Endodontic treatment of maxillary and mandibular anteriors does not generally offer strenuous challenges to the skilled practitioner. Most cases are relatively straightforward and can be treated without complication. Anatomical and developmental variations do exist in these teeth, however, which can add an enormous degree of technical complexity, and even doom endodontic treatment to failure. The prudent clinician must be aware of these variations, modify treatment procedures accordingly, and inform the patient of these possible causes of treatment failure.  相似文献

Reflective displays are advantageous in applications requiring low power or daylight readability. However, there are no low‐cost reflective technologies capable of displaying bright colors. By employing photoluminescence to more efficiently use ambient light, we created a prototype display that provides bright, full color in a simple, low‐cost architecture. This prototype includes a novel electrokinetic shutter, a layer that incorporates patterned luminescent red, green, and blue sub‐pixel elements, and a novel optical out‐coupling scheme. The luminescent elements convert otherwise‐wasted portions of the incident spectrum to light in the desired color band, resulting in improved color saturation and lightness. This prototype provides a color gamut that is superior to competing reflective display technologies that utilize color filters in single‐layer side‐by‐side sub‐pixel architectures. The current prototype is capable of switching in <0.5 s; future displays based on an alternative electro‐optic shutter technology should achieve video rate operation. A transflective version of this technology has also been prototyped. The transflective version utilizes its backlight with a power efficiency that is at least three times that of a conventional liquid crystal display. These photoluminescence‐based technologies enable a host of applications ranging from low‐power mobile products and retail pricing signage to daylight readable signage for outdoor advertising segments.  相似文献

It is possible to link granulation rates to granule properties. The linkage is by multiple dimension population balance equations that, by means of simplifying assumptions, can be reduced to multiple one-dimensional (1-D) population balance equations (PBEs). Using simple physically based models, this paper demonstrates how multiple one-dimensional population balance equations can describe the results of high-shear granulation experiments of two different materials, calcium carbonate and lactose. Good agreement between experimental and simulated results was achieved enabling the granulation rates to be defined by two model parameters: the critical binder volume fraction and the aggregation rate constant. The modelling framework presented in this paper also provides a basis for the kinetic analysis of granulation experiments so that with further work, it is possible to determine the effect of process conditions and material properties on the model parameters.  相似文献

Further experimental investigation based on a microscopic, or single granule, scale has been conducted to investigate the uniformity of binder composition within a given size class for high shear melt granulation. This work assesses whether there is significant non-uniformity of binder composition within size classes to warrant considering this level of detail to improving population balance modelling of high shear granulation. It is concluded that at early times in a batch granulation process there is a broad variation in binder content between individual granules and that this variation persists in granules of small size.  相似文献

The photoinitiated polymerization of (meth)acrylate monomers bearing novel carbamate functionality exhibits significantly greater reaction rate when compared to more traditional acrylate monomers undergoing similar polymerization. This unusually fast reactivity has been the subject of much investigation. In order to suggest an explanatory mechanism for the enhanced polymerization rates we have conducted quantitative structure-activity relationship investigations of these novel monomers. These studies have resulted in statistically sound models with coefficients of multiple determination of R(2)>0.93. Principal component and k nearest neighbor similarity analysis were also conducted on the multiple regression models. These results are discussed in light of published experimental investigations of the photopolymerization reactivity of the novel monomers.  相似文献

Twenty-four patients hospitalized for overdose of a tricyclic antidepressant were monitored clinically, and serial plasma-drug measurements were taken for up to 144 hours. Six of 24 patients had maximum antidepressant plasma levels greater than or equal to 1,000 ng/ml, and their plasma levels at 96 hours ranged from 170 to 1,280 ng/ml. Patients ingesting substantial tricyclic overdoses may remain medically unstable for days. When high tricyclic levels persist, accurate psychiatric assessment is often impossible.  相似文献

Changes in chlorophyll concentration distribution in surface waters of the northeastern Gulf of Mexico (NEGOM) were examined using satellite and in situ data collected between November 1997 and August 2000. The patterns of chlorophyll distribution derived from in situ data consistently matched the satellite observations, even though the satellite-derived concentrations in coastal and offshore waters influenced by rivers were overestimated by the standard satellite data processing algorithms. River discharge and wind-driven upwelling were the major factors influencing surface chlorophyll-a variability for inshore regions. High in situ chlorophyll-a concentrations (≥1 mg m?3) occurred inshore and particularly near major river mouths during the summer seasons of 1998, 1999 and 2000. Plumes of Mississippi River water extended offshore to the southeast of the delta over distances >500 km from the river delta for maximum periods of 14 weeks between May and September every year and could reach the Florida Keys in certain years. The offshore transport of the plume was initiated by eastward or southeastward winds and then by separate anticyclonic eddies located southeast of the Mississippi delta and nearby shelf every year. Chlorophyll concentrations during the winter to spring transition in 1998 off Escambia, Choctawhatchee, Apalachicola and Suwannee Rivers and off Tampa Bay were up to 4 times higher than during the same periods in 1999 and 2000. This was related to higher freshwater discharge during the 1997–1998 winter–spring transition, coinciding with an El Niño–Southern Oscillation event, and to the unusually strong upwelling observed along the coast in spring 1998.  相似文献
