The current methods of connecting the flanges of precast double tee members, and their respective short comings in specific situations, are described. A new carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) flange-to-flange connection is proposed to eliminate the problems associated with repair requirements for the current connections. Design expressions for the currently used mechanical anchorage and the proposed CFRP connection are presented. A comparative calculation for the two systems is given.  相似文献

Al-Li alloys being developed as lighter, substitutes for conventional high strength Al alloys are to be processed by routine methods. During extrusion of a 8090 Al-Li alloy, the extrusion die container failed causing some alarm. This failed die container was analysed to examine if the failure was caused by interaction of Li diffusing out of Al-Li alloy with the carbides of die steel. The evidence, although not conclusive, is sufficient to exercise caution during such processing.  相似文献

Samples of three Indian coals, of widely differing origin and rank, were subjected to flash pyrolysis at a temperature of about 1150 °C for 30 s in vacuo, and under atmospheres of nitrogen, argon, ammonia, and perdeuterobenzene. The gaseous products of the pyrolyses were analysed by infra-red and mass spectroscopy and by gas chromatography. Observed variations in gas compositions are discussed relative to the possible mode of influence by the pyrolytic atmospheres. It would appear that the pyrolytic atmosphere is an important factor in determining the composition of the pyrolysis products; the influence of nitrogen, argon and perdeuterobenzene is a physical one, leading especially to higher yields of olefins.  相似文献

Summary The fatty acid composition of a number of vegetable oils and of two synthetic mixtures of methyl esters are compared by gas-liquid chromatography and by standard methods. The calculated iodine values from G.L.P.C. results are in good agreement with measured iodine values and are indicative of the reliability of the G.L.P.C. values. Standard methods gave lower values for linoleic acid and higher values for linolenic acid than did G.L.P.C. This deviation was particularly evident in oils with a high proportion of linolenic acid,e.g., linseed oil. The results of G.L.P.C. are considered to be accurate to within one unit percentage. Thermal stability of the polyester polymers can be improved by using 1,4-butanediol or ethylene glycol as the polyols instead of diethylene glycol. Issued as N.R.C. No. 5373. Biaxial creep behaviors of stress-relieved and recrystallized thin-walled tubing of Ti-3Al-2.5V and Zircaloy-4 are considered under equal hoop and axial stresses by internal pressurization superimposed with axial load. Both hoop and axial strains were monitored and the ratio of the strain rate along the hoop to that along the axial directions is considered to represent the degree of anisotropy. In both of these alloys, relatively weak hoop direction in cold-worked stress-relieved (CWSR) materials became slightly stronger following recrystallization. Crystallographic texture was considered in terms of x-ray pole figures from which the crystallite orientation distribution functions (CODFs) were derived and crystal plasticity model with slip dominant on prism planes was combined with the CODFs to predict the creep anisotropy. While good correlation was noted for recrystallized materials, distinct deviations are observed for CWSR that are believed to arise from grain shape anisotropy. The relatively small (equiaxed) grain size along the hoop and radial directions results in grain boundary sliding leading to stress enhancements along these directions. This anisotropy in grain boundary sliding is shown to explain the observed deviations.  相似文献
