American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) fellows responded to a questionnaire measuring knowledge of 1991 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Generalists' scores on a knowledge scale were positively correlated with reporting CDC and AAP documents as knowledge sources, and negatively correlated with private practice, medical school as a knowledge source, and age. One back-end option for spent HTR fuel elements proposed for future HTR fuel cycles in the EC is an open fuel cycle with direct disposal of conditioned or non-conditioned fuel elements. This option has already been chosen in Germany due to the political decision to terminate the use of HTR technology. First integral leaching investigations at Research Centre Juelich on the behaviour of spent HTR fuel in salt brines, typical of accident scenarios in a repository in salt, proved that the main part of the radionuclide inventory cannot be mobilised as long as the coated particles do not fail. However, such experiments will not lead to a useful model for performance assessment calculations, because a failure of the coatings by corrosion will not occur during experimental times of a few years. In order to get a robust and realistic model for the long-term behaviour in aqueous phases of host rock systems, it is necessary to understand the barrier function of the different parts of an HTR fuel element, i.e. the matrix graphite, the different coating materials, and the fuel kernel.Therefore, our attention is focused on understanding and modelling the barrier performance of the different parts of an HTR fuel element with respect to their barrier function, and on the development of an overall model for performance assessment. In order to understand this behaviour, it is necessary to start with investigations of unirradiated material, and to proceed with experiments with external gamma irradiation to determine the effects of oxidising radiolysis species. Further experiments with irradiated material have to be performed to investigate the influence of the irradiation damage, and finally an investigation has to be made of the irradiated material plus additional gamma irradiation. Experimental data are now available for the diffusive transport of radionuclides in the water-saturated graphite pore system, the corrosion rates of unirradiated graphite with and without external gamma irradiation and unirradiated and irradiated silicon carbide, and for the dissolution rates of UO2 and (Th,U)O2 fuel kernels with and without external gamma irradiation. All investigations were performed in aquatic phases from salt, granite, and clay host rock.  相似文献

Both suppressor oncogene and proliferative activity are believed to indicate colon cancer risk. The retinoblastoma (Rb) gene is a suppressor oncogene affecting cell differentiation. Retinoblastoma gene inactivation is associated with tumour development. However, the relation of the Rb protein to cell proliferation and colon tumour formation is unknown. Retinoblastoma protein quantity was correlated with proliferative activity in flat, unaffected mucosa specimens from 36 cancer patients, 21 non-cancer control subjects and in 29 tumour tissue samples from cancer patients. Nuclear Rb protein was measured by using automated CAS-200 image analysis of monoclonal antibody labelled frozen sections from fresh, surgically removed tissue. All colon cells within 15 whole crypts were imaged. Proliferative activity was also measured by using analysis with Ki-67 monoclonal antibody. Retinoblastoma protein content correlated directly with proliferative activity in flat mucosa of non-cancer control subjects (r = 0.63; P < 0.001; n = 21). A significant correlation was also found in flat mucosa specimens of non-metastatic (Duke's stages A and B) cancer patients (r = 0.52; P < 0.01; n = 22). However, Rb protein did not correlate with proliferation in flat mucosa from metastatic (Duke's stages C and D) cancer patients (r = 0.03; NS; n = 14) or in cancer tissue (r = 0.068; NS; n = 29). Mucosal Rb protein in the colon normally increases as proliferation increases. Dissociation between Rb protein and colon proliferation may occur in flat mucosa in patients with a higher risk of metastatic tumour growth. Future studies comparing Rb protein quantity and proliferative activity may help identify high-risk colon cancer patients.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To determine the sensitivity and specificity of anti-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) IgA in identifying infected infants at or before 6 months of age among the offspring of HIV-infected mothers. DESIGN: Prospective comparison of anti-HIV IgA measurement performed in 2 different laboratories by 2 different methods with the criterion standard of blood culture. SETTING: Five centers in the United States and Puerto Rico. PATIENTS: Population-based sample of 156 infants of HIV-infected mothers in the Women and Infants Transmission Study. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Results of anti-HIV IgA test in relation to the infection status of the infants as measured by blood culture. RESULTS: Six-month plasma or serum samples were first tested in the 2 laboratories. The sensitivity and specificity of anti-HIV IgA in detecting infected infants at this age by laboratories 1 and 2 were 69% and 63% and 100% and 99%, respectively. A look-back study of samples obtained at birth, 1, 2, and 4 months was then performed on all infected children and a matched set of uninfected children. The performance of the test at birth was unsatisfactory in both laboratories (sensitivity 44% and 33%, specificity 43% and 60%), whether peripheral or cord blood was examined. At 1, 2, and 4 months, the sensitivity of the test was lower than at 6 months, but specificity was high. A modest correlation of absent anti-HIV IgA antibody and low percentage of CD4 cells in peripheral blood was seen at 6 months of age. CONCLUSIONS: The anti-HIV IgA test has moderate sensitivity and high specificity for the diagnosis of HIV infection at 6 months of age in the offspring of infected mothers.  相似文献

