In the design of concrete structures, estimation of the deflection of the structural members under the service loads is often a critical factor. Strains and displacements are linked to the tension stiffening effect, which is not quantified in the standards. The CEB-FIP model code proposes an interesting simplified method for evaluating the concrete tension stiffening effect on reinforced concrete behavior. One of the parameters which enables the mechanical contribution of the concrete to be quantified is the effective tensile active section of the reinforced concrete beams. In this paper, a new method for calculating the effective tensile active section A ct.ef is proposed. The calculation is based on an analytical model of stress distribution in the full depth of the concrete section. An experimental study on several reinforced concrete beams is reported. The results show that the new proposed model enhances the accuracy of the beam deflection predictions significantly.  相似文献

This paper proposes a model of the mechanical behaviour of corroded reinforced concrete members subjected to bending under service load. The model is based on the formulation of a macro-element to be used in FEM analysis, having a length equal to the distance between two consecutive flexural cracks and a cross-section equal to the member cross-section. The mechanical formulation is directly written in generalized variables (bending moment and curvature) and is based on the concept of the transfer length necessary for the transmission of tensile load from re-bar to tensile concrete thanks to the bond. It is thus possible to take into account the effect of reinforcement corrosion on the bond between re-bar and concrete, by increasing the transfer length versus intensity of corrosion. The variation of the transfer length versus corrosion is expressed using a scalar damage parameter. A first experimental validation is performed on a 17-year-old beam kept in a chloride environment under its service load.  相似文献

Objective: The ability to select what is important to remember, to attend to this information, and to recall high-value items leads to the efficient use of memory. The present study examined how children with and without attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) performed on an incentive-based selectivity task in which to-be-remembered items were worth different point values. Method: Participants were 6–9 year old children with ADHD (n = 57) and without ADHD (n = 59). Using a selectivity task, participants studied words paired with point values and were asked to maximize their score, which was the overall value of the items they recalled. This task allows for measures of memory capacity and the ability to selectively remember high-value items. Results: Although there were no significant between-groups differences in the number of words recalled (memory capacity), children with ADHD were less selective than children in the control group in terms of the value of the items they recalled (control of memory). All children recalled more high-value items than low-value items and showed some learning with task experience, but children with ADHD Combined type did not efficiently maximize memory performance (as measured by a selectivity index) relative to children with ADHD Inattentive type and healthy controls, who did not differ significantly from one another. Conclusions: Children with ADHD Combined type exhibit impairments in the strategic and efficient encoding and recall of high-value items. The findings have implications for theories of memory dysfunction in childhood ADHD and the key role of metacognition, cognitive control, and value-directed remembering when considering the strategic use of memory. The main purpose of this research is to study the time dependent behaviour of a geopolymer concrete. The geopolymer binder is composed of 85.2 % of low calcium fly ash and only 14.8 % of ground granulated blast furnace slag. Both drying shrinkage and creep are studied. In addition, different curing conditions at elevated temperature were used. All experimental results were compared to predictions made using the Eurocode 2. The curing regime plays an important role in the magnitude and development of both creep and drying shrinkage of class F fly ash based geopolymer concrete. A minimum of 3 days at 40 °C or 1 day at 80 °C is required to obtain final drying shrinkage strains similar to or less than those adopted by Eurocode 2 for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) concrete. Creep strains were similar or less than those predicted by Eurocode 2 for OPC concrete when the geopolymer concrete was cured for 3 days at 40 °C. After 7 days at 80 °C, creep strains became negligible.  相似文献

