After spontaneous regression of transplanted tumours, marked reduction in number of tumours was found when challenged with isogenic tumour cells. The ALS abrogates this effect. Tumour removal by surgical excision of limb and subsequent time scheduled challenge by tumour cells maximally suppress on the 10th day and continues up to the 42nd day the tumorogenic effect. Splenectomy has no effect if done before a day or 3 days after challenge but marked decrease in tumour development was seen when challenged on the 8th day after splenectomy. Amputation and splenectomy together potentiates tumour formation. Only in tumour extrication, does resistance develop up to the 42nd day from surgery. Challenging at a different site in mice with tumours, resulted in prolongation of the intervals of tumour formation. Challenge after surgical removal of tumour after a time lapse, results in marked reduction in number and size of tumours. Surgical tumour extrication after splenectomy and subsequent challenge on 11th day inhibited tumour formation. Whereas splenectomized tumour bearing mice when challenged at a heterosite did not develop resistance.  相似文献

Femtosecond pulses of a passive mode-locked Rhodamine-6G dye laser are amplified in a double-stage, three-pass, plane mirror, Sulforhodamine-101 amplifier system. Saturable filters (Schott glass RG645 and Malachite Green) are used to suppress amplified spontaneous emission. Input pulses of 110-fs duration are broadened to 240 fs in the amplifier system and recompressed to 75 fs in a prism-pair compressor. Using a 20-Hz Q-switched Nd:YAG pump laser of 50-mJ second-harmonic output energy, we obtained amplified and recompressed pulses of 180-μJ energy at 625 nm starting with 40-pJ input pulses. The small-signal amplification dynamics is studied numerically. Relevant gain dye and saturable filter parameters are derived. The influence of amplified spontaneous emission is analyzed.  相似文献

Since the invention in 1986 atomic force microscopy (AFM) has become the most widely used scanning probe microscopy (Binnig et al. in Phys Rev Lett 56:930–933, 1986). The microscope images the interaction of forces like Van der Waals or Coulomb forces between a sample and the apex of a small tip integrated near the free end of a flexible cantilever. But as all other scanning probe techniques the AFM requires serial data acquisition and suffers therefore from a low temporal resolution. Enhancing the speed to video rate imaging makes high demands on scanner technology, control electronics and on the key feature the cantilever with integrated sharp stylus. For the cantilever probes, fundamental resonance frequencies in the MHz regime are envisaged while the force constant of a few nN/nm shall be maintained. We present different novel AFM probes with ultrashort cantilevers and integrated sharp tips for high speed AFM while focusing on widely dispersed applications and on aspects of mass fabrication.  相似文献

Professional order‐picking in deep cold‐storage depots (i.e., storing, picking, and dispatching of frozen groceries) requires employees to remain working at temperatures of approximately ?24°C for a whole workday. Actually, a well‐regulated organization of working times and breaks has not been established, and no competent knowledge exists as to whether an additional age‐differentiated organization is necessary. To assess the physiological effects while working in deep cold, 30 male subjects (Ss) were classified into two age groups (20‐ to 35‐year‐olds and 40‐ to 65‐year‐olds). In whole workday tests, possible age‐dependent effects on the strain were measured to guarantee the preservation of the subjects' ability to work in the long run. For the objectification of the physiological strain, heart rate and skin surface temperature were registered continuously, and blood pressure and body core temperature were measured and recorded discretely during cold exposures of 80, 100, and 120 min, separated by 20‐min warming‐up breaks. Systematic differences of blood pressure could not be found. The heart rate values indicated a high physiological strain for both younger and older Ss, with work‐related increases above the resting level of 30 bpm and more. Due to increases over time, endurance level sometimes was exceeded. Age‐related differences in skin temperature could not be recorded, but the ability to generate heat deteriorated with advancing age, which is shown by more substantial decreases of body core temperature in the group of 40‐ to 65‐year‐olds taken at the tympanum. Regarding physiological strain brought about by maximum heart rate decreasing with age and declined heat generation, correspondingly adapted workday break regimes have to be provided for older employees to ensure their ability to work in the long run. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The blue-light photo-reduction (conversion of oxidized flavin quinone via flavin semiquinone to fully reduced flavin hydroquinone) and dark re-oxidation of the flavins riboflavin and lumiflavin in starch (α-amylose) films was studied by absorption and luminescence spectroscopy. Blue-light photo-excitation caused an absorption, fluorescence, and phosphorescence decrease which recovered in the dark. The photo-reduction dark-oxidation cycle could be repeated. The efficiency of photo-reduction decreased with exposed excitation energy, and the speed of re-oxidation in the dark slowed down with time after excitation. The absorption did not fully recover. The fluorescence efficiency after a long time of storage in the dark increased beyond the initial flavin quinone fluorescence efficiency. Flavin photo-excitation is thought to cause starch-flavin restructuring (static fluorescence quenching center formation), enabling enhanced photo-induced starch to flavin electron transfer with subsequent flavin reduction and starch oxidation. In the dark, after light switch-off, thermal reversion of flavin reduction and starch oxidation occurred.  相似文献
