The NMR spectra of olefinic protons in the four representative conjugated fatty acid methyl esters, methylcis-9,trans-11-octadecadienoate, methyltrans-9,trans-11-octadecadienoate, methyl α eleostearate, and methyl β eleostearate, were studied. The chemical shift of each olefinic
proton in these compounds was determined by considering their intramolecular environment. Coupling constants were also obtained

To achieve smooth real-world interaction between people and computers, we developed a system that displays a three-dimensional
computer-graphic human-like image from the waist up (anthropomorphic software robot: hereinafter “robot”) on the display,
that interactively sees and hears, and that has fine and detailed control functions such as facial expressions, line of sight,
and pointing at targets with its finger. The robot visually searches and identifies persons and objects in real space that
it has learned in advance (registered space, which was our office in this case), manages the history information of the places
and times it found objects and/or persons, and tells the user, indicating their three-dimensional positions with line of sight
and its finger. It interactively learns new objects and persons with line of with their names and owners. By using this function,
the robot can engage in simple dialogue (do a task) with the user.

Satoru Hayamizu, Ph.D.: He is a leader of Interactive Intermodal Integration Lab. at Electrotechnical Laboratory. He received the B.E., M.E., Ph.D.

artifacts. From 1989 to 1990, he was a visiting scholar in Carnegie Mellon University and in 1994 a visiting scientist in

Biological desulfurization using a bubble column reactor was investigated in a continuous biogas treatment. Rapid biogas circulation between the digester and the bubble column for biological desulfurization was used to stimulate the gas-liquid mass transfer of H(2)S. A positive correlation between the biogas circulation rate and H(2)S removal rate was observed. Moreover, the increase in the circulation rate stimulated the O(2) mass transfer, eventually translating into an increase in sulfate production from the oxidation of H(2)S. Throughout the continuous experiment, the reactor retained sufficient levels of sulfide-oxidizing bacteria. A comparison of the results of the continuous biogas treatment and batch tests suggests that the gas-liquid mass transfer rate of H(2)S was the rate-limiting step in the biological desulfurization in the reactor, indicating that the mass transfer efficiency of H(2)S needs to be improved to enhance the desulfurization performance. 相似文献

The radiation element method by ray emission model (REM2) has been improved by using the law of reciprocity for the specular view factor and the incomplete Cholesky conjugate gradient (ICCG) method to reduce computational time. This improved method was applied to analyze the radiative heat transfer between arbitrary three-dimensional bodies composed of specular and diffuse surfaces. The accuracy of the improved method was evaluated by comparing analytical solutions. And the method was used to calculate radiative heat transfer between machine elements and heater panels. CPU time to calculate the radiative exchange for a model composed of 3193 elements was reduced to 1/430 of that by the previous numerical method using a decomposition method. 相似文献

Atomically thin‐layered ReS2 with a distorted 1T structure has attracted attention because of its intriguing optical and electronic properties. Here, the direct and indirect exciton dynamics of a three‐layered ReS2 is investigated by polarization‐resolved transient photoluminescence (PL) and ultrafast pump‐probe spectroscopy. The various time scales of the decay signals of the time‐resolved PL (<10 ps), with monitoring of the populations of electron–hole pairs (exciton), and the transient differential reflectance (≈1 and 100 ps), with monitoring of the populations of electrons and/or holes in the excited states, are observed. These results reveal the characteristic exciton dynamics: rapid relaxation of direct excitons (electron–hole pairs) and slow relaxation of the momentum‐mismatched indirect excitons accompanied by a one‐phonon emission process. These findings provide important information regarding the indirect bandgap nature of few‐layered ReS2 and its characteristic exciton dynamics, boosting the understanding of the novel electronic and optical properties of atomically thin‐layered ReS2. 相似文献

Glucosamine (GlcN) is commonly used as a dietary supplement to promote cartilage health in humans. We previously reported that GlcN could induce autophagy in cultured mammalian cells. Autophagy is known to be involved in the prevention of various diseases and aging. Here, we showed that GlcN extended the lifespan of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans by inducing autophagy. Autophagy induction by GlcN was demonstrated by western blotting for LGG-1 (an ortholog of mammalian LC3) and by detecting autophagosomal dots in seam cells by fluorescence microscopy. Lifespan assays revealed that GlcN-induced lifespan extension was achieved with at least 5 mM GlcN. A maximum lifespan extension of approximately 30 % was achieved with 20 mM GlcN (p<0.0001). GlcN-induced lifespan extension was not dependent on the longevity genes daf-16 and sir-2.1 but dependent on the autophagy-essential gene atg-18. Therefore, we suggest that oral administration of GlcN could help delay the aging process via autophagy induction. 相似文献

