The viscoelastic properties of the amorphous and semicrystalline PEEK and of a PEEK-based composite (APC2) have been analyzed as a function of the aging time and related free volume relaxation, at temperatures close to the glass transition temperature. The effect of thermal treatments (physical aging) on the polymer amorphous phase of the three systems is presented. Creep tests approaching the “zero stress” were performed on samples subjected to different thermal histories. The presence of a second phase, namely crystallites and fibers, determines a loss of the mobility of the polymeric amorphous chains and consequently a decrease of the rate of free volume relaxation.  相似文献

The microbending added losses of a double-coated optical fiber has been discussed in terms of the flexural and lateral rigidity. Explicit formulas have been discussed and a new empirical formula, derived from finite element method (FEM) calculations, has been suggested to take into account properly a double layer coating. Some inconsistencies of a previous adopted formula have been solved  相似文献

In this paper, an accurate delay model for MOS transistors in submicrometer CMOS digital circuits is presented. It takes into account a ramp shape input voltage and a feedforward capacitive coupling between gate and drain nodes, along with the main second-order effects present in short-channel MOS transistors. The proposed model shows an average agreement with SPICE simulations of 3% in the calculation of the propagation time, tested on a minimum inverter with a 0.7-μm CMOS reference technology for a wide range of input voltage slopes. An example of application in optimization algorithms regarding CMOS tapered buffers is also reported. A maximum error ranging from 3-6% with respect to SPICE has been found for the optimized circuits  相似文献

A series of 50 experiments was performed to investigate particle size and yield from three laboratory spray dryers with two-fluid nozzles, using an aqueous solution of egg albumin as the feed. First principles theory suggests that the main parameters affecting final particle size should be atomization gas flowrate and velocity, feed solution flowrate, solution concentration, and inlet and outlet gas temperature. The experiments demonstrated that atomization gas velocity at the nozzle correlated better than volumetric gas flowrate to the final particle size obtained. Increasing atomization gas flow gave a decrease in particle size, levelling off at high nozzle gas velocities approaching sonic values. Liquid flowrate had little effect, and hybrid ratios such as the ALM (atomization gas to liquid flow ratio) did not correlate well to measured final particle size for this system. This seems likely to apply to aqueous systems with temperature limitations, where liquid flowrates will be relatively low compared to gas flowrates (both atomization and main gas flow). Particle size generally increased with solution concentration, and in some cases scaled exactly, assuming a constant initial droplet size and final particle density. All experiments were performed below the boiling point and therefore temperature had little effect. Particles of 2–3 microns were obtained at high atomization gas flows, indicating initial droplet sizes of 4–7 microns at most, while lower flowrates gave substantially larger particles and a wider size distribution.  相似文献

Anosognosia for motor impairment has been linked to lesions of the right hemisphere. However, left hemisphere damaged patients have often been excluded from investigation because of their associated language deficits. In this study we assessed anosognosia for motor disorders in a group of left hemisphere damaged patients using 2 tools that assess the presence of unawareness—a structured interview that is a common method of assessment of anosognosia in clinical settings, and a new tool, the Visual-Analogue Test for Anosognosia for Motor Impairment (VATAm; Della Sala, Cocchini, Beschin, & Cameron, in press). The structured interview relies heavily on language and enquires about general motor ability whereas the VATAm is less dependent on language abilities and enquires about specific motor tasks. Results suggest that the frequency of anosognosia in left brain damaged patients may have been underestimated due to methodological reasons, and that anosognosia for motor impairment can also be associated with lesions of the left hemisphere. Three experiments compared groups of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients and healthy older and younger participants on visuospatial tracking and digit sequence recall, as single tasks and performed concurrently. In Experiment 1, tasks were performed concurrently with very low demand relative to span. Only the AD patients showed a dual task deficit. In Experiment 2, single task demand was manipulated on each task from below span to above span for each individual. All groups showed the same performance reductions with increasing demand. In Experiment 3, demand on 1 task was constant, whereas demand on the concurrent task was varied. AD patients showed a clear dual task deficit but were no more sensitive than control groups to varying demand. Results suggest an identifiable cognitive resource for dual task coordination within a multiple component working memory system. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)  相似文献

A model to predict the temperature-induced added loss in dual-coated optical fibers is presented. Longitudinal and lateral temperature-induced forces, originating from fiber irregularities and from the mismatch among the expansion coefficients of the glass fiber and of the coatings, are consistently included in the model. Both the bendings of the glass fiber and of the coating are considered. Transmission losses are explicity computed according to Petermann's theory on the microbending of single-mode fibers.  相似文献
