Polymer networks in which poly(propylene imine) dendrimers (Astramol?) are connected to each other by linear polytetrahydrofuran (polyTHF) segments, were prepared by two methods. The first method was a one‐step procedure in which bifunctionally living polyTHF, obtained by initiation of the THF polymerization with trifluoromethane sulfonic anhydride (triflic anhydride), was reacted with an amino‐dendrimer. This reaction was very fast but did not allow formation of the end products. The second method was a two‐step procedure. In a first step, living polyTHF, prepared with acryloyloxybutyl triflate as initiator, was grafted on an amino‐dendrimer, to form a star‐like, acrylate‐terminated polyTHF multi‐macromonomer with the dendrimer as core. In a second step, networks were obtained by Michael addition between the acrylate end‐groups and unreacted amino‐groups of the dendrimer. This cross‐linking reaction occurred spontaneously upon heating of the solution of the multi‐macromonomer with gelation times varying from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the temperature and the composition of the prepolymers. With this method it was possible to prepare networks in the form of coatings or films. © 2003 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

α,ω-Methacrylate-terminated poly(1,3-dioxolane)s (polyDXL) were synthesized by cationic ring-opening polymerization of DXL in the presence of methylene-bis(oxyethylmethacrylate) as transfer agent. If the initiator concentration is small compared with the transfer agent concentration, the molecular weights of the polymers are governed by the ratio of the reacted monomer to the reacted transfer agent. The α,ω-methacrylate-terminated polyDXLs obtained undergo free radical polymerization with formation of polyacetal networks. The properties of the networks as function of the molecular weight of the corresponding prepolymers are reported.  相似文献

We present an approach for mining frequent conjunctive in arbitrary relational databases. Our pattern class is the simple, but appealing subclass of simple conjunctive queries. Our algorithm, called Conqueror $^+$ , is capable of detecting previously unknown functional and inclusion dependencies that hold on the database relations as well as on joins of relations. These newly detected dependencies are then used to prune redundant queries. We propose an efficient database-oriented implementation of our algorithm using SQL and provide several promising experimental results.  相似文献

One technique used frequently among quality practitioners seeking solutions to multi-response optimization problems is the desirability function approach. The technique involves modeling each characteristic using response surface designs and then transforming the characteristics into a single performance measure. The traditional procedure, however, calls for estimating only the mean response; the variability among the characteristics is not considered. Furthermore, the approach typically relies on the accuracy of second-order polynomials in its estimation, which are not always suitable. This paper, in contrast, proposes a methodology that utilizes higher-order estimation techniques and incorporates the concepts of robust design to account for process variability. Several examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.  相似文献

Two studies examined the association between newscasters' facial expressions and the voting behavior of viewers. In Exp I, with 45 undergraduates, the facial expressions exhibited by network newscasters while referring to the 1984 presidential candidates prior to the election were investigated. Results indicate that 1 of the 3 newscasters exhibited significantly more positive facial expressions when referring to Reagan than when referring to Mondale. In Exp II, a telephone survey of approximately 200 individuals was conducted to determine whether voting behavior was associated with the nightly news program watched. It was found that voters who regularly watched the newscaster who exhibited the biased facial expressions were significantly more likely to vote for the candidate that the newscaster had smiled upon. Three explanations for the results are discussed: (1) Viewing the newscasters' biased facial expressions caused the viewers' voting preferences; (2) the viewers' voting preferences determined their viewing of biased newscasters' facial expressions; or (3) some other variable accounted for the findings. Innovative engineering techniques are often sought within the manufacturing environment to improve product quality and promote more cost‐effective strategies. Robust design methods are frequently used to serve this purpose, with the objective of minimizing the variability inherent within a particular process or system. A review of the literature suggests that most robust design research involves the study of static quality characteristics, given a pre‐defined specification interval or region and target value. In addition to proposing a methodology for working with dynamic quality characteristics where the specifications and target value may change over time, this paper offers two other distinct contributions. First, those researchers who have examined dynamic systems traditionally consider the effects of a signal factor on a response variable on the identification of optimal factor settings. In contrast, this paper will consider the effects of a quality characteristic changing over time, thus removing the need to confine the problem to signal–response systems. Furthermore, most researchers consider the optimization of the process mean according to the costs of non‐conforming to an established specification interval or region. This paper, however, utilizes a methodology involving the simultaneous optimization of the process mean and variance while expanding the problem to consider a loss in quality attributed to deviation from a target value over time. The potential of night cooling, a passive cooling technique of growing interest, is typically investigated by numerical means. In particular multi-zone energy simulation is currently appraised for building design. Unfortunately, in addition to the inaccurate approximation of an ideally mixed room, the implemented empirical convective heat transfer coefficients (CHTCs) only apply to specific flow regimes - forcing to use arbitrary correlations and, thus, possibly limiting the usefulness of the simulation results. Therefore, the authors of this paper investigate the sensitivity of the night cooling performance to convection algorithms. First, the authors examine the applicability of convection correlations for real building enclosures, extracted from literature. Subsequently, simulations of a night cooled office room during summertime of a moderate climate (Belgium) are carried out in TRNSYS, using different convection correlations in addition to varying design parameters. The results show that the choice of the convection algorithm strongly affects the energy and thermal comfort predictions. More importantly, the convection algorithm is of the same importance as the design parameters - making an exact definition of the CHTC crucial. Therefore, additional research by experiments or airflow codes, based on fluid dynamics, is regarded necessary.  相似文献

Summary Copolymers of ethylene and 1-octene, 1-tetradecene and 1-octadecene were synthetized in order to study the effect of the comonomer chain length and amount on density, melting temperature and heat of fusion. They were also compared with the properties of the copolymers obtained with the heterogeneous titanium catalyst.It could be seen that the density/melting-area of the copolymers obtained with the zirconocene catalyst was much broader than with the titanium catalyst. It could also be seen that with the same comonomer content 1-tetradecene gave lower density of the copolymers than 1-octene. However, no difference were seen between the densities of the copolymers obtained with 1-tetradecene and 1-octadecene.The melting temperature of the copolymers was seen to be the lower the longer the comonomer was. In the area of the high branching amount the linear correlation was not in work. It was also shown that the differences in the heat of fusions could only be seen at high amount of branches (>15 branches/1000C): the longer the comonomer the lower amount of heat was needed to melt the copolymer.  相似文献
