Changes in the principal’s role, resulting from the computerization of a high-school’s instruction-administration subsystem (i.e. a significant technological change), occurred in six major categories: accountability, instruction evaluation, supervision, feedback, frequency of meetings, and shared decision-making. The principal’s interrelations with department heads, homeroom teachers and teachers, tightened significantly. The principal’s interrelations with the school computer administrator (a new role created as a result of the introduction of a school management information system), were found to be tight and on a daily basis. The results of this research might have significant theoretical and practical implications. They should be related to SMIS impact on schooling in general and on the principal’s role in particular.  相似文献

The regulation of plasma lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) expression is not well understood. Although oleic acid increases both the secretion of triglycerides and LCAT by primary rat hepatocytes, the effect of other fatty acids (FA) on LCAT secretion is not known. This study was designed to examine the effect of FA on the hepatic secretion of LCAT, triglyceride and apolipoprotein A-1 (apoA-1). Primary rat hepatocytes were incubated with serum-free medium, supplemented with individual FA (0-1 mmol/L) for 22-24 h. Preliminary studies indicated a linear secretion of LCAT up to 24 h in both control and FA-treated cells. When hepatocytes were incubated with 1 mmol/L FA, the LCAT secretion increased 50-100% (P < 0.01) in the presence of the 18-carbon FA (stearic, oleic, elaidic and linoleic acids), whereas the presence of butyric, lauric and palmitic acids had no significant effect. LCAT secretion decreased (P < 0.01) in the presence of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). All FA (except DHA) significantly enhanced triglyceride secretion; however, only the 18 carbon FA significantly stimulated the synthesis and secretion of apoA-1 and secretion of LCAT. The secretion of LCAT correlated with apoA-1 secretion (r = 0.88, P = 0.004) but not with triglyceride secretion (r = 0.55, P = 0.12). Treatment with oleic acid resulted in a 1.5-fold increase in hepatocyte LCAT mRNA accumulation, whereas butyrate and palmitate had no effect. These data indicate that FA that promote the apparent synthesis and secretion of apoA-1 also stimulate the secretion of LCAT in vitro, suggesting a coordinate regulatory mechanism for apoA-1 and LCAT expression.  相似文献

Lipid and lipoprotein concentration, and triglyceride turnover were studied in control, thyroidectomized, and pair-fed control rats (pair-fed to match the food intake of the thyroidectomized rats). Thyroidectomy induced a significant increase in plasma cholesterol (and low density lipoprotein) concentrations and a decrease in plasma triglyceride (and very low density lipoprotein) concentrations. Changes in similar direction but of smaller magnitude were observed in the plasma of the pair-fed control rats. To further investigate triglyceride metabolism in these three groups of animals, triglyceride turnover was studied in fasted, unrestrained, and unanesthetized rats, following injection of [2-3H]glycerol. Peak incorporation of [2-3H]glycerol into plasma triglyceride occurred in all three groups of animals at 25 min after precursor administration, although the maximal incorporation was substantially lower in the thyroidectomized group than in either of the control groups. Thereafter, plasma triglyceride radioactivity decayed monoexponentially with a half-life of 24 +/- 1 min for both normal and pair-fed control rats, compared with the half-life of 41 +/- 3 min observed in the thyroidectomized rats. The calculated apparent fractional catabolic rates were thus 0.029 min-1 for both control groups and only 0.017 min-1 for the thyroidectomized animals. The apparent total catabolic rates of plasma triglyceride were 299 +/- 11, 138 +/- 11, and 48 +/- 4 micrograms triglyceride . min-1 for the normal controls, pair-fed controls, and thyroidectomized rats, respectively. These data further emphasize the importance of thyroid hormones in regulating plasma lipid and lipoprotein metabolism and, specifically, indicate that hypothyroidism results in a reduction of triglyceride secretion into, and the removal from, circulation. Furthermore, evidence was presented that the decreased caloric intake of the hypothyroid animals cannot, in itself, account for this observation.  相似文献

An experimental study was conducted to determine the dependence of the burning rate coefficient of gel fuel droplets on the pressure at different ambient oxygen nitrogen mixtures. Experiments were conducted using a pressure chamber, in which the droplet was suspended and the combustion process was video‐photographed by a high‐speed digital video camera. The tests were conducted at pressures between 0.1–4 MPa at different ambient oxygen nitrogen compositions (air, 40 % O2 – 60 % N2, and 60 % O2 – 40 % N2). The fuel was a compound of 95 % kerosene and 5 % gellant. At sub‐critical pressure conditions, the burning rate coefficient was found to increase with increasing ambient oxygen mass fraction. At supercritical conditions, no dependence of the burning rate coefficient on the ambient mixture was found. The results indicate that the burning rate coefficient depends on the oxygen partial pressure, at least at low pressures.  相似文献

This work reports an original method for synthesis of well-crystallized manganese ferrite (MnFe2O4) nanoparticles via a high energy wet milling technique under atmospheric conditions, starting from metallic Mn and Fe powders in the presence of distilled water. The effects of milling conditions on the formation and magnetic properties of MnFe2O4 nanoparticles were investigated in detail. Fully stoichiometric MnFe2O4 nanocrystals with an average crystallite size of 14.5 nm were produced after 24 h of milling. As-synthesized MnFe2O4 nanocrystals were found to show soft magnetic behavior at room temperature with saturation magnetization of 53 emu/g. Due to reduced thermal effects, the saturation magnetization increased to 68 emu/g at 5 K. Results show that this method is simple and efficient for the mass production of MnFe2O4 nanoparticles.  相似文献

School administration computerization is more than a mere technological change. In the Israeli educational system it has affected the school's structural subsystem. A new role, that of the school computer administrator (SCA) was created. The main characteristics of this role are discussed and the nature of the SCA's interrelations with the principal, subject-coordinators, homeroom-teachers and teachers in a high school are presented and analyzed. Accountability, instruction evaluation, supervision, feedback, frequency of meetings, and shared decision-making were found to be significantly impacted. Findings of this study have two major uses: to help in introducing SMIS in the school and to contribute in the study of the impact of information technology on instruction administration management.  相似文献

3D ceramic parts are of great interest for various applications including aerospace, defense, electronics, photonics, and biomedical. Yet, additive manufacturing of ceramics is challenging due to their poor machinability. Herein, two approaches based on the chemical modification of silicon resins to obtain UV-curable preceramic precursors of SiOC are described. The dual functionality of the synthesized resins acting both as preceramic precursor and as photopolymerizable entity under UV light is exploited. A set of characterization techniques has allowed the investigation of the mechanisms involved in the synthesis of the inorganic SiOC precursors according to the following approaches: (1) blend of the silicon resin with photoactive monomers and (2) synthesis of a single source UV-curable preceramic silicon resin. A correlation between the nature of the precursor and the properties of the derived SiOC is analyzed. From a technological point of view, the materials can be fabricated as dense or crack-free porous customized objects with low mass loss and optimal surface quality.  相似文献

According to Weick the task of educating can be properly fulfilled only in a loosely-coupled (LC) system. The introduction of a management information system (MIS) into the school confronts the school with the challenge of absorbing the MIS without losing its LC nature. On the basis of experience gained from the design of a pedagogical MIS on a national scale, it is argued that through appropriate policy, the school can be computerized while maintaining its LC nature. Three possible strategies for school computerization are suggested, and a mode for total integration of MIS while retaining the school's LC nature is proposed. This generates intriguing challenges for researchers as well as school administrators. A research agenda concludes the discussion.  相似文献
