Nonnative plant species are causing enormous ecological and environmental impacts from local to global scale. Remote sensing images have had mixed success in providing spatial information on land cover characteristics to land managers that increase effective management of invasions into native habitats. However, there has been limited evaluation of the use of hyperspectral data and processing techniques for mapping specific invasive species based on their spectral characteristics. This research evaluated three different methods of processing hyperspectral imagery: minimum noise fraction (MNF), continuum removal, and band ratio indices for mapping iceplant (Carpobrotus edulis) and jubata grass (Cortaderia jubata) in California's coastal habitat. Validation with field sampling data showed high mapping accuracies for all methods for identifying presence or absence of iceplant (97%), with the MNF procedure producing the highest accuracy (55%) when the classes were divided into four different densities of iceplant. 相似文献

Recent literature has shown that relative to baseline the renal resistive index remains unchanged in nonobstructed kidneys and increases in obstructed kidneys after administration of furosemide. To our knowledge the effect upon the renal resistive index of furosemide administered in conjunction with intravenous normal saline fluid load has not been reported. We evaluated the renal resistive index in 13 nonobstructed kidneys in 8 children 6 to 18 years old before and after furosemide and intravenous normal saline fluid load. The mean resistive index decreased from baseline (mean decrease was 0.06 +/- 0.06 standard deviation), with the observation of a resistive index decrease significant to p < 0.005). It appears likely that the combination of an intravenous normal saline fluid load and furosemide caused the resistive index decrease, since a decrease was not observed with furosemide alone; however, these results cannot exclude the possibility that the resistive index decrease was due to the intravenous normal saline fluid load alone. Nonetheless, these data are important since they may provide the foundation for the development of a pharmacologically challenged Doppler sonographic examination using furosemide and intravenous normal saline fluid load to evaluate better potentially obstructed kidneys. 相似文献

Fetal and maternal data were monitored serially at 6 gestational ages from 20 to 38 weeks in 195 Peruvian fetuses. Digitized data included fetal heart rate and motor activity, as well as maternal heart rate and electrodermal conductance. Time series analysis evaluated the development of synchrony in 2 streams of fetal functioning and between mothers and fetuses. Intrafetal synchrony between heart rate and motor activity developed in an orderly fashion, with peak cross-correlation approaching an asymptote at 5 s at 28 weeks. Synchrony was not observed between fetal heart rate and maternal measures. Fetal motor activity exhibited synchrony with both maternal electrodermal and heart rate activity. Longitudinal neurobehavioral development was examined in 237 fetuses of low-risk pregnancies from 2 distinct populations-Baltimore, Maryland, and Lima. Peru-at 20. 24. 28. 32, 36. and 38 weeks gestation. Data were based on digitized Doppler-based fetal heart rate (FHR) and fetal movement (FM). In both groups. FHR declined while variability, episodic accelerations, and FM-FHR coupling increased, with discontinuities evident between 28 and 32 weeks gestation. Fetuses in Lima had higher FHR and lower variability, accelerations, and FM-FHR coupling. Declines in trajectories were typically observed 1 month sooner in Lima, which magnified these disparities. Motor activity differences were less consistent. No sex differences in fetal neurobehaviors were detected. It is concluded that population factors can influence the developmental niche of the fetus. Foamed polyimides have been developed in order to obtain thin film dielectric layers with very low dielectric constants for use in microelectronic devices. In these systems the pore sizes are in the nanometer range, thus, the term ‘nanofoam’. The polyimide foams are prepared from block copolymers consisting of thermally stable and thermally labile blocks, the latter being the dispersed phase. Foam formation is effected by thermolysis of the thermally labile block, leaving pores of the size and shape corresponding to the initial copolymer morphology. Nanofoams prepared from a number of polyimides as matrix materials were investigated as well as from a number of thermally labile polymers. The foams were characterized by a variety of experiments including TEM, SAXS, WAXD, DMTA, density measurements, refractive index measurements and dielectric constant measurements. Thin film foams, with high thermal stability and low dielectric constants approaching 2.0, can be prepared using the copolymer/nanofoam approach. 相似文献

OBJECTIVES: This study examined cross sectionally the physical activity patterns associated with low, moderate, and high levels of cardiorespiratory fitness. METHODS: Physical activity was assessed by questionnaire in a clinic population of 13,444 men and 3972 women 20 to 87 years of age. Estimated energy expenditure (kcal.wk-1) and volume (min.wk-1) of reported activities were calculated among individuals at low, moderate, and high fitness levels (assessed by maximal exercise tests). RESULTS: Average leisure time energy expenditures of 525 to 1650 kcal.wk-1 for men and 420 to 1260 kcal.wk-1 for women were associated with moderate to high levels of fitness. These levels of energy expenditure can be achieved with a brisk walk of approximately 30 minutes on most days of the week. In fact, men in the moderate and high fitness categories walked between 130 and 138 min.wk-1, and women in these categories walked between 148 and 167 min.wk-1. CONCLUSIONS: Most individuals should be able to achieve these physical activity goals and thus attain a cardiorespiratory fitness level sufficient to result in substantial health benefits. 相似文献

This study established the emergence of stable individual differences in neurobehavioral functioning prior to birth and examined their relation to subsequent infant temperament. Fetal heart rate and movement were recorded longitudinally for 31 fetuses at 6 gestational ages beginning at 20 weeks' gestation. Maternally reported temperament data were collected at 3 and 6 months. Moderate stability in all measures except reactivity was apparent at some time before birth. By 36 weeks, fetal neurobehavior accounted for between 22% and 60% of the variance in prediction of temperament scores. In general, more active fetuses were more difficult, unpredictable, unadaptable, and active infants. Higher fetal heart rate was associated with lower emotional tone, activity level, and predictability. We conclude that features of fetal neurobehavior provide the basis for individual differences in reactivity and regulation in infancy. 相似文献

Investigated rough and tumble play (RTP), a prosocial behavior whose expression and purpose varies as a function of gender, in 43 preschoolers, part of a longitudinal sample (targets), and 86 playmates (partners). A "playroom on wheels" was designed to maximize the amount of RTP displayed in same-sex triads. Observational coding techniques were devised to record various active and verbal behaviors, including a measure of activity level. Results indicate both quantitative and qualitative differences in the behaviors of the male and female triadic groups. Further, a robust sex difference in the amount and intensity of RTP was observed for both targets and partners. Analyses of the behavioral components indicated that RTP was distinct from other dominance-oriented or aggressive behaviors in this age group. A hypothesis concerning differential salience of interpersonal cues is presented to account for these findings, and speculations are made concerning the influence of RTP on subsequent development. Small amount of TiB2 (<5 wt%) was added into B4C through a novel method that combines the use of sputter deposition and hot pressing. Sputter deposition provided more uniform dispersion of TiB2 grains with smaller grain sizes as compared to the conventional particulate mixing. Small amount TiB2 addition demonstrated to be an effective way for improving the fracture behavior and toughness of B4C while not sacrificing its outstanding lightweight property to a large extent: 2.3 wt% TiB2 addition brought 15% improvement in indentation fracture toughness while resulting in less than 2% increase in density. The improvement can be attributed to the combination of crack impeding by TiB2 grains and crack deflection at the B4C–TiB2 interfaces. TiB2 also played as grain growth inhibitor resulting in a slight increase (2%) in Vickers hardness. Another intention of employing sputter deposition was to modify the grain boundary of B4C; however, neither formation of Ti-containing phase nor Ti segregation has been observed at grain boundaries likely due to the poor wettability of B4C. 相似文献
