Special formulations of theJ integral were used to quantify the combined mode I-mode III fracture behavior of ASTM A710 Grade A steel, a tough material which displays elastic-plastic behavior at room temperature. Experimental fracture initiation loci for two heat-treated conditions were linear inJ i-Jiii space, agreeing with analytical predictions based on linear elasticity. As commonly observed in mode I fracture behavior, large tearing modulus values accompanied largeJ values for mode I and mode III components, individually as well as for totalJ values. There was a pronounced tendency toward antiplane shear flow in the modified compact tension specimens tested. This may result from the concentration of mode III shear strains in the plane of the propagating crack as predicted by slip line theory. Shear fractures with the crack propagating at inclined angles to both load line and plate free surfaces are favored energetically over pure mode I cracks even though the total surface area formed by the latter is much smaller. 相似文献

On the Existence of 2-Imino-2H-1,3-thiazines The title compounds 2 are readily liberated from the 2-amino-1,3-thiazinium salts 1 by treatment with bases. Their stability depends sensitively on the substituents at the imino-N. The imino-N substituted 2a – i are isolable as well-defined coloured substances. Reaction of the 2 as well 1 with nucleophilic agents affords pyrimidine-2-thiones ( 4 , 9 – 11 , 16 – 18 ). In these ring transformations a nucleophilic addition at ring position 6 as primary reaction step is preferred. The imino-N unsubstituted representatives display a more complicated behaviour; the highly enhanced reactivity prevents or handicaps, respectively, any isolation. As exemplified in the base-induced ring-transformation of 1 m to the pyrimidine derivative 19 , these 2 are able to react as nucleophiles too, and versatile intermolecular self-reactions are increasingly favoured. 相似文献

Theoretical Investigations on the Decomposition Equilibrium of Urea in Gaseous State and Aqueous Solution There is empirical evidence that among the two possible decomposition equilibria of urea in the gaseous and aqueous states the desammonation process prevails. In the present work the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions of desammonation and dehydration based on intramolecular mechanisms were examined by means of quantum chemical methods. The application of MNDO method yields correct structural data, dipole moments and ionisation potentials; the solvation is taken into account using NDDO based solvation and reaction field models. Maximum deviations concerning enthalpies of formation in π-electron rich compounds reach up to 40kJ/mole. A detailed examination of the energy hyperfaces reveals that the dehydration is kinetically hindered by a significantly high activation barrier. This situation is not essentially altered by taking into account nonspecific solvent effects in aqueous solution. 相似文献

Monocytes expressing the inflammation suppressing active CD11b, a beta2 integrin, may regulate neuroinflammation and modify clinical outcomes in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In this single site, retrospective study, peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 38 individuals living with ALS and 20 non-neurological controls (NNC) were investigated using flow cytometry to study active CD11b integrin classical (CM), intermediate (IM) and non-classical (NCM) monocytes during ALS progression. Seventeen ALS participants were sampled at the baseline (V1) and at two additional time points (V2 and V3) for longitudinal analysis. Active CD11b+ CM frequencies increased steeply between the baseline and V3 (ANOVA repeated measurement, p < 0.001), and the V2/V1 ratio negatively correlated with the disease progression rate, similar to higher frequencies of active CD11b+ NCM at the baseline (R = −0.6567; p = 0.0031 and R = 0.3862; p = 0.0168, respectively). CD11b NCM, clinical covariates and neurofilament light-chain plasma concentration at the baseline predicted shorter survival in a multivariable and univariate analysis (CD11b NCM—HR: 1.05, CI: 1.01–1.11, p = 0.013. Log rank: above median: 43 months and below median: 21.22 months; p = 0.0022). Blood samples with the highest frequencies of active CD11b+ IM and NCM contained the lowest concentrations of soluble CD11b. Our preliminary data suggest that the levels of active CD11b+ monocytes and NCM in the blood predict different clinical outcomes in ALS. 相似文献

Self-organized, buried InAs quantum dots covered by an AlAs diffusion barrier were investigated under UHV conditions using grazing incidence X-ray diffraction. The experimental data is compared to the simulated results obtained by Finite Element Method and Distorted Wave Born Approximation. We have found that the simulated data could be compared to the experimental one only after convolution by the resolution element which can be estimated from the experiment. By adjusting the simulation parameters we were able to find good agreement between the simulated and the measured data. 相似文献

This study examined the effects of procedural justice on state-dependent self-esteem using the group-value model and attribution theory to present competing theoretical perspectives. The group-value model predicts a positive relationship between self-esteem and fair procedures. In contrast, attribution theory suggests procedural fairness interacts with outcome favorability to influence self-esteem. Thus, fair procedures will result in higher self-esteem ratings than unfair procedures when the outcome is positive but will result in lower self-esteem ratings than unfair procedures when the outcome is negative. The results of a laboratory and field study provide converging evidence to support the attribution theory predictions. Sheet steels are commonly used in automotive powertrain applications wherein formed and assembled components undergo a copper brazing operation as part of the manufacturing process. For high performance applications including transmission pump housings and turbines, specially processed microalloyed steels have been developed and specified in order to develop the desired mechanical properties after exposure to brazing temperatures of ~1100 °C. New families of advanced high strength steel (AHSS) sheet are currently being developed and implemented. These are typified by increased alloy levels and exhibit unique property combinations that are particularly suited to auto body applications requiring the dual characteristics of high formability and high strength. Here it is considered that such grades may also be suited to powertrain components requiring high initial formability coupled with high final strength after copper brazing. That is, transformation strengthening during cooling after brazing is envisioned as a potential strengthening mechanism available with these new steels. In this work, initial screening results are reported to elucidate the response of some experimental AHSS to a simulated copper brazing operation during which the steels are taken into the austenitic temperature range and subsequently cooled at moderate rates to ambient conditions. 相似文献

The turnover of soil organic matter (SOM) maintains a dynamic chemical environment in the forest floor that can impact metal speciation on relatively short timescales. Here we measure the speciation of Pb in controlled and natural organic (O) soil horizons to quantify changes in metal partitioning during SOM decomposition in different forest litters. We provide a link between the sequestration of pollutant Pb in O-horizons, estimated by forest floor Pb inventories, and speciation using synchrotron-based X-rayfluorescence and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. When Pb was introduced to fresh forest O(i) samples, it adsorbed primarily to SOM surfaces, but as decomposition progressed over two years in controlled experiments, up to 60% of the Pb was redistributed to pedogenic birnessite and ferrihydrite surfaces. In addition, a significant fraction of pollutant Pb in natural soil profiles was associated with similar mineral phases (approximately 20-35%) and SOM (-65-80%). Conifer forests have at least 2-fold higher Pb burdens in the forest floor relative to deciduous forests due to more efficient atmospheric scavenging and slower organic matter turnover. We demonstrate that pedogenic minerals play an important role in surface soil Pb sequestration, particularly in deciduous forests, and should be considered in any assessment of pollutant Pb mobility. 相似文献
