A macropipelined CISC microprocessor was implemented in a 0.75-μm CMOS 3.3-V technology. The 1.3-million-transistor custom chip measures 1.62×1.46 cm2 and dissipates 16.3 W. The 100-MHz parts were benchmarked at 50 SPEC marks. The on-chip clocking system and several high-performance logic and circuit techniques are described. Macroinstruction handling, micropipeline management, and control store structures highlight the design architecture. The hierarchical array organization and fast tag comparison technique of the primary cache are discussed. Power estimation procedures are outlined, and the results are compared to measurements. Physical design and verification methods, and CAD tools are also described. After extensive functional verification efforts are described, chip and system test results are presented  相似文献

A 300-MHz 64-b quad-issue CMOS RISC microprocessor   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This 300 MHz quad-issue custom VLSI implementation of the Alpha architecture delivers 1200 MIPS (peak), 600 MFLOPS (peak), 341 SPECint92, and 512 SPECfp92. The 16.5 mm×18.1 mm die contains 9.3 M transistors and dissipates 50 W at 300 MHz. It is fabricated in a 3.3 V, four-layer metal, 0.5 μm, CMOS process. The upper metal layers (metal-3 and metal-4), primarily used for power, ground, and clock distribution. The chip supports 3.3 V/5.0 V interfaces and is packaged in a 499-pin ceramic IPGA. It contains an 8-kbyte instruction cache; an 8-kbyte, dual-ported, data cache; and a 96-kbyte, unified, second-level, 3-way set associative, fully pipelined, writeback cache. Iridoid glycosides, terpene-derived compounds found in many plant families, protect the plant against generalist and nonadapted specialist insect herbivores, fungi, and bacteria. Antirrhinoside, a common iridoid glycoside in the tribe Antirrhineae (Scrophulariaceae), was rapidly labeled when mature leaves ofAsarina scandens were exposed to14CO2. Antirrhinoside was translocated in the phloem along with sucrose. Radiolabeled antirrhinoside appeared in the petiole of the labeled leaf within 20 min of the beginning of the labeling period. Antirrhinoside was also found in phloem sap obtained by the EDTA method.  相似文献

Systems management suites offer the promise of a single, centralized solution for businesses that performs disparate enterprise management functions, including electronic software distribution, network management, alert management, help desk, inventory management, performance monitoring, metering, and other tasks essential to maintaining enterprise productivity. The unfulfilled promise of systems management suites has become critical for organizations seeking control of the distributed enterprise. The article reports on the results of a survey of IT professionals in collaboration with a recognized expert on the distributed enterprise. This systems management suite survey: assesses organizations' commitment to suite technology and/or best-of-breed point solutions and their ability to implement suite technology throughout the enterprise; examines the costs associated with suite deployment; and identifies the essential steps and key obstacles to suite deployment and management. Although the survey found that these complex suites still left a lot to be desired, it also pointed out pitfalls some organizations were encountering along the way to early adoption  相似文献

Three generations of Alpha microprocessors have been designed using a proven custom design methodology. The performance of these microprocessors was optimized by focusing on high-frequency design. The Alpha instruction set architecture facilitates high clock speed, and the chip organization for each generation was carefully chosen to meet critical paths. Digital has developed six generations of CMOS technology optimized for high-frequency design. Complex circuit styles were used extensively to meet aggressive cycle time goals. OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy of using an iodized talc slurry as a sclerosing agent instilled into the pleural space via a 12-French pigtail catheter for controlling malignant pleural effusions. DESIGN: A prospective study in which patients were followed until their death. SETTING: A university-affiliated tertiary-care teaching hospital. PATIENTS: Medical oncology patients admitted with symptomatic malignant pleural effusions were considered for iodized talc pleurodesis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The control of pleural effusion. Treatment failure was defined as any reaccumulation of fluid in the pleural space. RESULTS: Fifteen patients were treated for a total of 17 instillations. The median follow-up on all patients until death was 6 months (range 1-20). The most frequent adverse effect in the study group was pleuritic chest pain (60%). The probability of control of effusion, as determined by the method of Kaplan-Meier, was 81% (SEM 9.7%). The cost of preparing 5 g of iodized talc was $4.32 (US). CONCLUSIONS: Iodized talc slurry instilled through a small-bore pigtail catheter is a safe, economical, and effective treatment for malignant pleural effusion.  相似文献

Telomerase is an attractive target for the design of new anticancer drugs. We have previously described a series of 1,4- and 2, 6-difunctionalized amidoanthracene-9,10-diones that inhibit human telomerase via stabilization of telomeric G-quadruplex structures. The present study details the preparation of three further, distinct series of regioisomeric difunctionalized amidoanthracene-9,10-diones substituted at the 1,5-, 1,8-, and 2,7-positions, respectively. Their in vitro cytotoxicity and Taq DNA polymerase and human telomerase inhibition properties are reported and compared with those of their 1,4- and 2,6-isomers. Potent telomerase inhibition (telIC50 values 1.3-17.3 microM) is exhibited within each isomeric series. In addition, biophysical and molecular modeling studies have been conducted to examine binding to the target G-quadruplex structure formed by the folding of telomeric DNA. These studies indicate that the isomeric diamidoanthracene-9,10-diones bind to the human telomeric G-quadruplex structure with a stoichiometry of 1:1. Plausible G-quadruplex-ligand complexes have been identified for each isomeric family, with three distinct modes of intercalative binding being proposed. The exact mode of intercalative binding is dictated by the positional placement of substituent side chains. Furthermore, in contrast to previous studies directed toward triplex DNA, it is evident that stringent control over positional attachment of substituents is not a necessity for effective telomerase inhibition.  相似文献

Enterprise information security is a talent-centric proposition. Information assurance is a product of the combined expertise, attention-to-detail, and creativity of an information security team. A competitive edge can be obtained by hiring the top information security professionals. Therefore, identifying the right people is a mission-critical task. To assist in the candidate selection process, this research analyzes the enduring traits and values of top security performers. It identifies the personality traits and values which distinguish high-performing information security workers. In a laboratory study, a series of simulations were administered to 61 subjects to assess their ability to solve various information security problems. The characteristics of top information security performers were contrasted against the rest of the cohort. In terms of personality, the top performers have higher levels of conscientiousness and openness. With respect to values, the top performers have stronger theoretical and economic values.  相似文献

This study presented and tested a model of response to involuntary job loss based on R. S. Lazarus and S. Folkman's (1984) theory of stress, appraisal, and coping. The sample included 202 individuals who provided self-report survey data at approximately 6 and 12 months following a company closing. Structural equation modeling provided support for the fit of the overall model and partial support for the hypotheses. Specifically, results indicated that coping resources are related both to the cognitive appraisal of job loss and the coping strategies developed in response to job loss, cognitive appraisal is related to the use of coping strategies, and coping strategies are related both to the level of distress felt by the individual and to the level of reemployment attained.
