This paper presents a fundamental study of the connection between continuous- and discrete-time systems. Provided is a definition for discrete-time models, that is discrete-time systems with a continuous-time counterpart, whose order can be higher than that of the continuous-time system. This definition is based on a comparison in a certain sense on the time responses of continuous- and discrete-time systems. A theorem is presented for relating the higher-order discrete-time models to their continuous-time counterparts, which is an extension of a previous theorem for models with order equal to that of the continuous-time system. State-space forms are derived for models obtained through the use of a certain class of hold elements and through the use of mapping models, and these discrete-time systems are shown to be valid according to the definition. Special cases are models obtained using first-order and slewer hold devices, whose convergence to a continuous-time counterpart has not been shown mathematically before, and mapping models corresponding to two-step linear multi-step methods, which have not previously presented in the state-space form. The derived state-space forms provide a convenient way to implement these models for purposes of analysis, design, and implementation of discrete-time systems and finds applications in such areas as digital signal processing, digital simulation, and digital control.  相似文献

Typically, 15–45% of the mixed liquor (sludge) in biological wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) consists of inorganic (fixed) suspended solids. A portion of these inorganic compounds is grit (sand) originating from the influent. Grit accumulation impacts WWTP design and operating costs as these unbiodegradable solids reduce the effective treatment capacity of the bioreactor and other unit operations that must be sized to carry this material.The goal of this study was to characterize the performance of a hydrocyclone to selectively separate grit from activated sludge. Laboratory experiments were conducted with a 13 mm diameter Krebs hydrocyclone treating sludge from eight WWTPs. Reduced efficiencies of 17 ± 7% on fixed suspended solids and 9 ± 6% on volatile suspended solids were obtained. Grade efficiency curves enabled the development of a modified definition for cut size useful for this application. The characterization of hydrocyclone performance for grit removal from activated sludge will enable modelling of the process for integration into wastewater treatment simulators used for process performance prediction and design.  相似文献

γ-Linolenic acid (Z,Z,Z-6,9,12-octadecatrienoic acid), a very important polyunsaturated fatty acid is found in the free fatty acid fraction prepared by the hydrolysis of borage oil. Our aim was to enrich this fraction in γ-linolenic acid using selective esterification. Candida rugosa lipase was used as catalyst after immobilization on the following ion-exchange resins: Amberlite IRC50, IRA35, IRA93, and Duolite A7, A368, A568. In every case, immobilization modified the lipae’s specificity: palmitic, stearic, oleic, and linoleic acids were preferentially esterified compared to γ-linolenic acid, thus allowing a γ-linolenic acid enrichment of 3.0.  相似文献

The appearance of a significant amount of liberated fine pentlandite in the Raglan tailings, during a campaign to demonstrate future ore behaviour, called attention to a recovery opportunity. This opportunity was identified by a statistical benchmark survey of the operation during that campaign, and QEMSCAN measurement of these survey samples. This development was caused by escalating ore treatment rates and different characteristics in future ore sources. It was thus proposed to change the selection of collector from potassium amyl xanthate (PAX) to potassium isobutyl xanthate (PIBX). Laboratory scale flotation testwork, using high-confidence flotation testing, followed. The PIBX showed much faster flotation than the PAX. Nickel yield to first rougher concentrate was increased from 23.5% to 44.2%. The Raglan flowsheet bypasses this first rougher concentrate directly to final concentrate. Thus there was an expectation that overall performance would improve at plant scale when using PIBX. A designed plant trial was implemented in 2007 to measure and confirm the performance gain. This trial design used on–off switching following a 3-month baseline data block of normal operations using PAX. This layout provided checking of standard PAX performance prior to and during the trial. Thereafter, they were used to evaluate the trial blocks using PIBX. This trial format was deliberately designed so as to overcome the effects of autocorrelation in the operations data. In this way, small but significant metal recovery gains may be measured and proven in a plant trial. The paper describes the case study to show that this approach successfully blocks out autocorrelation in time, which is an obstacle in analysing concentrator operations data. The results showed that the PIBX had produced clear and statistically significant recovery gains for Ni, Cu, Pt and Pd. Adjusted for feed and concentrate grades, these recovery gains were: Ni: 1.04%, Cu: 1.01%, Pt: 2.67% and Pd: 1.79% in absolute terms.  相似文献

Infection of B lymphocytes by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) requires attachment of virus via binding of viral glycoprotein gp350 to CD21 on the cell surface. Penetration of the cell membrane additionally involves a complex of three glycoproteins, gH, gL, and gp42. Glycoprotein gp42 binds to HLA-DR. Interference with this interaction with a soluble form of gp42, with a monoclonal antibody (MAb) to gp42, or with a MAb to HLA-DR inhibited virus infection. It was not possible to superinfect cells that failed to express HLA-DR unless expression was restored by transfection or creation of hybrid cell lines with complementing deficiencies in expression of HLA class II. HLA class II molecules thus serve as cofactors for infection of human B cells.  相似文献

A hybrid pi/t bit passive topology is presented to enable a significant reduction in the die area for a high-pass/low-pass phase shifter is presented. A hybrid-topology 5 bit digital X-band phase shifter was designed, fabricated and tested using a 200 GHz, 0.13 mum SiGe bipolar complementary metal oxide semiconductor (BiCMOS) technology. Size and performance characteristics are presented as a contrast to an all-pi phase shifter recently presented by Comeau et al. using the same SiGe BiCMOS technology and design goals. With similar bit passive performance to the all-pi design, the hybrid shifter allows for a total shifter die-area reduction of 50.5%. The absolute phase error of the shifter was less than plusmn13 from 8 to 12 GHz, with an average insertion loss of -20 dB.  相似文献

English-speaking children (N?=?122) in French immersion classes participated in a 1-year longitudinal study of the relation between phonological awareness and reading achievement in both languages. Participants were administered measures of word decoding and of phonological awareness in French and in English as well as measures of cognitive ability, speeded naming, and pseudoword repetition in English only. The relation of phonological awareness in French to reading achievement in each of the languages was equivalent to that in English. These relations remained significant after partialing out the influences of speeded naming and pseudoword repetition. Phonological awareness in both languages was specifically associated with 1-year increments in decoding skill in French. Synthesis of triglycerides has been achieved by direct esterification of glycerol by fatty acids in the presence of toluene-4-sulfonic acid as catalyst. An improvement has been brought by using tetrahydrofuran as solvent and molecular sieves as dehydrating mean. Yields could reach 96%.  相似文献
