Adaptive weighted fuzzy rule-based system for the risk level assessment of heart disease

Expert’s knowledge base systems are not effective as a decision-making aid for physicians in providing accurate diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases due to vagueness in information and impreciseness and uncertainty in decision making. For this reason, automatic diagnostic fuzzy systems are very time demanding to improve the diagnostic accuracy. In this paper, we have developed an automatic fuzzy diagnostic system based on genetic algorithm (GA) and a modified dynamic multi-swarm particle swarm optimization (MDMS-PSO) for prognosticating the risk level of heart disease. Our proposed fuzzy diagnostic system (FS) works as follows: i) Preprocess the data sets ii) Effective attributes are selected through statistical methods such as Correlation coefficient, R-Squared and Weighted Least Squared (WLS) method, iii) Weighted fuzzy rules are formed on the basis of selected attributes using GA, iv) MDMS-PSO is employed for the optimization of membership functions (MFs) of FS, v) Build the ensemble FS from the generated fuzzy knowledge base by fusing the different local FSs. Finally, to ascertain the efficiency of the adaptive FS, the applicability of the FS is appraised with quantitative, qualitative and comparative analysis on the publicly available different real-life data sets. From the empirical analysis, we see that this hybrid model can manage the knowledge vagueness and decision-making uncertainty precisely and it has yielded better accuracy on the different publicly available heart disease data sets than other existing methods so that it justifies its adaptability with different data sets.     

Signal Anxiety, Defense, and the Pleasure Principle.

Freud equivocated between 2 notions of defense: defense as directed against unpleasure and defense as the blocking of the energy or cathectic potential of the drive. This preserved the quantitative-energic-biological model of anxiety in defense in the 2nd theory of anxiety, rather than developing fully the experiential- qualitative-psychological model of anxiety introduced by the structural theory. The pleasure principle and not anxiety supplies the motive for defense. Signal anxiety, as the epitome of unpleasure, is the basic goal of defense and not the drives, ideas, other affects, or the superego. Defending against these is the means of accomplishing that goal. Signal anxiety is an ego function with appraisal, alarm, and defensive phases. There are metapsychological and technical implications of this approach. Intrapsychic intersubjective conflict and defense in modern Freudian theory: A response to Stolorow (2005).

Stolorow (see record 2005-01622-017) objected to my stating in my discussion of signal anxiety--the modern Freudian notion of conflict--(Shill, see record 2004-11107-008) that intersubjective psychoanalysis does not address conflict "at all." Instead of addressing the issue of intrapsychic conflict, which is the actual focus of my article and the context of my comment, Stolorow counters with his own "vocabulary" of conflict that is confusing and vague. Stolorow rejects the notion of intrapsychically generated conflict and "the intrapsychic" because he focuses exclusively on the intersubjective aspects of conflict and does not consider that, in the last instance, psychological conflict is always internal and intrinsic to the manner in which the mind functions. By contrast, contemporary Freudian conflict theory--signal anxiety theory--is an intrapsychic, intersubjective theory in which the ego rehearses the feared scenario unconsciously in fantasy--intersubjective in nature--and triggers a defensive response aimed at quelling or at least mitigating the signal anxiety being experienced. Signal anxiety is a hypothetical construct and its operation refers to subjectively experienced affect states in an intrapsychic intersubjective conflict. Reliability in deep brain stimulation

Neurostimulation has been used successfully for disabling tremor disorders and Parkinson's disease. Electrodes are implanted into the deep brain structures with leads extending down to the chest and connecting to the programming hardware and battery source (implantable pulse generator). The only currently U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved treatment of this type is the Activa Therapy from Medtronic, Inc., now in the US market since 1997 and available worldwide. Reliability issues pertaining to the design, manufacturing, and clinical use of this device, with attention paid primarily to those issues unique to implantation and use in humans, will be reviewed.     

海底管道微小泄漏球形内检测器整体设计

针对海底管道微小泄漏检测,提出管道球形内检测器整体设计方案。文章从整体平台方案、硬件电路设计以及下位机软件设计三方面介绍了球形内检测器的整体结构。整体平台方案阐述了各模块的作用及相互之间的关联。硬件电路设计包括处理器的选取、存储模块的选取与设计和电源模块管理等;方案最终选用Samsung公司基于ARM1176架构的S3C6410处理器,速度等级为Class10的TF卡,采用10节电池总容量为31Ah组成的电池组。软件设计包括驱动程序及应用程序的设计,其中后者采用了高效的多线程编程方式。
