New Technology for Producing Molybdenum Wire Billets

On the basis of systematic studies of intense methods for metal forming, a production scheme has been developed, substantiated by experiment and realized for manufacturing molybdenum wire. The main stages are helical rolling of small rounded bars, vibratory drawing with induction heating of wire billets, and cold wire drawing with hydrodynamic introduction of lubricant and application to the tool of vibration in the transitional stages of the process (start-up, speed-up, slow-down, and stopping the pulling tool drive).     

Theoretical Foundations and Implementation of High-Temperature Electrochemical Synthesis of Tungsten Carbides in Ionic Melts

Thermodynamic and voltammetric studies of tungsten- and carbon-containing melts were carried out to find the conditions for the high-temperature electrochemical synthesis of tungsten carbide coatings and powders.     

Resonant frequencies of a cavity with a cylindrical hole in a wall of infinite thickness

A variational method is presented for evaluating the electric and magnetic polarisabilities of a cylindrical hole of small radius a in a wall of infinite thickness. The polarisabilities p = ?0.09105a3 and m = 0.15062a3 are obtained, and enable the determination of the resonant frequency shifts for a cavity with the small hole.     

Electrochemical synthesis of titanium diboride in the dispersed state from halide melts

A study is made of the electrolytic deposition of titanium boride powders from halide melts. The conditions required for the deposition of different phases are determined. On the whole, the synthesis process is controlled by interrelated factors: electrolyte composition, current density, and the temperature and duration of the electrolysis operation.     

Strengthening of a Damaged Multistory Building Constructed on a Slope Composed of Soil Prone to Slump-Type Settlement

The case of the deformation of a multistory tenement building on the slope of a ravine composed of soils prone to slump-type settlement is discussed. Measures taken to strengthen the foundations and slope, and results of observations on the effectiveness of their use are cited.     

Properties of electrolytic dispersed powders of tungsten and molybdenum carbides

We investigated the physicomechanical and service properties of electrolytic dispersed powders of tungsten and molybdenum carbides produced by high-temperature electrochemical synthesis. We show the possibility of using them as a hard ceramic alloy and catalyst in reactions of electrorelease and electrodissolution of hydrogen. New and revised standards for coke production

The need for new and revised standards for coke production in Ukraine and Russia is outlined. Such standards should address improvements in plant operation, working conditions, environmental protection, energy conservation, fire and explosion safety, and economic indices.
