The preparation of nonoriented as well as magnetically oriented specimens of 2MeO · 2BaO·-6Fe2O3 and 2MeO·3BaO·12Fe2O3 is described. The MeO component is limited to NiO, ZnO, CoO, and CuO and mixtures of these in this discussion. The orienting apparatus and technique employed are briefly described. The magnetic permeability and loss as measured at 250 Mc is shown for many of these prepared compositions. The effect of the orienting magnetic field strength as well as firing temperature on the observed magnetic properties is discussed.  相似文献

Exo- and endo-polygalacturonases (EC 3.2.1.40 and EC 3.2.1.15) in papayas were extracted, purified 20- and 90-fold, respectively, and characterized. Both enzymes functioned optimally at pH 4.6 and 45°C. Heat inactivation of the papaya PGases was biphasic and both phases followed first order kinetics. Decreasing the pH from 4.6 to 3.6 decreased the time required for their heat inactivation. The activation energies for the thermal inactivation at pH 3.6 and 4.6 were 85 and 92 kcal/mol, respectively, for endo-PGase (PG I) and 140 and 102 kcal/mol, respectively, for exo-PGase (PG II). The apparent molecular weight was determined by gel filtration to be 164,000 daltons for PG I and 34,000 daltons for PG II.  相似文献

Abstract— The use of kinematic hardening models are examined for tubes subjected to (a) cyclic plastic torsion with a sustained axial stress and (b) cyclic plastic tension-compression with a sustained hoop stress. It is shown that the kinematic model predicts a limit to the plastic strain accumulation resulting from the sustained loads. Experimental results show that the strain accumulation is not limited and that the mode of deformation within a cycle of plastic strain cannot be predicted using a kinematic hardening model. The development of the yield surface under cyclic loading is examined. The results indicate that contraction and expansion of the yield surface along the stress axes can occur and it is shown that the direction of the sustained stresses, relative to the direction of the cyclic stresses is an important factor in the development of any cumulative plastic strains.  相似文献

SEX RELATED RESPONSES GIVEN IN FREE ASSOCIATION TO DOUBLE-ENTENDRE WORDS WERE RELATED TO THE PERSONALITY VARIABLES OF SEX GUILT, NEED FOR HETEROSEXUALITY, AND THE SOCIAL DESIRABILITY RESPONSE SET. TESTING WAS CONDUCTED INDIVIDUALLY. VARIABLES OF SEX GUILT, SEXUAL MOTIVE STRENGTH, AND SOCIAL DESIRABILITY RESPONSE TENDENCY WERE MEASURED RESPECTIVELY BY THE MOSHER FORCED-CHOICE GUILT SCALE, THE EPPS, AND THE MARLOW-CROWNE SOCIAL DESIRABILITY SCALE. RESULTS INDICATED A POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NEED FOR HETEROSEXUALITY AND ASSOCIATIVE SEXUAL RESPONSES, AND A NEGATIVE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SEX GUILT AND SEXUAL RESPONSIVITY. CONTRARY TO PREDICTION, ASSOCIATIVE SEXUAL RESPONSES WERE UNRELATED TO THE SOCIAL DESIRABILITY RESPONSE TENDENCY. Fluorescence spectra resulting from uv excitation of pure, Ca2+-doped, and Y3+-doped ThO2 were resolved into discrete bands at 395.4, 434.6, and 464.0 nm. These bands are related to absorption bands in the pure material at 238.9, 227.3, and 252.8 nm, respectively. The Ca2+ - and Y3+-doped ThO2 specimens showed an apparent absorption edge at 240 nm (213 nm is the true edge in pure ThO2). However, the fluorescence studies showed that this edge is, in fact, spurious, resulting from enhancement of the high-energy absorbance bands by doping.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A model of a well-mixed fluidized-bed dryer within a process flowsheeiing package (SPEEDUP(tm)) has been developed and applied to a parameter sensitivity study, a steady-state controllability analysis and an optimization study. This approach is more general and would be more easily applied to a complex flowsheet than one which relied on stand-alone dryer modelling packages. The simulation has shown that industrial data may be fitted to the mode outputs with sensible values of unknown parameters. For this case study, the parameter sensitivity study has found that the heat loss from the dryer and the critical moisture content of the material have the greatest impact on the dryer operation at the current operating point. An optimization study has demonstrated the dominant effect of the heat loss from the dryer on the current operating cost and the current operating conditions, and substantial cost savings (around 50% ) could be achieved with a well-insulated and airtight dryer, for the specific case studied here.  相似文献

Liquid velocity profiles in a bubble column were measured with the aid of a hot-film anemometer. Two different types of profiles were detected that were characterized by the formation of a boundary layer at the column wall. Under slow flow conditions, the boundary layer is large and controls the liquid velocity profile, but in turbulent flow the boundary layer is very small and has no significant effect on the velocity profile. Microscopic and macroscopic balances were used to predict both the liquid velocity profile and the average liquid velocity.

The effect of the liquid velocity profile and average velocity on axial dispersion and gas-hold-up are analyzed and design procedures are recommended.  相似文献

A low trypsin inhibitor soybean (LTI) was characterized using electrophoresis, enzyme activity measurements, and gel exclusion chromatography. The protein profiles were similar to a control soybean. Gel exclusion chromatography resulted in two peaks of trypsin inhibitor activity in the control. The first peak, absent in LTI, proved to be Kunitz trypsin inhibitor and was electrophoretically isomorphic. The second inhibitor consisted of at least five isotypes and co-eluted with Bowman-Birk trypsin inhibitor. Shorter heating times were required to inactivate both trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitor activity in LTI compared to control soybeans. The use of LTI may increase the economic viability of soybeans as protein supplements for humans.  相似文献
