Several ways to produce microporous and mesoporous carbon monoliths by template assisted synthesis routes are described. Pressed zeolite (HY) and silica powder tablets have been used as templates. Sucrose acts as a carbon precursor and as a binder between the carbon particles as well. In the case of zeolite template, the carbon porosity could be increased by additional loading of the template with ethene. Due to the balance between mechanic stability and porosity of the carbon monolith, an optimal amount of sucrose is required. Summary Morphology and thermal characteristics of poly (trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT)/ metallocene linear low-density polyethylene (m-LLDPE) blends with different amounts of a terpolymer based on glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), employed as a possible compatibilizer, were systematically examined. DMTA results show two distinct peaks for all neat blends associated with each phase. Melt crystallization degree of both phases in all the blends was observed to be reduced compared to pure components, except for that of PTT-rich phase in those blends with PTT as the matrix which slightly increases. Addition of the terpolymer to the system is found to effectively reduce the droplet size of the dispersed phase and increase phase adhesion. Also it increases the crystallinity of PTT in the system with PTT as the matrix. The influence of the compatibilizer is ascribed to the chemical interaction of PTT functional end groups with GMA functionalities. The efficiency of the terpolymer as a compatibilizer beyond 5 wt% content decreases which can be ascribed to the interface saturation and formation of micelles in the bulk phases. 相似文献

Changes in the microstructure of materials and their impact on reliability: experiments and modeling
Several types of microstructural changes in microelectronic solder materials are briefly discussed, namely the formation of
intermetallics, Kirkendall voiding, spinodal decomposition, and coarsening. Moreover, a theoretical framework, based on the
entropy principle, is developed by means of which constitutive equations can be derived that are necessary to understand and
simulate such processes. The resulting equations are specialized to binary alloys and then investigated numerically. Finally,
simulations of spinodal decomposition and coarsening are performed for the eutectic solder AgCu. The theoretical predictions
are compared with experiments.

Accurate and sensitive determination of hematopoietic chimerism is a crucial diagnostic measure after allogeneic stem cell transplantation to monitor engraftment and potentially residual disease. Short tandem repeat (STR) amplification, the current “gold standard” for chimerism assessment facilitates reliable accuracy, but is hampered by its limited sensitivity (≥1%). Digital PCR (dPCR) has been shown to combine exact quantification and high reproducibility over a very wide measurement range with excellent sensitivity (routinely ≤0.1%) and thus represents a promising alternative to STR analysis. We here aimed at developing a whole panel of digital-PCR based assays for routine diagnostic. To this end, we tested suitability of 52 deletion/insertion polymorphisms (DIPs) for duplex analysis in combination with either a reference gene or a Y-chromosome specific PCR. Twenty-nine DIPs with high power of discrimination and good performance were identified, optimized and technically validated. We tested the newly established assays on retrospective patient samples that were in parallel also measured by STR amplification and found excellent correlation. Finally, a screening plate for initial genotyping with DIP-specific duplex dPCR assays was designed for convenient assay selection. In conclusion, we have established a comprehensive dPCR system for precise and high-sensitivity measurement of hematopoietic chimerism, which should be highly useful for clinical routine diagnostics. 相似文献

Summary: Coupling reactions between terminal functionalized polymer chains were chosen for the synthesis of star‐like polymers consisting of polystyrene and polystyrene‐block‐poly[styrene‐co‐(butyl acrylate)] arms. For the preparation of terminal functionalized polymer chains a side reaction of the 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidine‐N‐oxyl (TEMPO) mediated free radical polymerization of methacrylates could be used successfully to convert TEMPO terminated polymers into end functionalized polymers. The number of functionalized monomer units attached to the polymer chain is directly related to the TEMPO concentration during this reaction. Different polystyrenes and polystyrene‐block‐poly[styrene‐co‐(butyl acrylate)] block copolymers were functionalized with a variable number of epoxide and alcohol groups at the chain end. For the determination of the optimal reaction parameters for the coupling reactions between these polymer chains, epoxy functionalized polystyrenes were converted with hydroxy functionalized polystyrenes under basic and acidic conditions. By activation with sodium hydride or boron trifluoride star‐like polymers were synthesized under mild conditions. The transfer of the reaction conditions to coupling reactions between end functionalized polystyrene‐block‐poly[styrene‐co‐(butyl acrylate)] copolymers showed that star‐like polymers with more than 12 arms were formed using boron trifluoride as activating agent.

Foodborne intoxications caused by the consumption of fish and other products of marine origin contaminated with bacterial
pathogens are an ever-present threat, either due to bacteria and/or its metabolites. In addition, the rapid spoilage of seafood
due to microbial activity, results in high economic losses. The development of the microbiota in seafood products depends
on the microbiological ambience of capture, processing and storage, and the applied preservation method. Thus, pathogenic
and spoilage bacterial species in seafood may come from the indigenous microbiota of the aquatic ambience or are introduced
by contamination during processing. Rapid and accurate bacterial species identification is essential for an effective control
program to ensure safety and quality of either processed or minimally processed seafood. In the present work, matrix-assisted
laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry was successfully applied to identify 26 bacterial strains isolated
from fresh fish and processed seafood samples. The approach was based on the comparison of unknown spectra to a reference
spectral library and demonstrated to be a fast and accurate technique for bacterial species differentiation, which can be
used for the rapid identification of foodborne pathogens and spoilage bacteria potentially present in products of marine origin. 相似文献

Subtilisin DY as well as alkaline protease from Bacillus licheniformis 41 p catalyze the hydrolysis of (1SR, 5RS, 6RS, 7RS)-7-acetoxy-6-acetoxymethyl-2-oxabicyclo[3.3.0]octan-3-one ( rac-1 ) with practically useful enantio- and regioselectivity. Under the hitherto found optimal conditions (1S, 5R, 6R, 7R)-7-hydroxy-6-hydroxymethyl-2-oxabicyclo[3.3.0]octan-3-one ( 4 ), an important intermediate in prostaglandin syntheses, could be prepared in a yield of 16% with an enantiomeric excess of 99%. This paper presents a principled analysis of various combinations of image features to determine their suitability for remote
eye tracking. It begins by reviewing the basic theory underlying the connection between eye image and gaze direction. Then
a set of approaches is proposed based on different combinations of well-known features and their behaviour is evaluated, taking
into account various additional criteria such as free head movement, and minimum hardware and calibration requirements. The
paper proposes a final method based on multiple glints and the pupil centre; the method is evaluated experimentally. Future
