The patterns of oxygen metabolism in the early posthemorrhagic period]

Investigated all links of oxygen homeostasis of patients in early period afterwards surgical stoppage gastro-intestinal bleeding and urgent intravascular volume replacement. Macrodelivery of oxygen (DO2) was reduced in two and more time in comparison with norm predominant in connection with anemia. In spite of the infringement of transport of oxygen through alveolar-capillary membrane (especially in patients with complications and death in early postoperative period), little affected of degree of hemoglobin saturation by oxygen. Despite decrease of erythrocyte zeta-potential, largely expressed in cases of lethal outcome, considerable infringement of passage through microcirculation vessels is fixed was not. The increase of degree of morbidity and anaerobic metabolism in early postoperative period was accompanied of hyperdynamic hemodynamic reaction. The increase of degree of morbidity was accompanied of increase oxygen deficit owing to infringement of oxidoreduction in fabries also.     

Corrosion cracking of welded joints in a pipe steel in a hydrogen-sulfide medium

Conclusions 1. The maximum long-term corrosion strength in the NACE solution was recorded for the specimens welded under the conditions of specimens 2 (3.0 kJ/mm); their threshold stress was equal to 250 MPa (0.7_0.2); for other types of specimens welded with a heat input of 6.0 kJ/mm and 1.25 kJ/mm the threshold stress was equal to 180 and 160 MPa, respectively.2. Hemostasis in patients operated on for abdominal hemorrhage. 3. Boundary deviations of hemostasis

The fibrinolytic process in the plasma of patients operated for abdominal haemorrhages have been investigated. The results allowed to conclude that the blockade of fibrinolysis did not effect on the course of the disease. The high level of the inhibitors and of the platelets hypoaggregation can be considered as a cause increased of the recurring gastrointestinal haemorrhages. It was demonstrated that the probability of DIC-syndrome development increased at the aggravation of the patient's state after the operation.     

Relation between the space flight-induced frequency of dominant lethal mutations and the level of allozyme heterozygosity in Drosophila melanogaster populations

Currently, the treatment of falciparum malaria is seriously compromised by spreading drug resistance. We studied the effects of camptothecin, a potent and specific topoisomerase I inhibitor, on erythrocytic malaria parasites in vitro. In Plasmodium falciparum, camptothecin trapped protein-DNA complexes, inhibited nucleic acid biosynthesis, and was cytotoxic. These results provide proof for the concept that topoisomerase I is a vulnerable target for new antimalarial drug development.     

Some Specific Features of Degradation of Superheater Tubes of the Boilers of Thermal Electric Power Plants Made of 12Kh18N12T Steel

We study the process of degradation and damage for superheater tubes of the pressure boilers of power plants made of austenitic chromium-nickel steel. Evaluation of the resistance of corrosion-proof steels to corrosion cracking in hydrogen sulfide solutions

We study the tendency of corrosion-proof steels of the martensitic, martensite-ferritic, austenitic, austenite-martensitic, and ferrite-austenitic classes to corrosion cracking in hydrogen-sulfide-containing media. We have established that austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum (08Kh17N15M13T and 10Kh17N13M2T) and ferrite-austenitic (12Kh21N5T and 02Kh22N6AM3 steels are the most resistant to fracture: the threshold stresses in NACE solution (5% NaCl solution + 0.5% CH₃ COOH saturated with H₂S, 20±2°C, pH ∼ 3) are not less than 90% of the yield point. __________ Translated from Fizyko-Khimichna Mekhanika Materialiv, Vol. 41, No. 6, pp. 103–107, November–December, 2005.
