On the application of ion sensitive field-effect transistors for the investigation of corrosion phenomena Ion sensitive field-effect transistors (ISFET) are chemical sensors based on semiconductor technology. They exhibit small dimensions, a plane measuring surface and have short response times. Thus, they are very suitable for the determination of local changes of the pH value at electrochemical corrosion studies. The described in this paper experimental set-up allows in situ measurements of the pH value by means of ISFET sensors in amounts of liquids below 1 mm3; the active surface area of the material under test may be below 1 mm2. In model tests preferably changes of the pH value of dist. water due to the corrosion of steel St 38 have been investigated. After an initial short-time rise caused by oxygen reduction a decay of the pH value to pH = 3 ?4 was obseved. Furthermore, ISFET sensors have been used as a potential probe for electrochemical polarization measurements in low conductive media. It was shown, that the dynamic behaviour of potentiostatic control circuits may be influenced favourably by the low output resistance of the ISFET.  相似文献

Deviations from the normal tuning of a TJS AlGaAs diode laser have been observed. In the usual situation, the emitted wavelength of a single mode diode laser as a function of temperature is described by a "staircase" function, that is, the tuning curve consists of regions of smoothly increasing wavelength as a function of temperature separated by positive wavelength mode hops. We have observed a tuning curve for which the regions of smooth temperature tuning are separated by negative wavelength mode hops. It is suggested that this effect is due to the existence of structure in the laser's effective gain curve.  相似文献

Gap junctions are collections of intercellular channels composed of structural proteins called connexins (Cx). We have examined the functional interactions of the three rodent connexins present in the lens, Cx43, Cx46, and Cx50, by expressing them in paired Xenopus oocytes. Homotypic channels containing Cx43, Cx46, or Cx50 all developed high conductance. heterotypic channels composed of Cx46 paired with either Cx43 or Cx50 were also well coupled, whereas Cx50 did not form functional channels with Cx43. We also examined the functional response of homotypic and heterotypic channels to transjunctional voltage and cytoplasmic acidification. We show that all lens connexins exhibited sensitivity to cytoplasmic acidification as well as to voltage, and that voltage-dependent closure of heterotypic channels for a given connexin was dramatically influenced by its partner connexins in the adjacent cell. Based on the observation that Cx43 can discriminate between Cx46 and Cx50, we investigated the molecular determinants that specify compatibility by constructing chimeric connexins from portions of Cx46 and Cx50 and testing them for their ability to form channels with Cx43. When the second extracellular (E2) domain in Cx46 was replaced with the E2 of Cx50, the resulting chimera could no longer form heterotypic channels with Cx43. A reciprocal chimera, where the E2 of Cx46 was inserted into Cx50, acquired the ability to functionally interact with Cx43. Together, these results demonstrate that formation of intercellular channels is a selective process dependent on the identity of the connexins expressed in adjacent cells, and that the second extracellular domain is a determinant of heterotypic compatibility between connexins.  相似文献

Service life planning comprises a model for the determination of a reasonable expected service life for buildings and components, and it establishes a routine for the assessment of design alternatives. A design option is considered reasonable when it meets or exceeds performance requirements over time that have been drawn up specifically for the specific project. Due to this assessment reference, there is a very evident link to the concept of performance-based building. Any stakeholder involved in the value chain or in the design process of the building, as well as regulators and building users, can express performance requirements. Identified requirements, both in relevance and in quality, will vary with the stakeholder and his/her perspective of interest. As building sector manufacturers develop most products with reference to standards rather than with reference to specific requirements, there is no direct link from user requirements to the product design. Instead, the building designer has the responsibility to ensure performance requirements are met by the performance of products integrated into the design. As these design decisions also have to be made at the material and component level, a performance-based building would benefit from an established rationale that enables the communication of performance requirements across the relevant system levels in the relevant design processes. A path for the connection of the established concepts of service life planning and performance-based building is presented. The aim is to identify key elements that need to be developed for the successful linkage of performance-based building with service life planning.  相似文献
