Examined the association among psychosocial, cultural, and accessibility factors and participation of Blacks in the rehabilitation process. 186 Ss with disabilities were surveyed. Ss were categorized into 1 of 2 groups corresponding to whether or not they were currently receiving rehabilitation services. Histories of level of participation in the rehabilitation process were also obtained. Perception of service provider capability, self-esteem, emotional support, and attitude toward seeking and receiving services were significant predictors of whether or not Ss were in the current rehabilitation group. Whether or not client/service providers were of the same race/ethnic group, perception of service provider capability, and attitude toward employment were significant predictors of whether or not Ss participated in periodic or more continuous rehabilitation.
