Influence of cutting-edge errors on reamed-surface quality

In reaming, errors in the size and shape of the machined surface are shown to be mainly due to cutter wobble and the distribution of the deviations over the reamer teeth, as well as misalignment of the reamer axis.     

Final surface roughness in reaming holes

The reaming of holes in structural steel is considered. Machining conditions that prevent buildup on the machined surface are established. The benefits of fast reaming are demonstrated.     

Adaptive noise abatement in automatic cab signaling receivers

Under conditions of a priori noise uncertainty, it is effective to use adaptive noise-abatement techniques to improve noise protection of continuous automatic cab signaling (CACS) receivers. The purpose of this article is to study the possibilities of an adaptive signal-processing technique, adaptive noise filtration (AF), providing better noise resistance of the CACS signals. To achieve this goal, the following problems are solved: a mathematical model of the CACS receivers' input signals is developed, a functional circuit and adaptation algorithm of a basic and a modified multichannel CACS receivers' adaptive filters is substantiated, and a computer simulation of adaptive filters is performed, confirming the accuracy of the obtained results and effectiveness of such filters for noise reduction. A distinctive feature of the proposed filters, which significantly expands their functionality, is a priori information on the presence of breaks in the CACS signals used in the adaptive algorithms.

Adjustable Reamer Ensuring Scratch-Free Extraction from the Machined Hole

An adjustable reamer permitting scratch-free extraction from the machined hole is described. Formulas for the geometric parameters of reamers with diameters in the range 32–140 mm are presented. The results required for the development of design documentation are derived.     

Determining the Mean Frictional Coefficient in Metal Cutting

An analytical formula is derived for determining the frictional coefficient at cutter–blank contact, on the basis of the cutting equations and the shear angle, and is verified by means of experimental data. This formula may be used to calculate the cutting parameters, without constraints on the significant factors.
