Drilling is a most important and crucial operation in the excavation industries.With the objective of looking into the enhancement of diamond drilling performance detailed laboratory investigations were carried out on phosphate rock.The effect of Poly (Ethylene Oxide) (PEO) added to the drilling water was studied by varying machine parameters and PEO concentration.The responses were rate of penetration and torque at the bit rock interface.Slake durability tests were also performed to understand the slaking behavior of phosphate rock in PEO solutions.  相似文献

The pre-processing stage of finite element analysis of the Navier–Stokes equations is becoming increasingly important as the desire for more general boundary conditions, as well as applications to parallel computers increases. The set up of general boundary conditions and communication structures for parallel computations should be accomplished during the pre-processing phase of the analysis, if possible, to ensure efficient computations for large scale problems in computational fluid dynamics. Friction Stir Welding (FSW) of Cu-0.80Cr-0.10Zr (in wt pct) alloy under aged condition was performed to study the effects of process parameters on microstructure and properties of the joint. FSW was performed over a wide range of process parameters, like tool-rotation speed (from 800 to 1200 rpm) and tool-travel speed (from 40 to 100 mm/min), and the resulting thermal cycles were recorded on both sides (advancing and retreating) of the joint. The joints were characterized for their microstructure and tensile properties. The welding process resulted in a sound and defect-free weld joint, over the entire range of the process parameters used in this study. Microstructure of the stir zone showed fine and equiaxed grains, the scale of which varied with FSW process parameters. Grain size in the stir zone showed direct correlation with tool rotation and inverse correlation with tool-travel speed. Tensile strength of the weld joints was ranging from 225 to 260 MPa, which is substantially lower than that of the parent metal under aged condition (~ 400 MPa), but superior to that of the parent material under annealed condition (~ 220 MPa). Lower strength of the FSW joint than that of the parent material under aged condition can be attributed to dissolution of the precipitates in the stir zone and TMAZ. These results are presented and discussed in this paper.

Two independent methods for deriving mesopause temperature using meteor radar installed at an equatorial station, Thumba (8.5° N, 76.5° E), are discussed in this article. This meteor radar-derived mesopause temperature is then compared with two different types of spaceborne measurement, namely (i) Sounding the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry (SABER) and (ii) the Earth Observing System Microwave Limb Sounder (EOS MLS), and a collocated multi-wavelength dayglow photometer (DGPM). The meteor radar-derived temperature is in fairly good agreement with all the three measurement techniques, with an uncertainty of ±10°. This study focuses on a detailed evaluation and inter-comparison of mesopause temperature derived from different measurement techniques. An attempt is also made to compare the suitability of these observations to study planetary waves and other oscillation activities in the mesospheric region.  相似文献

In the present study, amino‐functionalised mesoporous silica microspheres were utilised as support for the covalent immobilisation of Candida antarctica lipase B (CaLB) for the subsequent production of 2,5‐furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) from 2,5‐diformylfuran (DFF). Under the optimised operating conditions of pH 6.5, particle/enzyme ratio of 1.25:1.0 and glutaraldehyde concentration of 4 mM, a maximum CaLB immobilisation yield of 82.4% on silica microspheres was obtained in 12.25 h. The immobilised CaLB was used for the synthesis of alkyl esters, which were utilised along with hydrogen peroxide for FDCA synthesis. The biocatalytic conversion of 30 mM DFF dictated a 77–79% FDCA in 48 h at 30°C; where the turnover number and turnover frequency of immobilised CaLB were 6220.73 mol mol−1 and 129.59 h−1, respectively, for ethyl acetate, against 6297.65 mol mol−1 and 131.2 h−1, respectively, for ethyl butyrate. The disposition of L-694,458, a potent monocyclic beta-lactam inhibitor of human leukocyte elastase, was studied in male Sprague-Dawley rats and rhesus monkeys. After iv dosing, L-694,458 exhibited similar pharmacokinetic parameters in rats and rhesus monkeys. The mean values for its plasma clearance, terminal half-life, and volume of distribution at steady state were 27 ml/min/kg, 1.8 hr, and 4.0 liters/kg in rats and 34 ml/min/kg, 2.3 hr, and 5 liters/kg in rhesus monkeys. The bioavailability of a 10 mg/kg oral dose was higher in rats (65%) than in rhesus monkeys (39%). In both species, concentrations of L-694,458 in plasma increased more than proportionally when the oral dose was increased from 10 mg/kg to 40 mg/kg. In monkeys a protracted plasma concentration-time profile was observed at 40 mg/kg, characterized by a delayed T(max) (8-24 hr) and a long terminal half-life (6 hr). [3H]L-694,458 was well absorbed after oral dosing to rats at 10 mg/kg, as indicated by the high recovery of radioactivity in bile (83%) and urine (6%) of bile duct-cannulated rats. Only approximately 5% or less of the radioactivity in bile, urine, and feces was a result of intact L-694,458, indicating that the compound was being eliminated by metabolism, followed by excretion of the metabolites in feces, via bile. Demethylenation of the methylenedioxyphenyl group resulting in the catechol was the primary metabolic pathway in human and rhesus monkey liver microsomes. In rat liver microsomes, the major metabolite was the N-oxide of the methyl-substituted piperazine nitrogen. In rats dosed iv and orally with [3H]L-694,458, concentrations of radioactivity were highest in the lung (the primary target tissue), adrenals, and liver. L-694,458 was unstable in rat blood and plasma, degrading via a pathway believed to be catalyzed by B-esterases and to involve cleavage of the beta-lactam ring and loss of the methylpiperazine phenoxy group. In vitro studies indicated that in human liver, L-694,458 was metabolized by CYP3A and 2C isozymes, and in both monkey and human liver microsomes the compound acted as an inhibitor of testosterone 6beta-hydroxylation.  相似文献

Poly(butylene terephthalate) nanocomposites with organically modified montmorillonites have been prepared by in‐situ ring opening polymerization of PBT cyclic oligomers. High molecular weight polymers can be obtained by choosing the proper polymerization conditions and catalyst in very short polymerization time (10 min) and low temperature (205°C). A better dispersion of the clay and a consistently higher Mw have been obtained by this method respect to the standard melt intercalation approach, leading to improved thermo‐mechanical properties of the nanocomposite. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A low capacity twin‐bed adsorption refrigeration system has been built with R134a as a refrigerant and activated carbon as the adsorbent. Simple tube‐in‐tube heat exchangers have been fabricated and have been used as the adsorber beds. Activated carbon (granular type) has been filled in the annular space of the inner tube and outer tube. A plate heat exchanger has been used as the condenser and the temperature of cooling water has been maintained between 25°C and 30°C, also the evaporator has been custom designed as per requirements. A mathematical model has also been developed and the results obtained have been found to be comparable. While operating the system in the single‐bed mode a cooling power of 250.4 W has been obtained with a coefficient of performance (COP) of 0.38 with an average evaporator temperature of 18.4°C against a predicted value of 263.7 W with a COP of 0.41. While operating in the twin‐bed mode a cooling power of 281.3 W with a COP of 0.47 with an average evaporator temperature of 17.6°C has been obtained against a predicted value of 294.5 W with a COP of 0.52.  相似文献
