The objective of this study was to examine the effects of hygrothermal aging on the durability of a graphite/epoxy woven composite material system. The study was part of a larger project in which the objective was to evaluate and model the effects of moisture, temperature, and combined hygrothermal conditions on the strength and life of a graphite/epoxy woven composite material system. The results presented here represent an extension of the work by Patel and Case (Int. J. Fatigue 22 (2000) 809).

The hygrothermal aging consisted of cyclical temperature and moisture variations which were meant to simulate mission conditions for an advanced subsonic aircraft. Durability studies were carried out on the aged material system in the form of fatigue and residual strength testing under humid and elevated temperature environments. Damage mechanisms and failure modes were determined through fatigue testing, residual strength testing, and nondestructive evaluation.

Changes in physical appearance, thermal analysis results, fracture surfaces, and moisture diffusion behavior all supported the idea that the material was affected by the aging process. However, experimental testing also showed that the initial and residual tensile properties of the aged material were virtually unaffected by the imposed environmental aging (as compared to unaged material testing results), except when tested at elevated temperature. At elevated temperature, both the dynamic stiffness and residual strength were noticeably reduced from that at room temperature.  相似文献

The interfacial microstructures of 96 and 98% polycrystalline alumina joined with single crystal sapphire have been investigated in relation to the joining parameters. Joining has been evaluated based on either using a thin spin-on silica interlayer or by placing the alumina and sapphire in direct contact. The materials were joined by placing the coated or uncoated surfaces in contact and heating in the range of 1340–1475 °C with minimum external load. With the aid of a silica interlayer, sapphire and 98% polycrystalline alumina were successfully joined in 180 min at 1400 °C and above, while samples without a silica interlayer failed to join under these conditions. However, sapphire and 96% polycrystalline alumina were joined both with and without the use of silica interlayer. A variety of interfacial morphologies have been observed, including amorphous regions, fine crystalline alumina, and intimate contact between the sapphire and polycrystalline alumina.  相似文献

This paper describes the ePerSpace research project which aims to significantly increase user acceptance of networked audiovisual systems and applications at home and virtually anywhere by enabling innovative interoperable value-added personalised networked services and applications. Moreover, it aims to develop an open architecture and a framework that will significantly increase the speed of developing novel value-added personalised services by reusing well-defined system components with open APIs. The structure of the paper follows the methodology of the project. It starts with a vision of future personalised services from the users’ perspective by developing five scenarios. These scenarios are then used to extract the requirements of the personalisation framework which is then described in terms of its personalisation, service management, digital home environment management and content adaptation capabilities.  相似文献

This paper represents a portion of the evaluation of the use of Statistical Process Control within the realm of Conventional Computer Process Control. Various control charts commonly utilized in continuous processes are evaluated when subjected to process disturbances typical of continuous processes. The control charts considered are the Moving Average and Moving Range Chart combination, the Individual and Moving Range Chart combination, and the Exponentially Weighted moving Average Chart. The types of process disturbances considered are unit step and linear trend disturbances to the process average. The evaluation is based on the determination of the Average Run Lengths (ARLs) resulting from computer simulations.  相似文献

We studied the antibody response to pneumococcal serotypes 3 and 14 after pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine was administered to 41 children with renal disease. One month after vaccination, 76% and 61% of patients achieved at least a twofold titer rise to serotypes 3 and 14, respectively; this finding was comparable to historic control values. One year after vaccination, the majority of patients retained protective antibody levels. Achieving a titer > or = 1.0 microgram/ml IgG at 1 month was highly predictive of retaining a protective antibody level > or = 0.15 microgram/ml at 1 year.  相似文献

The production of organic (ecological) food of animal origin is done in many ways and uses many different breeds. Therefore a real comparison with conventionally produced food is difficult. From the limited number of published data it appears, that the characteristics of quality of the products, the nutritional, hygienic, sensorial and technological factors, are not very different in both systems of production. In some factors organic food gets better marks, in others the conventionally produced food. The differences are in the production system (process quality) during lifetime of the animals.  相似文献
