The intrinsic birefringence Δn0 and photoelastic coefficient C of poly(methyl methacrylate), poly(2,2,2‐trifluroethyl methacrylate), poly(phenyl methacrylate), and poly(2,2,3,3,3‐pentafluorophenyl methacrylate) were determined. We categorized these methacrylate polymers into four birefringence‐types, even though their molecular structures differed only by the substituents on the side chains. Based on the results of Δn0 and C, novel polymers that exhibit neither orientational nor photoelastic birefringence, i.e., zero–zero‐birefringence polymers, were designed and synthesized by quaternary copolymerization system. Furthermore, we confirmed that the mechanisms of orientational birefringence and photoelastic birefringence generation were different in these methacrylate polymers. The conformation of the repeat unit of the polymers was nearly constant during the generation of orientational birefringence. In contrast, the conformation of the repeat unit of the polymers changed during the generation of photoelastic birefringence in the glassy state. These findings demonstrated the reasonability of evaluating orientational and photoelastic birefringence separately, as well as the adequacy of the classification of polymers into four birefringence‐types. Given these results and the fact that zero–zero‐birefringence polymers could be prepared successfully by four‐birefringence type monomers, we demonstrated the reasonability of the method for designing the zero–zero‐birefringence polymers. Segregation of reactive metals at the bonding interface has been observed in various ceramic and/or metal joints bonded with reactive metal-bearing braze alloys. When a d.c. of 20 mAcm−2 is applied to the ceramic/braze/ceramic system at a brazing temperature of, say, 1373 K, the electric field assists the segregation at the braze-ceramic interface on the cathode side and suppresses the segregation at the interface on the anode side. This may imply that reactive metal atoms in the braze can migrate as a cation. E.m.f. measurement on the ceramic (AIN or ZrB2)-metal foil systems with increasing temperature shows that a negative e.m.f. to the ceramic pole appears from about 900 K for AIN and from 500 K for ZrB2, as does the thermally stimulated current in polymers. These temperatures coincide well with those where the electrical conductivity of AIN and ZrB2, respectively, begins to increase with increasing temperature. Therefore, it is considered that the polarization of the ceramics may take place and assist the migration, and consequently segregation, of reactive metals in braze alloys to the braze-ceramic interface during brazing.  相似文献

When ground-fault problems occur on a cable line, immediate fault location and restoration are required. Therefore, various new methods to locate the fault point instantaneously have been investigated to replace such conventional methods as the Murray loop method and the pulse radar method [1]. These methods require a long time to locate the fault point. One possible fault location method is to sense the temperature rise following a ground fault using a fiber optic distributed temperature sensor. Application of this method was found feasible through sensing the temperature rise at a ground-fault test using a thermocouple as a temperature sensor with test cables [4]. A power/optical composite cable was prepared experimentally and after verifying its thermal mechanical performance, the temperature rise at an incidence of a fault was determined and the anticipated performance was demonstrated in a ground-fault test. Extracellular vesicles (EV) are important for delivering biologically active substances to facilitate cell-to-cell communication. Milk-derived EV are widely known because of their potential for immune enhancement. However, procedures for isolating milk-derived EV have not been fully established. To obtain pure milk-derived EV and accurately reveal their function, such procedures must be established. The aim of the present study was to compare methods using commercially available kits for isolating milk-derived EV. Initially, we investigated procedures to remove casein, which is the major obstacle in determining milk-derived EV purity. We separated whey using centrifugation only, acetic acid precipitation, and EDTA precipitation. Then, we isolated milk-derived EV by ultracentrifugation, membrane affinity column, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), polymer-based isolation, or phosphatidylserine-affinity isolation. Using EV count per milligram of protein, which is a good indicator of purity, we determined that acetic acid precipitation was the best method for removing casein. Using nanoparticle tracking analysis, protein quantity analysis, and RNA quantity analysis, we comprehensively compared each isolation method for its purity and yield. We found that SEC-based qEV column (Izon Science) could collect purer milk-derived EV at higher quantities. Thus, a combination of acetic acid precipitation and qEV can effectively isolate high amounts of pure extracellular vesicles from bovine milk.  相似文献

The characteristics of a rotating stall of an impeller and diffuser and the evolution of a vortex generated at the diffuser leading-edge (i.e., the leading-edge vortex (LEV)) in a centrifugal compressor were investigated by experiments and numerical analysis. The results of the experiments revealed that both the impeller and diffuser rotating stalls occurred at 55 and 25 Hz during off-design flow operation. For both, stall cells existed only on the shroud side of the flow passages, which is very close to the source location of the LEV. According to the CFD results, the LEV is made up of multiple vortices. The LEV is a combination of a separated vortex near the leading- edge and a longitudinal vortex generated by the extended tip-leakage flow from the impeller. Therefore, the LEV is generated by the accumulation of vorticity caused by the velocity gradient of the impeller discharge flow. In partial-flow operation, the spanwise extent and the position of the LEV origin are temporarily transmuted. The LEV develops with a drop in the velocity in the diffuser passage and forms a significant blockage within the diffuser passage. Therefore, the LEV may be regarded as being one of the causes of a diffuser stall in a centrifugal compressor.  相似文献

Molybdenum specimens prepared by two processes, powder-metallurgy (PM) and electron-beam melting (EB), were irradiated to a fast neutron fluence of 2.74 × 1024n/m2 (En? 1 MeV) at about 600°C (873 K), and their mechanical properties were studied in detail. It was shown that the degree of irradiation embrittlement in EB-Mo was smaller than that in PM-Mo, which might be caused by stronger grain-boundaries and probably smaller irradiation-hardening in the former. From the relation between the recovery of ductility and microstructural changes in post-irradiation annealed PM-Mo at 800 (1073 K), 1000 (1273 K) and 1200°C (1473 K), it was concluded that the recovery resulted from a decrease of irradiation hardening due to a rearrangement and a disappearance of depleted-zones, dislocation-loops and voids in order with increasing annealing temperature. An anomalous mode of fracture was observed in as-irradiated specimens, which consisted of inhomogeneous deformation, then brittle fracture not at the center but at the root of the deformation neck. This mode was observed in a narrow temperature range near the DBTT. A possible mechanism is discussed.  相似文献
