In this study, fresh and processing quality traits were collected on a total of 312 Country Hams. Phenotypic correlations between traits were estimated and numerous values were significantly different (P<0.05) from zero. Yield was significantly correlated with several fresh pork quality traits measured on the fresh hams, including subjective color (0.34) and lipid percentage (0.32). Some meat color traits were significantly correlated, including associations between the color scores taken on the fresh and cured hams. Correlations between fresh pork quality traits were also determined, with results showing significant correlations between ultimate pH and other pork quality traits. The results indicate that yield can be maximized if hams with good fresh pork quality parameters are used for curing. The correlations estimates are helpful for understanding of the biological mechanisms behind the production of dry-cured hams and can potentially be used to improve the efficiency of the dry-cured ham production chain.  相似文献

Existing methods for the measurement of crack position (and hence crack velocity) are briefly reviewed. Those methods are principally based on the optical, mechanical, electrical or acoustic behaviour of a cracking sample, or on an inspection of the fracture surfaces. None of the above techniques fulfills all conditions required to measure continually slow and fast crack growth in polymers up to 250°C, the only method capable of doing this is a potentiometric gauge without support. The development and application of such a graphite gauge to crack propagation in polymers is described in this paper. The experimental arrangement in general and the results obtained from “instrumented samples” in Charpy impact tests and from crack propagation across an interface between dissimilar materials are discussed and the advantages (large sensitivity, range of crack speeds from 10?7 to 103 m sec?1) and disadvantages (gauge is also sensitive to plastic deformations) are indicated.  相似文献

Clinical trials with intravenous cladribine infusions in pretreated patients with Waldenstr?m's macroglobulinaemia have shown a response rate of 40%. Our pharmacokinetic studies revealed that the bioavailability of subcutaneous cladribine is complete but that the concentration-time profile is very different from intravenous administration. We designed this phase II multi-institutional trial to study the activity and toxicity of cladribine given as s.c. bolus injections in patients with symptomatic Waldenstr?m's macroglobulinaemia. Between May 1993 and October 1995, 25 patients were accrued: male/female 18/7, median age 65 years (range 44-85). All except one patient had been pretreated with more than one regimen (median 2, range 0-10). 18 patients had progressed under previous therapy and six were in relapse. All patients received cladribine for a total dose of 0.5 mg/kg per cycle as s.c. bolus injections divided over 5 d at > or = 4 week intervals, for a maximum of six cycles. All 25 patients were evaluable for toxicity and response. A total of 67 cycles were administered (median 3 cycles, range 1-6). Overall response rate including disease stabilization which had been progressive under previous therapy was 68%. 10 patients (40%, 95% CI 21-61%) achieved a partial remission. Seven responders had been progressive under previous therapy. Maximum responses were reached no later than the third cycle. Median time to treatment failure and remission duration were 4.4 (range 0.5-33) and 8 months (5-29), respectively. Four patients (16%) suffered from infections W.H.O. grade > or = 2 (pneumonia grade 2, Staphylococcus septicaemia grade 3, viral encephalitis and pneumonia, both grade 4 with complete resolution). No other severe adverse events were observed. Cladribine given as s.c. 5 d bolus injections was found to be active in pretreated Waldenstr?m's macroglobulinaemia and resulted in durable remissions.  相似文献

Differences between porcine stress syndrome (PSS) normal (NN) and carrier (Nn) Landrace dams were determined for adjusted number of pigs born alive, adjusted number of pigs at 21 d, adjusted 21-d litter weight, proportion of pigs surviving to 21 d, and farrowing interval. Data were analyzed from a total of 841 females, 623 normal (NN) and 218 carriers (Nn) having 2,231 and 869 records, respectively. Three susceptible (nn) females from two herds were dropped from the analysis because of their small contribution to the total number of records. Frequency of the recessive PSS allele ranged from .07 to .28 in the nine herds involved in this study. Data were adjusted using Landrace breed-specific adjustments and analyzed with mixed-model derivative-free REML procedures fitting the dams' PSS genotype as a fixed effect in the model. Only females having two or more successive parities were used in the analysis of farrowing interval, resulting in a reduction of total records analyzed to 2,201 (1,564 NN and 637 Nn records) from 632 females (445 NN and 187 Nn females). No differences between NN and Nn dams were observed for adjusted number of pigs born alive, adjusted number of pigs at 21 d, adjusted 21-d litter weight, proportion of pigs surviving to 21 d, and farrowing interval. The results of this investigation indicate no significant maternal performance differences between PSS NN or Nn Landrace dams.  相似文献

Cannulation of the papilla has been successful in 144 out of 197 ERCPs. The rate of success increases with the experience of the endoscopist. The intended filling of the pancreatic duct was successful in 87%, of the bile ducts in 64% and of both duct systems in 28%. The correct diagnosis was made in 77% of pancreatic affections, 71% of biliary diseases and in 43% when both duct systems had to be evaluated. 10 ERCP findings disagreed with the final diagnosis, mainly because the distinction between acute and chronic pancreatitis was not correct. The differentiation of chronic pancreatitis from pancreatic carcinoma is not easy and the evaluation of processes localized to the papilla may be difficult. Complications occurred in 6.6%. It is concluded that the ERCP should be limited to regional hospital centers and should be performed only in cases with well defined indications.  相似文献

Solvent additives provide an effective means to alter the morphology and thereby improve the performance of organic bulk‐heterojunction photovoltaics, although guidelines for selecting an appropriate solvent additive remain relatively unclear. Here, a family of solvent additives spanning a wide range of Hansen solubility parameters is applied to a molecular bulk‐heterojunction system consisting of an isoindigo and thiophene containing oligomer as the electron donor and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC61BM) as the electron acceptor. Hansen solubility parameters are calculated using the group contribution method and compared with the measured solubilities for use as a screening method in solvent additive selection. The additives are shown to alter the morphologies in a semipredictable manner, with the poorer solvents generally resulting in decreased domain sizes, increased hole mobilities, and improved photovoltaic performance. The additives with larger hydrogen bonding parameters, namely triethylene glycol (TEG) and N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP), are demonstrated to increase the open circuit voltage by ~0.2 V. Combining a solvent additive observed to increase short circuit current, poly(dimethylsiloxane), with TEG results in an increase in power conversion efficiency from 1.4 to 3.3%.  相似文献