In semi-arid African regions (annual rainfall between 200 and 600 mm), variability of vegetative activity is mainly due to the rainfall of the current rainy season. In most of South Africa, the rainy season occurs from October to March. On average, vegetative activity lags rainfall by 1 to 2 months. The interannual variability in early summer (December to September) normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) depends primarily on precipitation at the beginning (October to November) of the rainy season. However, once this primary control is removed, the residual interannual variability in NDVI highlights a double memory effect: a 1-year effect, referred to as Mem1, and a 7- to 10-month effect, referred to as Mem2. This article aims at better describing the influence of soil and vegetation characteristics on these two memory effects. The data sets used in this study are as follows: (1) a 19-year NDVI time series from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellites, (2) rainfall records from a network of 1160 rain-gauge stations compiled by the Water Research Commission (WRC), (3) vegetation types from Global Land Cover (GLC) 2000 and (4) soil characteristics from the soil and terrain database for Southern Africa (SOTERSAF). Results indicate that among 20–30% of NDVI variance that is not explained by the concurrent rainfall, one-third is explained by the two memory effects. Mem1 is found to have maximum effect in the northwest of our study domain, near the Botswana boundary, in the South Kalahari. Associated conditions are open grasslands growing on Arenosols. Mem1 is less important in the southeast, particularly in open grassland with shrubs growing on Cambisols. Thus, Mem1 mainly depends on soil texture. Mem2 is more widespread and its influence is the greatest in the centre, the south and the east of our domain. It is related to rainfall from January to April, which controls, beyond the intervening dry season, the interannual variations of NDVI (December to September) at the beginning of the next rainy season. Through these new findings, this article emphasizes again the high potential of remote-sensing techniques to monitor and understand the dynamics of semi-arid environments.  相似文献

Two-dimensional gold nanostructures (Au NSs) were fabricated on amine-terminated indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films using constant potential electrolysis. By controlling the deposition time and by choosing the appropriate ITO surface, Au NSs with different shapes were generated. When Au NSs were formed directly on aminosilane-modified ITO, the surface roughness of the interface was largely enhanced. Modification of such Au NSs with n-tetradecanethiol resulted in a highly hydrophobic interface with a water contact angle of 144°. Aminosilane-modified ITO films further modified with colloidal Au seeds before electrochemical Au NSs formation demonstrated interesting optical properties. Depending on the deposition time, surface colors ranging from pale pink to beatgold-like were observed. The optical properties and the chemical stability of the interfaces were characterized using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Well-defined localized surface plasmon resonance signals were recorded on Au-seeded interfaces with λmax = 675 ± 2 nm (deposition time 180 s). The prepared interfaces exhibited long-term stability in various solvents and responded linearly to changes in the corresponding refractive indices.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: During cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), elimination of CO2 was shown to be limited by low tissue perfusion, especially when very low perfusion pressures were generated. It has therefore been suggested that sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3), by producing CO2, might aggravate the hypercarbic component of the existing acidosis and thereby worsen CPR outcome. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effects of CO2 producing and non-CO2 producing buffers in a canine model of prolonged ventricular fibrillation followed by effective CPR. DESIGN: Prospective, randomized, controlled, blinded trial. SETTING: Experimental animal research laboratory in a university research center. SUBJECTS: Thirty-eight adult dogs, weighing 20 to 35 kg. INTERVENTIONS: Animals were prepared for study with thiopental followed by halothane, diazepam, and pancuronium. Ventricular fibrillation was electrically induced, and after 10 mins, CPR was initiated, including ventilation with an FIO2 of 1.0, manual chest compressions, administration of epinephrine (0.1 mg/kg every 5 mins), and defibrillation. A dose of buffer, equivalent to 1 mmol/kg of NaHCO3, was administered every 10 mins from start of CPR. Animals were randomized to receive either NaHCO3, Carbicarb, THAM, or 0.9% sodium chloride (NaCl). CPR was continued for up to 40 mins or until return of spontaneous circulation. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS: Buffer-treated animals had a higher resuscitability rate compared with NaCl controls. Spontaneous circulation returned earlier and at a significantly higher rate after NaHCO3 (in seven of nine dogs), and after Carbicarb (six of ten dogs) compared with NaCl controls (two of ten dogs). Spontaneous circulation was achieved twice as fast after NaHCO3 compared with NaCl (14.6 vs. 28 mins, respectively). Hydrogen ion (H+) concentration and base excess, obtained 2 mins after the first buffer dose, were the best predictors of resuscitability. Arterial and mixed venous Pco2 did not increase after NaHCO3 or Carbicarb compared with NaCl. CONCLUSIONS: Buffer therapy promotes successful resuscitation after prolonged cardiac arrest, regardless of coronary perfusion pressure. NaHCO3, and to a lesser degree, Carbicarb, are beneficial in promoting early return of spontaneous circulation. When epinephrine is used to promote tissue perfusion, there is no evidence for hypercarbic venous acidosis associated with the use of these CO2 generating buffers.  相似文献
