MICROSTRUCTURE AND REVERSE SHAPE MEMORY EFFECT IN A Cu-Zn-Al ALLOY

The bainite structure in a Cu-Zn-A1 alloy related to the reverse shape memory effect hasbeen observed by means of TEM.The reverse memory effect may be improved by up to oneorder of magnitude under applied constraint stress.The widespread propagation of bainite wasconfirmed to be the diffusion controlled shear process by the parabolic configuration of sideinterface of bainite plate and the twisting of intersected bainite plates.     

Tunable Bragg filters based on polymer swelling

We report on the optical properties of Bragg mirrors and filters fabricated from photo-cross-linked standard optical polymers. The transmittance spectra of these devices in the visible to near-infrared spectral range were measured. We demonstrate efficient tuning of the filter peak of the polymer Bragg filters over several hundred nanometers by adding organic solvents to the surrounding atmosphere of the filter. This represents what we believe to be a novel tuning principle for Bragg filters relying on the use of polymeric materials.     

Field dependent amplitude calibration of adaptive optics supported solar speckle imaging

Adaptive optics supported solar speckle imaging requires the calibration of the source's Fourier amplitudes with the transfer function of atmosphere and optics. We present analytical models for the relevant transfer functions of an adaptive optics systems. The models include the effect of an arbitrary correction as well as anisoplanatism. The proposed models have been compared with observational data using measurements of alpha-Orionis and of the solar surface delivering both a direct and indirect method (using the spectral ratio technique) for validation. We find that measurements and model agree to a satisfactory degree.