We describe a new methodology for the “in situ” identification of wire-bond degradation at early stages during high-temperature aging tests on devices with standard plastic packages. This methodology is based on the measurement of the changes in wire bond resistance, which is deduced from the I(V) characteristics of the ESD protection diodes on each contact pad of the circuit. In a first stage, the measurement procedure is described, with emphasis on the initial temperature calibration. This procedure allows for an “in situ” measurement sequence, where the packages stay in the aging chamber, at elevated temperature, during the electrical tests on the pad connections performed at different aging durations. By following accurately the package temperature, using a thermocouple, it is possible to correct for slight changes and thus get a reliable IV measurement for each interconnection. In the second stage, the aging test results are described, showing the evolution of each individual interconnection. We were able to identify the onset of wire-bond degradation through the progressive increase of their resistance. To allow for better determination of the degradation process, once an increase in wire bond resistance was detected, complete I(V) curves were recorded at the pin(s) of interest. For each pin of a TQFP64 package, the tests were performed at least twice a day, with increased density when initial failure is detected (one complete measurement every 3 h). This strategy allowed for the detection of different behaviors on the wire bonds: good ball bonds (i.e. ball bonds with no change in their resistance), ball bond with intermittent opens (these ball bonds are in the process of degradation, and thermo-mechanical stresses induced in the resin by very small temperature changes are sufficient to open or close the circuits) and completely destroyed ball bonds, for which the resistance stays in an “high” level. This approach to wire-bond degradation in plastic packages is very powerful in terms of the number of interconnections which can be followed “in real time” and especially has the advantage, over other classical approaches, that the devices under test stay operational, contrary to what occurs with other types of destructive testing. These electrical test results are compared with metallographic investigations performed after a series of mechanical tests on the ball bonds (wire pull/ball shear tests) on a set of identical devices which undergone exactly the same High Temperature Storage (HTS) aging for 2000 h at 165 °C.  相似文献

A highly integrated transmit integrated circuit intended for dual-band (CELL/PCS) and triple-mode (CDMA/TDMA/AMPS) cellular mobile stations is presented. It features a linear-in-dB gain-control range of 90 dB and provides a high output power of 9 dBm (PCS band) while meeting linearity requirements (-53-dBc ACPR) and achieving the receive-band noise floor of -133 dBm/Hz. It consumes only 130-mA current (3-V supply) in the PCS band. A dynamic-biasing feature results in additional power savings at lower signal levels. The circuit is fabricated in a 30-GHz f/sub T/ BiCMOS technology.  相似文献

The microphotoluminescence (μ-PL) technique is proposed for mapping local stress distribution in GaAs/AlGaAs high power laser diode arrays (LDAs). This technique will be used to monitor the stresses that can be induced on the bars during the packaging process. We show herein that also a detailed study of the stress profiles that could exist in the bars before mounting and after aging can be achieved with this technique.  相似文献

The purpose is to create a new qualification methodology for plastic encapsulated electronic components used in an automotive environment at high temperature. It is based on the acceleration of failure mechanisms like ball bond lift (due to intermetallic Au–Al thickness growth), by combination of environmental stresses. A hybrid technique to simulate the imaging of space-based objects through cirrus clouds is presented. The method makes use of standard Huygens-Fresnel propagation beyond the cloud boundary and a novel vector trace approach within the cloud. At the top of the cloud, the wave front is divided into an array of input gradient vectors, which are in turn transmitted through the cloud model by use of the Coherent Illumination Ray Trace and Imaging Software for Cirrus. At the bottom of the cloud, the output vector distribution is used to reconstruct a wave front that continues propagating to the ground receiver. Images of the object as seen through cirrus clouds with different optical depths are compared with a diffraction-limited image. Turbulence effects from the atmospheric propagation are not included.  相似文献
