Field experiments were conducted at a Class B biosolids land application site in central Arizona to measure, model, and source-track the off-site transport of aerosols emitted when biosolids were disk-incorporated into soils. Real-time PM10 monitoring provided time-resolved aerosol information sufficient for verifying both off-site concentration and off-site exposure time model results. Under the conditions considered and at a distance of 165?m from the aerosol source, biosolids disk-incorporation resulted in an intermittent exposure to biosolids-derived aerosol concentration between 15 and 40?μg/m3 and an inhalable biosolids dose between 2 and 8?μg. Transport modeling predicted that these doses will decrease with increasing wind speed. In addition, three DNA sequence-based biosolids source tracking methods were applied to aerosol samples and confirmed the presence of biosolids in aerosols at 5, 65, and 165?m from the aerosol source. Field measurements and modeling indicate that the nature of biosolids-derived aerosol exposure is a series of intermittent high concentration puffs, rather than a continuous low concentration.  相似文献

The effects of noise on random jitter in multistage broad-band amplifiers are analyzed. Limiting amplifiers are compared to automatic gain control (AGC) amplifiers with different gain profiles. Results are presented for a 10-Gb/s AGC amplifier implemented in an SiGe process with fT of 45 GHz. Active peaking techniques were used to achieve a maximum gain of 48 dB with 7.8 GHz of bandwidth. The amplifier demonstrates low jitter and less than 0.5 dB of peak-to-peak output amplitude variation over a 50-dB input amplitude range. It consumes 30 mW of power from a 3.3-V supply. The amplifier core occupies 0.1 mm2 and requires no external components  相似文献

A new high-order model for analysing distribution of temperature in periodic composites is proposed. The original scalar elliptic problem with Y-periodic coefficients (Y is a cube) is replaced with a vectorial elliptic problem of constant coefficients. The unknown fields are: the averaged distribution of temperature and the vector field which stands for perturbation of the temperature within the cells of periodicity. The recovery of temperature in the original composite is given by the approximation: 0(x)=0(x) +h a (x/) a (x) analogous with the first terms of the two-scale asymptotic expansion known from the homogenization theory. The functions h are defined as approximations of the solutions to the basic cell problems. In contrast to the two-scale expansion the expression for satisfies the boundary condition.  相似文献

Photoinduced structural transformations in amorphous Sb2Se3–BaCl2–PbCl2 glasses were studied using a differential IR spectroscopy Fourier technique in the spectral region between 100 and 300 cm−1. A stage of the reversible photodarkening is realized in the Sb2Se3 fragments after the first cycle of photoexposure and thermoannealing. The whole scheme of the photo- and thermoinduced transformations in the amorphous system may be explained as a coordination of formation and annihilation of defects. The vibrational density of states calculated using quantum chemical solid state methods confirms our experimental results and their interpretation. Photoinduced photodarkening changes using a CO2 pulse laser (λ=10.6 μm) in new synthesized Sb2Se3–BaCl2–PbCl2 glasses were investigated. At the same time we have studied photoinduced second harmonic generation (SHG) and two-photon absorption (TPA). The possibility of using this glass as perspective materials for IR optoelectronics and nonlinear optics was shown.  相似文献

In this work it is shown that the MIS structure with an ultra-thin (20 A? < xi < 40 A?) oxide is distinguished by a unique mechanism of lateral conduction. The flow of the lateral current between the two metal electrodes formed on the surface of an ultra-thin silicon dioxide is found to take place through the silicon substrate and the two non-equilibrium MIS tunnel diodes formed by the metal electrodes, the ultra-thin oxide, and the silicon. One of these diodes is forward biased and the other reverse biased. It is shown that the main limitation to the lateral current comes from the reverse biased diode. A structure is proposed in which such a lateral current can be efficiently controlled by the injection of minority carriers from the gate of an appropriately formed, conventional MIS tunnel diode into the depletion region of the reverse biased diode, so limiting the lateral current. Various physical phenomena related to this effect are studied and discussed.The MIS lateral tunnel structure considered in this work was fabricated in order to investigate the influence of minority carrier injection on the lateral conduction in MIS tunnel devices. However, the ideas proposed in this work can be developed into useful device structures.  相似文献

A study of the dependence of nanoindentation pile-up patterns on the indentation load and crystallographic orientation is presented. Three different orientations—(001), (011), and (111)—of single crystal copper were investigated. Experiments were conducted on a CSM ultra-nanoindentation tester using a Berkovich tip. The topographic images were obtained using an atomic force microscope. The evolution of pile-up patterns with different applied loads was observed. The results show that for applied loads equal to 0.45 mN and smaller the pile-up patterns do not depend on the crystallographic orientation of the indented surface; instead, they depend on the tip’s geometry. On the other hand, in the case of indentation loads bigger than 2 mN, pile-up patterns on the surfaces of (001)-, (011)-, and (111)-oriented single crystals have fourfold, twofold, and sixfold (or threefold) symmetry, respectively. An intermediate state was also reported. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of residual impressions with maximal applied loads equal to 2 mN and bigger reveals that both pile-up and sink-in patterns are present.  相似文献

The conditions and methods of preparing novel melamine–formaldehyde–cyclohexanone coatings are presented. The coatings were prepared by dissolving melamine in reactive solvents based on formaldehyde and cyclohexanone. The latter were prepared at different molar ratios of the components. We have cloned and sequenced a 1.68-kb cDNA encoding arginine kinase in the honey bee, Apis mellifera. The predicted protein shows a high level of identity to known arginine kinases in invertebrates and to other proteins belonging to the conserved family of ATP: guanidino phospho-transferases. The pattern of expression of arginine kinase has been investigated for the first time in various tissues including the brain, antennae and compound eye. Our results show that three isoforms of arginine kinase, transcribed from a single gene, are expressed in a characteristic pattern in major tissues of the honey bee. Arginine kinase mRNA is relatively abundant in the central nervous system and in the antennae. However, the highest level of expression, that is at least two to three times higher than in the brain, is found in the compound eye of the bee. By contrast, the levels of mRNAs encoding another metabolically important enzyme, alpha-glycerolphosphate dehydrogenase (alpha-GPDH), are low in the eye. These findings suggest that arginine kinase is an important component of the energy releasing mechanism in the visual system that has high and fluctuating energy demands. Furthermore, our results support the role of phosphagen kinases in energy transport in polarised cells and are consistent with the role of arginine kinase as an energy shuttle that delivers ATP generated by mitochondria to high energy-requiring processes, such as massive membrane turnover and pigment regeneration in the retina.  相似文献

Memory for a learned odor preference can be functionally confined to one side of the brain in 6-day-old rat pups by preferentially stimulating a single naris and corresponding olfactory bulb during training. We report here that this form of unilateral learning is present only during the first postnatal week; older pups show bilateral recall of unilateral olfactory experience. The maturation of bilateral learning probably depends on the postnatal growth and development of olfactory commissural fibers, because infantlike unilateral learning and memory is reinstated when these commissural fibers are sectioned before training in older pups. Section of commissural fibers after training also resulted in unilateral preferences. This latter finding indicates that the learned odor preference of older pups tested with the untrained naris open depends on access to unilaterally stored memories on the contralateral side, access provided by the newly developed commissural projections. The results of experimental investigations on the hydrodynamics of flows through conical beds of tablets are presented. An equation for predicting the minimum spouting flow rate, developed earlier on the basis of the Ergun equation, has been verified applying a known equation for tablets. The results of investigations on fluid-to-particle heat and mass transfer coefficients are in agreement with theoretical values obtained from correlation equations describing drying kinetics.  相似文献
