TiO2 composites are interesting candidates for microwave operating devices.  相似文献

The effect of short-term storage on the protein, phosphorus and phenolic content as well as peroxidase and o-diphenolase activities of cut, harvested Jamaican yam (Dioscorea sp) tubers (D rotundata. D alata and D cayenensis) was studied. There was an initial increase in the total phenolic content up to the third week of storage followed by a gradual decrease to the sixth week. Phenolic content was found to be highest in D cayenensis followed by D rotundata and D alata. The activities of peroxidase (EC 1. 11. 1. 7) and o-diphenolase (EC 1. 10.3.1) increased steadily up to the third week of storage and thereafter decreased to the fifth week. The intensity and rapidity of browning in tubers when cut, correlated very closely with the tuber o-diphenolase and phenolic content levels while the onset of rotting correlated with the peroxidase activity levels in the species studied.  相似文献

Contracts play an important role in business management where relationships among different parties are dictated by legal rules. Electronic contracts have emerged mostly due to technological advances and electronic trading between companies and customers. New challenges have then arisen to guarantee reliability among the stakeholders in electronic negotiations. In this scenario, automatic verification of electronic contracts appeared as an imperative support, specially the conflict detection task of multi-party contracts. The problem of checking contracts has been largely addressed in the literature, but there are few, if any, methods and practical tools that can deal with multi-party contracts using a contract language with deontic and dynamic aspects as well as relativizations, over the same formalism. In this work we present an automatic checker for finding conflicts on multi-party contracts modeled by an extended contract language with deontic operators and relativizations. Moreover a well-known case study of sales contract is modeled and automatically verified by our tool. Further, we performed practical experiments in order to evaluate the efficiency of our method and the practical tool.

The aim of the present work was to develop a transient mathematical model focused on microalgae biomass drying, considering two phases: solid (wet biomass) and gas (drying air). Mass and thermal energy balances were written for each phase producing a system of ordinary differential equations (ODE). The solution of the ODE set delivers the temperature and air humidity ratio and biomass profiles with respect to time. The numerical results were directly compared with temperature experimental measurements—for both phases—and with the biomass humidity content. Data from experiment 1 were used to carry out the mathematical model adjustment, whereas data from experiment 2 were used for the experimental validation of the model. The model was adjusted by proposing a new correlation for the mass transfer coefficient and by calibrating the heat transfer coefficient. The transient numerical results were in good quantitative and qualitative agreement with the experimental results, ie, within the experimental error bars. Then the experimentally validated mathematical model was utilized to optimize the following parameters: (i) the electric heater power ( ) and the dry air mass flow rate ( ) and (ii) the convection oven length to width ratio (L/W). The goal was to minimize system energy consumption (objective function). The optimization procedure was subject to the following physical constraints: (i) fixed convection oven total volume and (ii) fixed biomass and drying air contact surface area. For the oven original geometry,  = 3.0 kW and  = 9 g s?1 were numerically found for minimum energy consumption, so that 36.9% and 43.5% energy consumption decreases were obtained, respectively, in comparison with the measurements of experiment 1. Next, the numerical geometric optimization found (L/W)opt = 9, with and , which was capable to reach a 51.6% energy consumption reduction in comparison with the original system tested in experiment 1. The novelty of this work consists of the development and experimental validation of a physically based microalgae biomass drying mathematical model, ie, instead of using empirical correlations to predict the drying time and temperature profiles and then minimize system energy consumption. Therefore, the results show that it is reasonable to state that the model could be used to design, control, and optimize drying systems with configurations similar to the one analyzed in this study.  相似文献

This paper reports the effects of distinct contents of silica fume (SF), superplasticizer (SP) and water/binder ratio (W/B) in mortars. Samples with SF (0–10 wt%), SP (1.0–1.2 wt%) and W/B ratio (0.30–0.35) were produced. Flow table test and rheometry were used as parameters to formulate mortars by means of a factorial design experiment. Setting time, water absorption, apparent porosity and compressive strength of mortars at 28 days were also determined. Mortar formulations with lower fluidity are restricting when a rheometer was used. For higher torques, adjustments with the regressive equation of the Bingham model are less accurate, since the flow behavior is less constant. On the other hand, mortars with higher fluidity it is limited by spread test. The spread value on flow table test is more related to yield stress than to plastic viscosity. The design experiments identified the main factors (SF, SP and W/B) and their interactions for all properties on the fresh and hardened state, showing that experimental design with multiple regression equations is an appropriate tool to be applied in this case. Water content was the controlling parameter for practically all properties studied.  相似文献

High purity iron has been implanted with relatively high (ca. 5 at.%) surface concentrations of argon by means of ion implantation. Using electrometric reduction it has been shown that at some stage during or after the implantation process the natural air-formed film on the iron is thickened, producing an oxide film comparable to a thermally grown film formed at low oxygen partial pressure (~ 30μN m?2) at 475K. The factor responsible for this enhanced film growth has not been identified. Using a three sweep potentiokinetic polarization technique it has also been shown that once the thickened air formed film is removed by cathodic polarization there are no significant differences between the polarization behaviour of unimplanted and argon implanted iron that cannot be explained by changes in surface roughness associated with the implantation process.It is concluded that earlier reports that the implantation of metals with inert species such as argon confers enhanced corrosion resistance may be attributed to the thickening of the air-formed oxide film and not to the presence of the implant species per se. Furthermore, in the investigation of the effect of implantation of more active implant species it is necessary to take account of the film thickening that occurs during implantation.  相似文献

Variance components and predicted sire values were estimated using 305-d projected and unprojected milk records of varying lengths. Original data consisted of 15,512 lactation records of daughters of 138 Jamaica Hope sires that calved between 1969 and 1981 in 38 commercial dairy herds in Jamaica. Classification of records had little effect on components of variance. Herd-year-season variance decreased from 36% using all lactations to 28% with first lactations only. Sire variance was consistently about 10%. Cow component of variance accounted for 17% of the total variation using all lactations and 36% using all lactations of cows with recorded first lactations. Heritabilities for milk by Henderson's method 1 were five to six times larger than estimated from method 3 due to sire by herd confounding. Predicted sire values were between +400 kg and -400 kg. Rankings of sires with at least 5 progeny were considerably influenced by record classification, especially for sires with highest predicted values. There was less influence on rankings when at least 10 progeny per sire were used while the range in predicted sire values was larger using first lactation records only.  相似文献

When exposed to diverse growth conditions in vitro, cells can respond by entering states of proliferation, quiescence, differentiation or apoptosis. While the choices among these states can be influenced by proto-oncogene expression, how these disparate outcomes are achieved remains poorly understood. To address these issues, we have generated rodent fibroblast cell lines that harbor a human c-myc gene under the control of a tetracycline-regulated promoter. When Myc-induced cells are deprived of serum growth factors, they rapidly become apoptotic with the onset of apoptosis preceded by a large, transient increase in cdk2 kinase activity that is associated with the induction of cdc25A phosphatase and the later accumulation of p27Kip1 kinase inhibitor. Surprisingly, serum starvation in the absence of myc overexpression, (which leads to quiescence instead of apoptosis) also causes a marked transient elevation in cdk2 kinase activity, an induction of cdc25A and a delayed increase in p27Kip1. Transient elevations in cdk2 kinase activity and cdc25A abundance are required for cell cycle progression, but it is evident that these changes also precede entry to either apoptosis or quiescence in serum-starved cells. These findings suggest that the pathways to both quiescence and apoptosis share regulatory machinery with cell cycle control mechanisms. In addition, the abundance of Myc protein can be critical in the choices among these cellular states.  相似文献
