The influence of gel and molecular weight on the properties of natural rubber has been described. Crystallization, stress relaxation and orientation properties of different samples have been studied. Samples having different gel contents but similar molecular weights and samples having the same gel content with varying molecular weights have been prepared by extracting whole natural rubber. The gel content was varied from 1.5 to 29% and molecular weight from 1 × 105 to 9.9 × 105 g mol−1. The gels reduce the overall crystallinity measured by differential scanning calorimetric experiments after freezing the samples for different time periods at −15°C. They also have a stiffening effect on the tensile relaxation modulus and decrease the rate of relaxation significantly. Birefringence, which measures the orientation and stress-induced crystallization, increases with time at high elongation for samples containing gels. At lower elongation, however, the birefringence of unvulcanized samples decreases with time. This decrease is less for gel samples. Natural rubbers of high molecular weight behave similarly in the above properties when compared to low molecular weight samples. The effect of gel is more predominant than that of molecular weight.  相似文献

In summary, we report two cases of mesenteric ischemia following cocaine abuse in young women. In such cases it is always difficult to prove a direct causal relationship between the abuse of cocaine and mesenteric ischemia. Both our patients were relatively young (in their thirties) and did not have any history of atherosclerosis, and their urine toxicity screens were positive for the use of cocaine. Cocaine-related hospital visits are on the increase. Mesenteric ischemia should be considered in the differential diagnosis when evaluating a young patient with a history of cocaine abuse presenting with an acute abdomen.  相似文献

A method is presented for the quantification of haddock in complex food matrices based on real-time PCR. The proportion of haddock muscle tissue to the numbers of a single copy gene has been shown to remain relatively constant, throughout the year and across a number of fishing grounds, using conventional muscle nitrogen content as a comparator. This indicates that quantification of fish, based upon nitrogen content or the numbers of a single copy gene, would return data with a similar degree of accuracy. Thus, a haddock-specific, real-time PCR primer and probe set was designed and optimised, and when used in conjunction with a haddock calibration curve was shown to be able to quantify model samples to within 7% of the true percentage. This is the first report of a real-time assay for the quantification of white fish, which would allow enforcement of the legislation in a complex food matrix containing haddock with other fish species.  相似文献

Prior studies have identified Fibroblast Growth Factor-8 (Fgf8) as a possible proto-oncogene in mouse mammary tumorigenesis. We now report on the generation of two types of Fgf8 transgenic mice that each utilize the mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) promoter. The first transgene (MMTV-Fgf8b) results in the overexpression of the FGF8b isoform exclusively. Male and female MMTV-Fgf8b transgenic mice are viable and fertile. RNA for FGF8b is detected in mammary gland and salivary gland tissues of transgenic mice by Northern blot analysis. Nearly 85% of breeding transgenic female mice developed mammary lobular adenocarcinomas by 12 months of age, while no tumors developed in non-transgenic littermates. Salivary gland tumors occurred in some animals, always in association with mammary tumors. Several MMTV-Fgf8b transgenic mice had lung metastases at necropsy. The second transgene (MMTV-Fgf8) uses the entire Fgf8 gene and potentially encodes all FGF8 isoforms. Fgf8 is expressed by this transgene in several tissues in addition to those described above, notably the ovaries. The two MMTV-Fgf8 founders developed mammary ductal adenocarcinomas at five and eight months of age, and both displayed ovarian stromal hyperplasia. The founders expressing either transgene did not successfully nurse their pups. These results demonstrate that production of FGF8b, and possibly other FGF8 isoforms, in the mammary and salivary glands contributes to oncogenesis, and that ovarian expression results in stromal hyperplasia.  相似文献
