At high temperatures in clean oxidizing environments, SiC forms a very protective SiO2 film, but, in environments containing low levels of gaseous alkali salt contaminants or where condensed salts may deposit on the surface, the resistance of the film is significantly reduced. Oxidation kinetics of SiC were measured by continuous thermogravimetric analysis in a controlled environment containing CO2 , H2 O, and O2 plus low levels of potassium-containing salts. Potassium was found to be incorporated into the SiO2 scale and to significantly change its transport properties and its morphology. The rate of scale formation was found to increase directly in proportion to K in the scale. A change in mechanism was observed when water vapor was added to the reacting gas stream. 相似文献

Low-power and high-speed discrete cosine transform (DCT) implementation of the images captured by the satellites presents a hardware design problem. The cost of the DCT implementation is dominated by the complexity of the multiplication of input data (image) with the DCT matrix. The techniques for minimising the complexity of multiplication by employing a differential pixel method are presented. In the proposed method 8times8 blocks of input image matrix are considered, the difference between the adjacent pixels is calculated and those differential pixels are used in DCT transformation. Synthesis results on 0.18 mum CMOS technology show that the proposed method gives an average of 13.2% reduction in power consumption and 10.9% improvement in speed over the conventional method. This paper describes a self-aligned fabrication process for diamond gated field emitter array (FEA). Utilizing the non-conformal coverage sputtering conditions of silicon oxide, an interesting “sphere on cone” structure is formed on diamond nano tip array, which is the key point of gate hole opening process. This structure causes shadowing at certain regions of side-wall during Ti / Au gate metal deposition. Removal of “sphere” by wet etching leads to the successful fabrication of a single crystalline diamond gated FEA. Scanning electron microscope observations reveal the fabrication of a uniform emitter array with tip radius of curvature (20 nm) and gate hole (1.4 μm). We also confirmed that no noticeable physical damage exists on tip. In field emission characteristics of the fabricated single crystal diamond gated FEA, gate voltage control of field emission current is realized. 相似文献

A simple and efficient new method for QRS detection in Electrocardiogram (ECG) is proposed in this paper. Initially data is preprocessed using two stage median filter for removing baseline drift. The second stage enhances the peaks of ECG wave components by using sixth power of signal. The next stage identifies the QRS complex by taking a variable window size. The detection sensitivity (Se) and positive predictivity (+P) of CSE (Common Standards for Quantitative Electrocardiography) measurement database, MIT/BIH (Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Beth Israel Hospital) Arrhythmia database, European ST-T database and QT database are Se 99.51 & +P 99.69%, Se 99.21 & +P 99.34%, Se 99.53 & +P 99.72% and Se 99.87 & +P 99.95% respectively. These four standard databases used to perform QRS detection considered 368 cases, tested 1,006,168 beats and achieved overall average sensitivity 99.52% and positive predictivity 99.69%. Electro-chemical spark machining (ECSM) is an innovative hybrid machining process, which combines the features of the electro-chemical machining (ECM) and electrodischarge machining (EDM). Unlike ECM and EDM, ECSM is capable of machining electrically non-conducting materials. This paper attempts to develop a thermal model for the calculation of material removal rate (MRR) during ECSM. First, temperature distribution within zone of influence of single spark is obtained with the application of finite element method (FEM). The nodal temperatures are further post processed for estimating MRR. The developed FEM based thermal model is found to be in the range of accuracy with the experimental results. Further the parametric studies are carried out for different parameters like electrolyte concentration, duty factor and energy partition. The increase in MRR is found to increase with increase in electrolyte concentration due to ECSM of soda lime glass workpiece material. Also, the change in the value of MRR for soda lime glass with concentration is found to be more than that of alumina. MRR is found to increase with increase in duty factor and energy partition for both soda lime glass and alumina workpiece material. 相似文献

Quality criteria used in the computer-aided design and analysis of casting processes typically relate geometric, thermal, or solidification parameters to structural features such as centerline shrinkage and microporosity. Quality criteria for the prediction of porosity in castings have been used successfully in steel, but the application of criteria functions to nonferrous alloys has been less successful. Recent work suggests that the dominating mechanism that determines the amount and distribution of porosity in castings is strongly dependent on the solidification mode of the alloy and the solidification conditions. This paper presents the design, fabrication and reliability testing of a double spiral platinum-based MEMS hotplate for gas sensing applications. The structure of MEMS hotplate consists of a 0.7 µm-thick thermally grown SiO2 membrane of size 120 µm × 120 µm over which a double spiral platinum resistor is laid out. The hotplate membrane is supported by its four arms connected to the Si-substrate. The design and simulation of the hotplate structure was carried out using MEMS-CAD Tool COVENTORWARE. Based on the design, a double spiral platinum resistor of 103 Ω is fabricated on SiO2 membrane using lift-off technique. The platinum deposition is carried out using DC sputtering technique. Bulk micromachining of Si is done from front side of the structure to create the suspended SiO2 membrane. The temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of platinum is measured and found to be 2.19 × 10?3/ °C. The TCR value is used for temperature estimation of the hotplate. The test results show that the microhotplate consumes only 20 mW power when heated up to 500 °C. For reliability testing of fabricated structure, the hotplate is continuously operated at 300 °C for 1.8 h. Also, it can sustain at least 61 cycles pulse-mode operation at 530 °C with ultra-low resistance and temperature drifts. The structure can sustain a maximum temperature and current of 611 °C and 11.55 mA respectively without any damage. 相似文献
