Abstract— A scalable manufacturing process for fabricating active‐matrix backplanes on low‐cost flexible substrates, a key enabler for electronic‐paper displays, is presented. This process is based on solution processing, ink‐jet printing, and laser patterning. A multilayer architecture is employed to enable high aperture ratio and array performance. These backplanes were combined with E Ink electrophoretic media to create high‐performance displays that have high contrast, are bistable, and can be flexed repeatedly to a radius of curvature of 5 mm.  相似文献

Asymptotic solutions to countercurrent moving-bed exchange equations are discussed considering the effect of axial dispersion and interphase mass transfer. Existence conditions are derived by using perturbation theory in a properly defined moving coordinate system. The flow are ratio turns out to be a very important parameter and its effect on the exchange performance is carefully examined. In particular, the effect of interphase mass transfer disappears when the exchange zone becomes stationary. Applications are illustrated by using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Numerical solutions of the transient equations show that the asymptotic solution may be useful.  相似文献

We describe a canonical form of electrolyte solution systems for the mathematical interpretation of solidliquid equilibrium. The canonical form is obtained from the analysis of the algebraic structure of electrolyte solution systems and the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions for the minimization of the total Gibbs free energy. As a result, the mathematical role of solid species in the solid-liquid equilibrium problem is explained as a Lagrange multiplier of a sort of the linearly constrained optimization problem. This finding will add to the development of an efficient numerical algorithm for the simulation of electrolyte solution systems. Whey permeate is an ultrafiltrate of whey that is devoid of protein but contains lactose, salts, and other soluble low molecular weight compounds. These experiments compared cholesterol concentrations of blood plasma, hepatic lipids, and hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis of rats ingesting skim milk powder versus whey permeate powder. Groups of young male rats weighing 90 to 92 g were fed a casein-based diet into which skim milk powder or whey permeate powder was incorporated isocalorically. No effects of skim milk or whey permeate on plasma cholesterol concentrations were observed at any time during 5-wk of feeding. However, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase activity was increased by either skim milk or whey permeate feeding. Hepatic cholesterol, triglyceride, and phospholipid concentrations at wk 5 were unchanged. Plasma and hepatic cholesterol responses of rats to whey permeate ingestion are similar to those that occur with skim milk consumption, and plasma and hepatic cholesterol concentrations do not reflect necessarily an increase in hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis.  相似文献

A theoretical study for two solute chromatography when axial dispersion or interphase mass transfer is significant is presented. With a Langmuir isotherm the mathematical theory of the shock layer plays a key role in generating asymptotic solutions, from which one can deduce the effect of axial dispersion or mass transfer resistance. A full discussion is given for the existence and uniqueness of the asymptotic solution. If a shock layer exists, the end states satisfy the compatibility condition and it propagates at the same speed as the corresponding shock. Analytic expressions are developed for the case of equal Peclet numbers (or equal Stanton numbers) whereas for other cases the shock layer profiles are determined numerically. Comparison between transient solutions and shock layers demonstrates the validity and usefulness of the present study.  相似文献

A model of catalyst pellet regeneration is presented that accounts for the separate combustion reactions of the hydrogen and the carbon in the coke. The complete structure of the burn-off time with respect to several system parameters is given. It is shown that there are values of initial coke weight fraction and pellet size that give minimum burn-off time. The model indicates that the combustion of the deposited coke is limited by diffusion at higher temperatures than previously thought, and it predicts relatively high temperature differences between the solid particles and the fluid phase at low levels of conversion for some range of the model parameters.  相似文献

Rotational atherectomy is effective acutely in treating complex coronary disease, but less is known about its long-term clinical outcome. We examined the acute results and late clinical outcome in 178 patients undergoing treatment with this device. Rotational atherectomy was used to treat 240 lesions in 178 individual patients. Nineteen percent had multilesion or staged multivessel procedures, and 71% had AHA-ACC Type B2/C lesions. The procedure was completed successfully in 94% of patients. Major complications occurred in 6% (death 1%, Q-MI 2.8%, and emergency bypass surgery 2.2%). Clinical follow-up was available for 167 (94%) patients at 13+/-6 months. Thirty-five percent required additional catheterization because of recurrent symptoms or an abnormal stress test. Clinical restenosis was confirmed in 18%, and an additional 2.2% of patients had progression of disease in previously untreated segments. At the end of 1 year, 14% had undergone repeat target vessel revascularization. Cumulatively at follow-up, approximately 80% had avoided an acute major complication and repeat revascularization for restenosis. Rotational atherectomy provides excellent acute and good late clinical results. At 1 year follow-up, the likelihood of developing clinical restenosis or significant progression of disease was 1 in 5, and patients had a 1 in 7 chance of requiring revascularization because of restenosis. These findings are encouraging and indicate that rotational atherectomy can be performed safely and with a high degree of acute and late clinical success in complex coronary disease characterized by multivessel or multilesion involvement and a predominance of B2 and C lesions.  相似文献
