Explicit constructions of algebraic-geometric codes   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We propose a simple construction of algebraic-geometric codes which are subcodes of Goppa codes and which coincide with Goppa codes in many cases. The codes we construct have the advantage that for an explicitly given extension of the rational function field, one can easily obtain explicit bases and therefore an exact formula for the dimension. Fuzzy clustering enables the simultaneous membership of objects in two or more clusters. This is particularly pertinent where time series are concerned, because very often patterns of time series change over time. Thus, a time series might belong to different clusters over different periods of time, in which case, crisp clustering is unable to capture this multi-cluster membership. In this paper, we adopt a Fuzzy C-Medoids approach to clustering time series based on autoregressive estimates of models fitted to the time series. We illustrate very good performance of this approach in a range of simulation studies. By means of two applications, we also show the usefulness of this clustering approach in the air pollution monitoring, by considering air pollution time series, i.e., CO time series, CO2 time series and NO time series monitored on world and urban scales. In particular, we show that, by considering in the clustering process, the autoregressive representation of these air pollution time series, we are able to detect possible information redundancy in the monitoring networks and then, decreasing the number of monitoring stations, to reduce the monitoring costs and then to increase the monitoring efficiency of the networks.  相似文献

Traditional and fuzzy cluster analyses are applicable to variables whose values are uncorrelated. Hence, in order to cluster time series data which are usually serially correlated, one needs to extract features from the time series, the values of which are uncorrelated. The periodogram which is an estimator of the spectral density function of a time series is a feature that can be used in the cluster analysis of time series because its ordinates are uncorrelated. Additionally, the normalized periodogram and the logarithm of the normalized periodogram are also features that can be used. In this paper, we consider a fuzzy clustering approach for time series based on the estimated cepstrum. The cepstrum is the spectrum of the logarithm of the spectral density function. We show in our simulation studies for the typical generating processes that have been considered, fuzzy clustering based on the cepstral coefficients performs very well compared to when it is based on other features.  相似文献

Permeable pavement systems (PPS) are frequently associated with high removal efficiencies for water quality parameters. Their effluent can, therefore, be recycled, for example, for sprinkling onto gardens. Nevertheless, some stakeholders fear that potentially pathogenic organisms within the treated run‐off could be too high, and therefore they request disinfection before recycling. The aim of this paper is, therefore, to assess the efficiency of a batch flow combined titanium dioxide (TiO2) and ultraviolet (UV) light photocatalytic reactor in removing water‐borne microbial contaminants from the effluent of PPS. Combined TiO2 and UV photocatalytic reaction times between 80 and 100 min were required for the complete removal of Escherichia coli, total coliforms and faecal Streptococci, which had mean initial counts of 1.5 × 107, 4.4 × 106 and 6.9 × 105 colony‐forming units (CFU) per 100 mL, respectively. In comparison, UV disinfection alone resulted in insignificant microbial removal. Suspended TiO2 powder was more effective than small immobilised TiO2 crystals.  相似文献

In Trinidad and Tobago, raw oyster cocktails are a delicacy, but they are generally believed to be responsible for illness in the consumer. The microbial loads of raw oysters, condiments/spices and ready-to-consume oyster cocktails were determined in four sampling areas. Questionnaires were also administered to 72 oyster vendors to determine practices that affect the bacteriological quality of the products. Three hundred members of the public were interviewed to determine the attitudes, knowledge and perceptions of the public about raw oyster consumption. The mean total aerobic plate count (TAPC) per g of 50 samples each, of raw oysters, condiments/spices and ready-to-consume raw oyster cocktails averaged from 1.0 x 10(7)+/-4.3 x 10(7) to 1.4 x 10(8)+/-6.4 x 10(8), 2.0 x 10(5)+/-1.0 x 10(6) to 2.0 x 10(7)+/-1.4 x 10(8), and 4.3 x 10(5)+/-1.0 x 10(6) to 2.2 x 10(6)+/-1.0 x 10(7), respectively. The difference for each product among the four areas was statistically significant (P < or = 0.05; chi2). Using a recommended maximum standard of TAPC per g of 5.0 x 10(5), 115 (57.5%), 27 (13.5%) and 51 (25.5%) of 200 samples each, of raw oysters, condiments/spices and oyster cocktails, respectively, were considered unfit for human consumption. Amongst vendor practices, source of oyster harvest and length of time between separation of oyster meat from shell and sale, significantly affected the mean TAPC per g and the prevalence of unfit oyster cocktail samples. Consumption of raw oyster cocktails was more prevalent amongst males (73.6%) than females (26.4%) (P < 0.002), East Indians (63.2%) as compared with other respondents (36.8%) (P < 0.001), individuals < or = 40 years old (82.1%) than in individuals > 40 years of age (17.9%) (P < 0.01), and in individuals who were aware that raw oysters are considered to be a sexual enhancer (86.8%) as compared to those who did not have this perception (11.3%) (P < 0.03). Fear of falling ill prevented 44 (37.9%) of 116 non-consumers from eating oyster cocktails, while 13 of 106 consumers (12.3%) reported having experienced an oyster-borne illness. The rather high prevalence of raw oyster cocktails found to be unfit for human consumption, coupled with the perceptions and attitudes of the consumers about the product, pose a significant health risk to the public.  相似文献

We study the complete conformal geometry of shear-free spacetimes with spherical symmetry and do not specify the form of the matter content. The equation governing the general conformal Killing symmetry is solved, and we explicitly exhibit the conformal vector. The existence of a conformal symmetry places restrictions on the model. The conditions on the gravitational potentials are expressed as a system of integrability conditions. Timelike sectors and inheriting conformal symmetry vectors, which map fluid flow lines conformally onto fluid flow lines, are generated, and the integrability conditions are shown to be satisfied. As an example, a spacetime, which is expanding and accelerating, is identified that contains a spherically symmetric conformal symmetry.  相似文献

Presented is a stochastic method of analysis of offshore towers subjected separately to random sea waves and to strong motion earthquakes. The Pierson-Moskowitz wave height spectrum is used along with linear wave theory to define a stationary random sea state as caused by wind generated surface waves. A zero mean ergodic Gaussian process of finite duration is used to characterize horizontal ground acceleration caused by strong motion earthquakes. For each type of loading, full fluid structure interaction effects are included in stochastic analysis. Numerical results for 4 representative deep water towers having heights of 475, 675, 875 and 1,075 feet are presented. Particular emphasis is placed on the maximum or extreme values of total transverse shear and total overturning moment versus elevation above the base of each tower. The results of the earthquake analysis are compared with corresponding design code values and the role of ductility is briefly discussed.  相似文献

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) double-directional spatial channel responses for co-located indoor measurements at 2.4 and 5.2 GHz using eight element uniform circular arrays are compared. This paper aims to provide a sketch of the ways in which ‘formal’ institutions of democratic representation worked in practice in Durban/eThekwini in the 2000-2004 period. In so doing, it assesses how the representation of eThekwini’s citizens functioned at both the ward and metropolitan levels. After outlining the formation of the new metropolitan political arena, we consider the relationships amongst political parties at Metro and Ward levels, and, in particular, explore some contextually specific forms of democratic practice which emerged through the interaction of proportional representation and ward representation over time. The election of councillors as such does not resolve a series of dilemmas concerning how to institutionalise democratic representation within a racially diverse, spatially divided, and rapidly changing metropolitan area. Electoral-representative aspects of a urban democratisation are not a straightforward ‘formal’ framework alongside which other processes of democratic discussion, mobilisation and contestation can be easily situated.
