Active Ca2+ transport was measured in microsomal vesicles prepared from bovine retinae and was compared with that in disk membranes of the photoreceptor cells of the same retina. The 45Ca uptake was dependent on the presence of Mg(2+)-ATP and was inhibited by vanadate or when GTP substituted for ATP. The dependence of calcium uptake on the external free Ca2+ concentration gave a KM = 13 microM or a KM = 0.1 microM for disks and microsomal vesicles, respectively. A phosphorylated intermediate (E-P) of Ca(2+)-ATPase of about 100 kDa was isolated in microsomal vesicles. The E-P formation was strongly inhibited by thapsigargin and partially by 2,5-di-(-butyl)benzohydroquinone. Digestion of disks or microsomes with calpain had no effect on the phosphorylated intermediate, while digestion with trypsin produced two fragments of approximately 55 kDa and 35 kDa. These results suggest that bovine retinal microsomes contain a calcium pump belonging to the SERCA family.  相似文献

Bis(cyclopentadienyl)magnesium (Cp2Mg) is a common source for p-type doping in GaN and AlInGaP materials. It is a white crystalline solid with very low vapor pressure, leading to transport problems similar to solid trimethyindium (TMI). Some of these problems can be alleviated by a newly developed source-solution magnesocene, Cp2Mg, dissolved in a solvent that is essentially nonvolatile. In this paper, we report the growth and comparative results of Mg-doped GaN grown by OMVPE using solid and solution Cp2Mg. Using both sources, we optimized parameters to obtain high-quality GaN growth with hole concentrations up to 1 1018/cm3.  相似文献

To ascertain the threat to human health posed by the inhalation of the particulate phase for secondary cigarette smoke (SCS), it is necessary to determine the doses delivered to airway cells. The risk assessment of SCS particles is complicated by their hygroscopic properties. Inhaled particles that are hygroscopic may absorb the water vapor that is present in a warm, humid environment such as that found in the human respiratory system. As a direct result, the physicochemical characteristics of a particle such as size, shape, density, and composition may experience significant changes. Herein, the effects of hygroscopicity and deposition of SCS particles are examined in the nasopharyngeal region of the respiratory tract through which particles travel before entering the lung. To accomplish this goal, a computer model is defined to describe the anatomical features of the airways within the human head and throat. Then the effects of water vapor uptake and deposition on inhaled particle size distributions are formulated. The results of the simulations indicate that hygroscopicity is a critical factor affecting the dynamics of inhaled SCS.  相似文献

Little is known on both the composition and mechanism(s) of proteinuria associated with the use of mTOR inhibitors, in particular of Everolimus (E). We characterized urinary proteins utilizing an integrated proteomics approach (quantitative essays, 2‐DE, MALDI‐TOF, Western blot) in 48 renal transplant recipients who were alternatively treated with E (n = 31) or with enteric coated mycophenolic acid (EC‐MPA) (n = 17). Twelve E patients (39%) developed high (>3 g/day) or intermediate proteinuria (1–3 g) compared to four (23%) of the EC‐MPA group. Urinary proteins (p<0.001), β2 microglobulin (p<0.001) and α1microglobulin (p<0.025) were higher in E than in EC‐MPA, appeared more rapidly and were inversely correlated with the day of treatment. Proteomics showed a marked increase of all urinary components in E and EC‐MPA patients, major changes involving typical components of glomerular damage (albumin, α1‐Zn glycoprotein, α2HS glycoprotein, leucin‐richα2‐glycoprotein) and specific bio‐markers for E (clusters of α1‐antitrypsin fragments and monoclonal λ chains). Finally, inter‐α‐trypsin‐inhibitor heavy chain H4 precursor was decreased in E and EC‐MPA urine compared to normal urine. In conclusion, E induced massive and generalized proteinuria of mixed glomerular and tubular origin that was correlated with the start of treatment and reached a nephrotic range in few cases. Specific urinary markers reflect renal alterations related to the transplant or specific alterations associated with the drug.  相似文献

Relationship among ethnicity, gender, grandparents' histories of early myocardial infarction, and hemodynamic responses to forehead cold and treadmill exercise were examined in 87 6-to-8-year-olds (57 White, 30 Black). Boys had greater increases in systemic vascular resistance and decreases in cardiac index to forehead cold. Girls had greater increases and quicker recovery in heart rate to dynamic exercise. Blacks had greater increases and slower recovery in diastolic pressure to exercise and forehead cold. Blacks showed greater increases and slower recovery in systemic vascular resistance to forehead cold. Positive-family-history children had greater increases in diastolic pressure and systemic vascular resistance to forehead cold and greater diastolic pressure increases to exercise. Positive-family-history Blacks had greater increases in systolic pressure to exercise and slower recovery than all other groups.  相似文献

A new type of electron bolometric (hot electron) mixer is presented. The authors have demonstrated a three-order-of-magnitude improvement in the bandwidth compared with previously known types of electron bolometric mixers, by using the two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) medium at the hetero-interface between AlGaAs and GaAs. Both in-house, MOCVD-grown material and MBE material were tested with similar results. The conversion loss (Lc) at 94 GHz is presently 18 dB for a mixer operating at 20 K, and calculations indicate that Lc can be decreased to about 10 dB in future devices. Calculated and measured curves of Lc versus PLo and IDC, respectively, agree well. It is argued that there the several different known configurations of electron bolometric mixers will all show wide bandwidth, and that these devices are likely to become important as low-noise terahertz receivers in the future  相似文献

Examined the construct validity of Potential for Hostility ratings derived from the Structured Interview by correlating PH scores with 21 scales from 4 anger/hostility measures: the Buss-Durkee Guilt-Hostility Inventory, Multidimensional Anger Inventory (J. M. Seigel, 1985), Anger Self Report, and R. W. Novaco's (1975) anger inventory. Ss were 82 male college students (mean age 20 yrs) and 50 male faculty, staff and older students (mean age 40 yrs). Factor analyses yielded 3 components (Experience of Anger, Expression of Anger, Suspicion-Guilt). PH was correlated with the Expression of Anger factor in a 2-factor solution and was equally correlated with the Expression of Anger and Experience of Anger factors in a 3-factor solution. Examined the effects of outcome on reactions to an adjudication procedure and the effects of procedures on reactions to an adjudication outcome. 111 male undergraduates were led to believe they had been charged with wrongdoing of which they knew they were innocent. The charge was tried, and the Ss outcomes were determined using procedures (adversary or nonadversary) high or low in perceived procedural justice. Ss were then told that they had been found innocent or guilty. Perceptions of the trial process were assessed either before or after the verdict was announced. After the verdict, additional questionnaires assessed perceptions of the verdict and overall perceptions of procedural and distributive fairness. Results show that disputants saw the adversary procedure as fairer than the nonadversary and that they saw the verdict as more fair and satisfying, and as more accurate and unbiased, when it followed an adversary trial.