Recently, much attention has been paid to investigate the latent heat storage system. Using of ice heat storage system brings an equalization of electric power demand, because it will solved the electric -power-demand-concentration on day-time of summer by the air conditioning. The flowable latent heat storage material, Oil/Water type emulsion, microencapsulated latent heat material-water mixture or ice slurry, etc., is enable to transport the latent heat in a pipe. The flowable latent heat storage material can realize the pipe size reduction and system efficiency improvement. Supercooling phenomenon of the dispersed latent heat storage material in continuous phase brings the obstruction of latent heat storage. The latent heat storage rates of dispersed water drops in W/O (Water/Oil) emulsion are investigated experimentally in this study. The water drops in emulsion has the diameter within 3 ~ 25μm, the averaged water drop diameter is 7.3μm and the standard deviation is 2.9μm. The direct contact heat exchange method is chosen as the phase change rate evaluation of water drops in W/O emulsion. The supercooled temperature and the cooling rate are set as parameters of this study. The evaluation is performed by comparison between the results of this study and the past research. The obtained experimental result is shown that the 35K or more degree from melting point brings 100% latent heat storage rate of W/O emulsion. It was clarified that the supercooling rate of dispersed water particles in emulsion shows the larger value than that of the bulk water. 相似文献

Recent advances in high-purity and high-yield catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CVD) generation of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) from alcohol are comprehensively presented and discussed on the basis of results obtained from both experimental and numerical investigations. We have uniquely adopted alcohol as a carbon feedstock, and this has resulted in high-quality, low-temperature synthesis of SWNTs. This technique can produce SWNTs even at a very low temperature of 550 degrees C, which is about 300 degrees C lower than the conventional CVD methods in which methane or acetylene is typically used. We demonstrate the excellence of the proposed alcohol catalytic CVD method for high-yield production of SWNTs when Fe-Co on USY-zeolite powder was used as a catalyst. At optimum CVD conditions, a SWNT yield of more than 40 wt % was achieved over the weight of the catalytic powder within the reaction time of 120 min. In addition to the advantages for mass production, this method is also suitable for the direct synthesis of high-quality SWNTs on Si and quartz substrates when combined with the newly developed liquid-based "dip-coat" technique to mount catalytic metals on the surface of substrates. This method allows easy and costless loading of catalytic metals without the need for any support or underlayer materials that were usually required in previous studies for the generation of a sufficient quantity of SWNTs on an Si surface. Finally, the result of molecular dynamics simulation for the SWNT growth process is presented to obtain a fundamental insight into the initial growth mechanism on the catalytic particles. 相似文献

An objective of the present paper is to experimentally clarify the torsion effect on the flow in helical circular pipes. We have made six helical circular pipes having different pitches and common non-dimensional curvature δ of about 0.1. The torsion parameter β0, which is defined by β0 = τ/(2δ)1/2 with non-dimensional torsion r, are taken to be 0.02, 0.45, 0.69, 1.01, 1.38 and 1.89 covering from small to very large pitch. The velocity distributions and the turbulence of the flow are measured using an X-type hot-wire anemometer in the range of the Reynolds number from 200 to 20000. The results obtained are summarized as follows: The mean secondary flow pattern in a cross section of the pipe changes from an ordinary twin-vortex type as is seen in a curved pipe without torsion (toroidal pipe) to a single vortex type after one of the twin-vortex gradually disappears as β0 increases. The circulation direction of the single vortex is the same as the direction of torsion of the pipe. The mean velocity distribution of the axial flow is similar to that of the toroidal pipe at small β0, but changes its shape as β0 increases, and attains the shape similar to that in a straight circular pipe when ,β0 = 1.89. It is also found that the critical Reynolds number, at which the flow shows a marginal behavior to turbulence, decreases as ,β0 increases for small ,β0, and then increases after taking a minimum at ,β0 ≈ 1.4 as ,β0 increases. The minimum of the critical Reynolds number experimentally obtained is about 400 at ,β0 ≈ 1.4. 相似文献
