The author points out that in the transmission-line-matrix (TLM) method, spurious reflection is encountered at the edge of the mesh. By transforming the infinite region exterior to a finite region and discretizing it by a second mesh, the magnitude of reflection is much reduced. The perfectly matched layer for use with the finite-difference time-domain method is adapted to our transmission-line matrix simulation as what we call a heaviside absorbing layer (HAL). It is shown that the reflection coefficient for the wave incident on a HAL is less than that of the wave incident on a matched-load termination at all angles of incidence. Furthermore, the dispersion relation of a transmission-line matrix mesh of a symmetrical condensed node with both electric and magnetic loss stubs is derived. New languages, programming disciplines, operating systems, and software engineering techniques sometimes hold considerable potential for real-time software developers. A promising area of interest-but one fairly new to the real-time community-is object-oriented programming. Java, for example, draws heavily from object orientation and is highly suitable for extension to real-time and embedded systems. Recognizing this fit between Java and real-time software development, the Real-Time for Java Experts Group (RTJEG) began developing the real-time specification for Java (RTSJ) in March 1999 under the Java Community Process. This article explains RTSJ's features and the thinking behind the specification's design. The goal of the RTJEG, of which the authors are both members, was to provide a platform-a Java execution environment and application program interface (API)-that lets programmers correctly reason about the temporal behavior of executing software  相似文献

Histological and histochemical techniques have been employed to determine the structure and autonomic innervation of paraganglia located in the human pelvis. In foetal and early postnatal tissues, paraganglia formed rounded cellular masses which were frequently in company with the autonomic nerves and ganglia of the urinary bladder and other pelvic viscera. The constituent cells contained only small amounts of cholinesterase and were unrelated to enzyme positive autonomic nerves; acetylcholinesterase containing nerves were occasionally observed in the capsule and the fibrous septa of the pelvic paraganglia. In early postnatal specimens, pelvic paraganglia frequently contained single or multiple "pacinian-like" corpuscles, each possessing a central region which was rich in both acetyl and pseudocholinesterase. These structures were rarely observed within autonomic ganglia and were absent 4 1/2 years post partum. By means of a histochemical technique, pelvic paraganglia were found to contain catecholamine which was attributed to the presence of relatively large quantities of noradrenaline. These observations have been discussed with particular reference to the results of other studies on the autonomic innervation of paraganglia.  相似文献

Despite frequent discussions of what it means to be normal in clinical, social, and personality psychology theory, the characteristics of individuals who call themselves normal are little understood. In 5 studies, the authors investigated various hypotheses concerning the nature of normality evaluations. The authors add to recent evidence that normality evaluations represent a distinct dimension of evaluative judgments, showing self-judgments of being normal (versus strange) to be relatively independent from self-judgments of being average (versus unique). Normality evaluations showed positive relations with communal traits such as agreeableness, conscientiousness, and emotional stability, and were negatively related to openness to experience. Supporting a broader hypothesis that normality evaluations may be involved in directing or motivating personality development processes, normality evaluations were positively associated with well-being and a sense of fitting in with one's peers, and individuals who felt abnormal felt a heightened sense that they needed to improve their personality. Finally, the personality correlates of normality evaluations were found to change over the lifespan, largely in parallel with the actual mean-level development of personality traits with age. Chemokines are proinflammatory cytokines that function in leukocyte chemoattraction and activation and have recently been shown to block the HIV-1 infection of target cells through interactions with chemokine receptors. In addition to their function in viral disease, chemokines have been implicated in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Expression of the CC chemokine monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) is upregulated in human atherosclerotic plaques, in arteries of primates on a hypercholesterolaemic diet; and in vascular endothelial and smooth muscle cells exposed to minimally modified lipids. To determine whether MCP-1 is causally related to the development of atherosclerosis, we generated mice that lack CCR2, the receptor for MCP-1 (ref. 7), and crossed them with apolipoprotein (apo) E-null mice which develop severe atherosclerosis. Here we show that the selective absence of CCR2 decreases lesion formation markedly in apoE-/- mice but has no effect on plasma lipid or lipoprotein concentrations. These data reveal a role for MCP-1 in the development of early atherosclerotic lesions and suggest that upregulation of this chemokine by minimally oxidized lipids is an important link between hyperlipidaemia and fatty streak formation.  相似文献

Sudden cardiac death is frequent in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. To assess the risk of an arrhythmic event is still difficult. Here the analysis of the heart rate variability offers new possibilities. METHOD: 25 patients (18 males, 7 females, age 53 +/- 9 yrs) with dilated cardiomyopathy were included in the study. Analysis of heart rate variability assessed by time- and frequency-domain measures was determined from Holter recording. The mean follow-up was 18 +/- 5 months. RESULTS: 6 patients died (5 of sudden cardiac death, 1 of heart failure), 1 patient with an implanted defibrillator received an adequate shock. Parameters influenced by low- and mid-frequent oscillations of the heart rate were significantly lower in patients who died suddenly or had adequate shocks. The best predictive parameter was the s.d.RR: all patients with an s.d.RR < 50 ms had lethal arrhythmias whereas the s.d.RR of the surviving patients was > or = 50 ms. No significant difference was found or high frequency parameters, which are mainly influenced by parasympathetic activity. CONCLUSION: The analysis of heart rate variability is of prognostic relevance in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. Especially the s.d.RR is able to identify patients with a high risk of a sudden cardiac death.  相似文献
