Gels of glycinin and conglycinin formed at various heating temperatures, in the absence and presence of 0.2M sodium chloride were characterised by transmission electron microscopy. In distilled water both proteins formed gels consisting of strands with a thickness of 10–15 nm. The strands of glycinin were very regular and cross sections of strands showed a hollow cylindrical structure. In the presence of sodium chloride, glycinin formed an aggregated gel structure at 85°C, but at 95°C an ordered strand structure was formed. Dissociation of the quaternary structure on heating and reassociation of subunits into regular strands were considered the most probable mechanisms for strand formation from glycinin. The aggregated structure at 85°C was interpreted as a transient state prior to dissociation. Conglycinin rich gels were less regular and more crosslinked than gels of glycinin. Also, the strands of conglycinin showed a complex mode of aggregation possibly in the form of double spirals. The addition of sodium chloride caused a denser and more aggregated structure at 75 and 85°C, but the effects were not as drastic as in the case of glycinin. Heating temperature had only minor effects on the gel structure in the range studied.  相似文献

This paper presents the current understanding of the flame retardant mechanism of Casico?. The study includes the flame retardant effect of each individual component: ethylene–acrylate copolymer, chalk and silicone elastomer, as well as the formation of an intumescent structure during heating. The flame retardant properties were investigated by cone calorimetry and oxygen index tests. To obtain insight into the flame retardant mechanism, heat treatment under different conditions has also been performed. The results indicate that the flame retardant mechanism of Casico is complex and is related to a number of reactions, e.g. ester pyrolysis of acrylate groups, formation of carbon dioxide by reaction between carboxylic acid and chalk, ionomer formation and formation of an intumescent structure stabilized by a protecting char. Special emphasis is given to the formation of the intumescent structure and its molecular structure as evaluated from 13C MAS‐NMR and 29Si MAS‐NMR, ESCA and XRD analysis. After treatment at 500°C the intumescent structure consists mainly of silicon oxides and calcium carbonate and after treatment at 1000°C the intumescent structure consists of calcium silicate, calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide. A commercially available, densely sintered alpha silicon carbide was tested in air from room temperature to 1700°C using a modified instrumented pendulum unit and standard Charpy size test specimens. The resistance heated silicon carbide specimens exhibited only elastic behavior, even at 1700°C. A compliance analysis of the test revealed a linear elastic decrease of the absorbed impact energy and also a decrease of the fracture stress of the silicon carbide with increasing temperature.  相似文献

This paper deals with some important mechanical properties (hardness, dimensional stability, compressive and flexural strength) of an experimental version of a translucent calcium aluminate dental restorative material. All samples investigated have been made from pre-pressed tablets, with a compaction degree of approximately 60%, hydrated using a 0.15 wt % Li salt solution as an accelerator. The samples were stored in water at 37 degrees C between the measurements. As reference materials one composite, Tetric Ceram, and one glass ionomer, Fuji II, were used with specimens prepared according to the manufacturer's recommendations. For the reference materials some of the properties were published data. The results show that the calcium aluminate material has sufficient mechanical properties to be used as a permanent dental restorative taking as a reference the ISO 9917 and the ISO 4049 as well as the reference materials. In addition the results indicate that the mechanical properties are controlled by the microstructure, which is mainly determined by the grain size of the filler.  相似文献

The effects of steady shear on particulate whey protein isolate (WPI) gels, at pH 5.4, have been investigated by light microscopy (LM) and dynamic oscillatory measurements. The steady shear was performed on suspensions at constant rates between 0.5 and 126/s. The gel point under static conditions (Tg) was around 78 °C and the shearing was performed during heating from 20 to 76 or to 82 °C. The gel point was postponed by the shear up to 82 °C. Steady shear up to 76 °C, at rates less than 6/s, resulted in a weaker storage modulus (G′), less frequency dependence and a higher stress at fracture compared to the unsheared gel. Steady shear up to 82 °C, at rates below 6/s, resulted in the formation of two different types of network structure. One structure was similar in appearance to the unsheared network, showing pores in the range of 50 μm. The other structure was dense, composed of smaller particles than the unsheared network and with pores in the range of 10 μm. The gels composed of two structures showed a lower G′ and stress at fracture compared to the unsheared gel. A shear rate above 24/s up to 76 °C resulted in irregular networks, which were composed of two different types of structures. One was loose and open, similar in appearance to the unsheared network structure. The other structure was dense and compact, and was present as individual aggregates. These gels also showed a weaker G′ than the unsheared gel. A shearing up to 82 °C at rates above 24/s resulted in a coarse, inhomogeneous network structure. The gels showed a weak G′, indicating aggregate break-up during the steady shear.  相似文献

Reports an error in "Counselor deliberate postural lean and communication of facilitative conditions" by Gary L. Hermansson, Alan C. Webster and Ken McFarland (Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1988[Apr], Vol 35[2], 149-153). The date of receipt indicated for the revision of this article was incorrect. This experimental study examined the relation between counselor deliberate postural lean and the communication of intensity, empathic understanding, respect, and genuineness. Results, from 12 male counselors acting as their own controls under three postural lean conditions (forward, backward, and choice) in counseling interaction with female clients, suggested compensatory processes in operation. Making a required lean forward was associated with decreased facilitative levels and backward with increased levels. The latter effects were more marked, with significant differences in intensity and respect. The effects were also more marked with those counselors who, as revealed in their choice session, preferred to move forward rather than backward, with these counselors also being the most effective as assessed by communicated empathy levels. It was concluded that for effective counselors in particular, deliberate postural lean results in a subtle maintenance of an equilibrium of verbal–nonverbal communication behaviors judged as most appropriate to the moment.
