Dynamics of postprandial glycemia in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus as affected by extruded and micronized products from cereal and big crops

The paper analyzes left ventricular structure-fraction relationships in the development of postinfarct aneurysm. The altered internal architectonics induces to systemic hemodynamic changes, drastically elevated intraventricular pressure. This is caused by to the dysfunction of the papillary-trabecular complex in the left ventricular cavity, which in turn. This leads to the fact that the heart work as a positive-displacement pump, by losing its capacity as a centrifugal component, by making the myocardium require additional energy expenditures, which in turn appears as varying heart failure. This investigation is of definite practical value in developing adequate correction methods for postinfarct aneurysm which can occur with the retained or formed certain ratios of cardiac structures.     

Efficient mixed Timoshenko–Mindlin shell elements

The precise representation of rigid body motions in the displacement patterns of curved Timoshenko–Mindlin (TM) shell elements is considered. This consideration requires the development of the strain–displacement relationships of the TM shell theory with regard to their consistency with the rigid body motions. For this purpose a refined TM theory of multilayered anisotropic shells is elaborated. The effects of transverse shear deformation and bending‐extension coupling are included. The fundamental unknowns consist of five displacements and eight strains of the face surfaces of the shell, and eight stress resultants. On the basis of this theory the simple and efficient mixed models are developed. The elemental arrays are derived using the Hu–Washizu mixed variational principle. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the high accuracy and effectiveness of the developed 4‐node shell elements and to compare their performance with other finite elements reported in the literature. Effect of wheat bran included in an anti-atherosclerotic diet on the lipid metabolic indices of ischemic heart disease patients

A study was made of the effect of wheat bran contained by the antisclerotic diet on lipid metabolism in patients with chronic coronary heart disease. Eighty-two patients (males) aged 36-59 years with a history of myocardial infarction of 1- to 15 year-standing were entered into the study. It was ascertained that inclusion into the antisclerotic diet of wheat bran in an amount of 70-80 g does not exert any hypolipidemic action. No elevation of the serum alpha-cholesterol content was noticed either. The augmentation of the cholic acid concentration together with a reduction in the cholesterol content in the hepatic bile attests to its reduced lithogenicity.     

Uranyl and Thorium(IV) Sorption from Dilute Nitric Acid Solutions with Dodecavanadic Acid

Sorption of uranyl on dodecavanadic acid proceeds by the ion-exchange mechanism at relatively low metal concentrations in the range (0.8-2.0) ×10^{- 3} M. Sorption of Th(IV) is practically pH-independent over the pH range 1.5-2.5, but depends significantly on the initial Th(IV) concentration. The maximal capacities of DDVA for uranyl and Th(IV) remarkably differ from each other (9 and 6.3 mg-equiv g^{- 1}, respectively). The uranyl compound formed on contacting DDVA with concentrated uranyl nitrate solution was identified by X-ray diffraction as UO₂(VO₃)₂·nH₂O.     

Effect of pectin on indices of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism in patients with ischemic heart disease

The influence of the diet containing 10 g of citrus pectin, made by "Copenhagen-Pectin-Fabric", on some parameters of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism was studied in 33 coronary heart disease male patients, aged from 29 to 40 years, who had survived documented myocardial infarction. The results of the investigation have evidenced that increased pectin content in the diet promotes the reduction of the total cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood serum, the rise of tolerance to carbohydrates and produces no appreciable effect on the lithogenic potential of bile in the coronary patients.     

Analysis of systems for excitation of variable-speed pumped-storage power-plant hydrogenerators

Main types of frequency converters for the excitation systems of asynchronized motor-generators are analyzed, and comparative analysis of them is performed.     

The precision temperature-measuring and interlock system on the VEPP-4 accelerator facility

The digital system of temperature measurements and protective interlocks that operate at the VEPP-4 accelerator facility is described. The temperature is measured with an absolute accuracy of ±0.5°C within the range from 0 to 70°C and resolution of 0.06°С, measurements are possible in the range of–25 to +125°C, the minimum polling interval of the temperature sensors is 1 s. The hardware makes it possible to create low-cost and reliable easily extendable distributed systems for precise temperature monitoring for large technological or electrophysical facilities. This is the most efficient method when the quantity of temperature sensors reaches several hundreds and the distance between them is several hundred meters.     

Development and trends of applications of the new types of turbogenerators with vector system of field control

The results of the application of asynchronized turbogenerators with vector control and biaxial excitation in the Russian electric power system are presented. Since 2003, five air-cooled asynchronized turbogenerators with powers of 110, 160, and 320 W have been in operation at heat electric power stations. The main results of their testing and operation are given.     

Development of foundations of small-section piles and their introduction to construction

Conclusions 1. The use of small-section piles for the foundations of lightweight buildings and structures significantly reduces material consumption and labor outlays for their construction.2. The technology and embedment equipment, as well as designs of small piles and pile foundations from these designs, which have been developed as a result of experimental construction, will make it possible to introduce these piles on a broader scale in construction practice.3. Comparative study of effects of diet therapy including eiconol or linseed oil on several parameters of lipid metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

It was investigated the influence of a diet supplemented with polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) omega-3 on dynamic of basal glycaemia, lipid profile and composition of fatty acids of erythrocytes in type 2 diabetic patients. Traditional 9 diet was supplemented with fish ("Eiconol", 8 grams per day) or vegetable (linseed oil, 17.5 grams per day) PUFA omega-3. The results investigations indicated that a omega-3 PUFA-enriched diet has a beneficial effects on lipid metabolism. But dietary administration of PUFA omega-3 may be used differently for correction of dislipoproteinemia in diabetic patients.
