The optimization of the captopril treatment of patients with stage-II hypertension at polyclinics

To optimize captopril therapy of patients suffering from stage II essential hypertension under ambulant conditions, use was made of an acute medicamentous test with that drug. The long-term systematic therapy (for a year) was provided to 50 patients with positive results of the test. The long-term systematic captopril therapy in individually selected doses led to a decrease and stabilization of blood pressure, minimized subjective disease manifestations and improved hemodynamic characteristics. The application of the drug in moderate doses prevented the development of side effects that might require drug discontinuance.     

A trial of the long-term use of Sedacorone (amiodarone) under polyclinic conditions for the prevention of paroxysms of atrial fibrillation

Sedacorone (amiodarone) was given to 70 outpatients with coronary heart disease for 1.5-2 years to prevent paroxysms of cardiac arrhythmia after recovery of sinus rhythm. Sedacorone was administered initially in the dose 600 mg/day for 10-12 days, then the dose lowering was adjusted to the tolerance, heart rate and ECG readings. The minimal dose of 200 mg/day was taken for 5 days a week with a 2-day interval. In adequate individual dose Sedacorone prevented paroxysms of cardiac fibrillation or made the paroxysms less frequent in 91.4% of patients. Careful selection of patients and regular control helped avoid serious cardial and extracardiac complications. Sedacorone is recommended as a first-line medicine for outpatients with frequent paroxysms of cardiac fibrillations after recovery of the sinus rhythm to prevent the paroxysms recurrences.     

Urate clearance in the diagnosis of kidney pathology in children

Histologic studies can help disclose the design of the knife blade by which a cut wound was inflicted. For analysis, thick (25-30 microns) sections are made, parallel to skin surface near the ends of a cut wound. The ends of the wound formed by the blade edge and back are different, and some specific features of the blade back, primarily its thickness, can be distinguished. When the suspected knife is available, a valid conclusion can be made by comparing experimental wounds inflicted by this knife with the studied wounds.     

Treatment of congestive heart failure with beta-methyldigoxin (lanitop)

Methylated Digoxin preparation--beta-Methyldigoxin (Lanitop) was used in 50 patients with congestive heart failure of different etiology (tablets of 0.3--0.6 mG per day). Its employment proved very effective in the treatment of congestive heart failure. It is not contraindicated to patients with chronic coronary insufficiency with underlying athrosclerotic cardiosclerosis with signs of congestive circulatory insufficiency. Side-effects of beta-Methyldigoxin are mild and noted rather seldom.     

Characteristics of antilysozyme activity of Staphylococcus aureus in various types of experimental infection course

The connection between the level of Staphylococcus Aureus anti-lysozyme activity (ALA) and the character of the experimental infection course has been revealed. The subsiding type of infection was developed by infecting by clones with the low ALA and at the same time there was a shift in the structure of population at the final stage of infectious process to the reduction of its heterogeneity in respect of ALA and the preservation of the colonies only with the zero and low ALA. The protracted form of infection was provoked by the clone with the high ALA and the dynamics of microbial dissemination had rhythmical nature and a high heterogeneity in respect of ALA in the structure of population of staphylococcus was preserved and the selection of colonies with the high ALA was observed. ALA of staphylococcus is an important link of pathogenesis of persistence as it determines the duration and dynamics of the survival of the pathogen in the organism.     

The ultrastructure of the cord blood lymphocytes of newborn infants in normal and complicated pregnancies]

Ultrastructure of the umbilical cord blood lymphocytes was studied in full-term newborns with mothers suffering from toxemia (nephropathy) of the pregnancy second part and without any pathology, in part-term newborns and adult donors. Lymphocytes demonstrated in newborns were the same as in adults (small light, small dark, medium and large ones) with their ultrastructure close to that of adults. Morphometric analysis revealed signs characteristic for newborn lymphocytes. Second and third group newborns were found to have pathological changes in part of lymphocytes concerning both nucleus and cytoplasm and also some morphometric peculiarities. They are manifested as different in expression and direction in different types of lymphocytes of absolute and relative square of mitochondrial section and as signs of synthetic processes activation in all types lymphocytes.
