The use of schungite as a partial replacement for coke is practiced in Russia at a number of metallurgical plants, both in
the production of foundry iron (its primary use) and in making conversion pig iron. The largest amount of coke is replaced
when foundry iron is being made, the replacement coefficient in this case having a value within the range 0.8–1.3. Studies
that included continuous monitoring of the temperature of the carbon blocks in blast furnaces with volumes of 1719, 3200,
and 5580 m3 unambiguously demonstrate that the thickness of the slag crust in blast furnaces increases with the use of schungite. Protecting
the lining of the hearth through the use of schungite is also accompanied by a decrease in coke consumption.

The quality of coke has a strong effect on the performance indices of a blast furnace. For a furnace to operate with high productivity and a low coke rate, it is necessary to use coke with high strength characteristics. The Novolipetsk Metallurgical Combine has conducted studies of the effect of coke quality on the operation of blast furnaces of different sizes. The quality of the coke was evaluated on the basis of the following indices: CSR, CRL, the cold-strength indices M10 and M25, and the integral coke-quality index Ig.c used by the Sidmar company. Glycoprotein D (gD) of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1), a homolog of herpes simplex virus gD, represents a major component of the viral envelope and is a dominant immunogen. To study the antigenic properties of the different regions of gD, we have expressed the full-length gD encoding gene and overlapping fragments spanning various regions of the gD open reading frame in a baculovirus (Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus)--insect cell (Spodoptera frugiperda, SF-9) system. Maximum levels of expression for all proteins were obtained 48 to 72 h post infection of SF-9 cells by recombinant viruses. Full-length and truncated recombinant gD proteins reacted specifically with anti-gD monospecific serum as determined by immunoprecipitation and immunoblotting, indicating that the proteins retained their antigenicity. However, based on the reactivity with a panel of gD-specific monoclonal antibodies (Mabs), the full-length recombinant gD lacked proper expression for two highly neutralizing linear epitopes identified by Mabs R54 and 9D6. The rest of the epitopes appeared to be preserved and antigenically unaltered. Immunofluorescence studies of recombinant baculovirus infected SF-9 cells using gD monospecific serum, revealed no direct correlation between cellular localization of the expressed proteins and their amino acid sequences. 相似文献

A glow-discharge plasma bounded by a chemically reactive surface is studied. It is shown that the investigation of the properties of such systems must take into account heterogeneous reactions and chemical feedback. A study is undertaken to explore the dynamics of attaining the steady-state values of the discharge current and the plasma glow intensity in a case where there is gas desorption from the boundary surface. A formal model of the process is proposed that takes into account the accumulation of negative ions in the bulk of the positive column of the discharge. The study of a new remote-sensing technique for the investigation of near-surface wind fields is an important oceanographic problem. This article is focused on a new method of recording wind fields by the analysis of optical images of sea surface and range–time–intensity images (RTI images) of the sea surface. An RTI image constructed from optical profiles of the sea surface is an optical analogue of a side-looking radar image of the sea surface but has a higher spatial resolution and some possibility for remote sensing of sea roughness. It is possible to form RTI images with a range from some tens of metres to tens of kilometres, depending on the spatial resolution needed. A set of original optical devices for recoding RTI images using linear arrays of CCD-photodiodes was created. An analytical model of sea surface radiance for visible light was developed taking into account the polarization of light and shadowing of surface waves for grazing view geometry. The principle of remote sensing of near-surface winds by its manifestations on a waved surface under grazing angles based on a comparison of measured and modelled surface radiance is discussed. Investigations of near-surface wind field features in internal reservoirs and various regions of the seas during the last few years have been conducted by optical systems. The structure of near-surface wind fields, eddies, wind fronts, and katabatic wind flows for ranges from hundreds of metres to some tens of kilometres was recorded and analysed. Derived data of optical monitoring of water surfaces may serve for future investigations of near-surface wind features. 相似文献
