The effect of flux-line cutting upon the magnetic behavior of hard superconductors subjected to a dc bias magnetic field Hz and a transverse field Hy undergoing half-wave oscillations of large amplitude is investigated theoretically. We have applied both the generalized
double critical-state model and the elliptic flux-line-cutting one to interpret available experimental results for VTi ribbons.

The rate of soil erosion in pine forests (Pinus halepensis) located in the Southeast of Madrid has been estimated using dendrochronological analysis based on the change in ring-growth pattern from concentric to eccentric when the root is exposed. Using 49 roots spread across five inclined areas, it has been found that the length and direction of the hillsides, as well as their vegetation cover affect the rate of erosion, while the slope itself does not. The erosion rates found for the different areas studied vary between 3.5 and 8.8 mm year(-1), that is between 40 and 101 t ha(-1) year(-1) respectively. These values are between 2 and 3 times greater than those predicted by USLE, for which this equation underestimates soil loss for Central Spain's Mediterranean conditions. Nonetheless, both methods (using dendrochronology to determine actual soil loss and theoretical prediction with USLE) are able to establish the same significant differences among the areas studied, allowing for the comparative estimate of the severity of the area's erosion problem. 相似文献

The erosive power of frequent light rainfalls is studied in this paper. Field experiments of simulated rainfall (Intensity, 21 mm h(-1) and kinetic energy, 13.5 J m(-2) mm(-1)) were conducted over 8 bounded USLE plots (80 m(2) each) with a slope of 10%. In 4 plots the soil was almost bare (<4% vegetation cover); the other 4 plots had almost full cover with natural vegetation in one year. Runoff and sediment yield was recorded. The results revealed the efficiency of vegetation cover reducing runoff and sediments. Runoff and sediments were negligible in covered plots. Therefore, in bare plots, although sediment yield was generally low, averaging 74+/-43 kg ha(-1), the mean of runoff achieved a coefficient of 35%, this magnitude has to be taken into consideration in this region verging on aridity. Rains around 13.5 J m(-2) mm(-1) of kinetic energy are quite frequent in the study area (34% of recorded rains en 12 years). If we would consider the usual lower limits from the literature, we would be ignoring an important percent of natural rainfall episodes. 相似文献

Cross contamination is one of the most important contributing factors in foodborne illnesses originating in household environments. The objective of this research was to determine the transfer coefficients between a contaminated domestic slicing machine and a cooked meat product, during slicing. The microorganisms tested were Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive) and Escherichia coli O157:H7 (Gram negative). The results showed that both microorganisms were able to transfer to all slices examined (20 successively sliced) and at different inoculum levels on the blade (108, 106 and 104 cfu/blade). The results also showed that the number of log cfu transferred per slice, during slicing, decreased logarithmically for both microorganisms at inoculum levels of 8 and 6 log cfu/blade. The type of microorganism significantly influenced transfer coefficients (p < 0.05) and there was an interaction between inoculum level and transfer coefficient for S. aureus (p < 0.05), but not E. coli O157:H7. Finally, to describe bacterial transfer during slicing, two models (log-linear and Weibull) were fitted to concentration on slice data for both microorganisms (at 6 and 8 log cfu/blade), obtaining a good fit to data (R2 0.73). 相似文献

The presence of heavy metals in big game meat may pose a risk to human health. The main objective of this paper is to carry out a risk assessment study (using a probabilistic and point-estimate approach) of lead intake by consumption of red deer and wild boar meat in Southern Spain based on Spanish data collected in the period 2003-2006. In general, the concentration levels found for wild boar meat (mean?=?1291?μg?kg(-1)) were much higher than those observed in red deer meat (mean?=?326?μg?kg(-1)). The results from a point-estimate risk assessment showed that the estimated average intake of lead among different exposure scenarios varied from 0.1 to 6.5 and from 0.3 to 38?μg?kg(-1)?week(-1) for red deer and wild boar meat, respectively; and from 0.3 to 35?μg?kg(-1)?week(-1) for individuals consuming both red deer and wild boar meat, and that the estimated intake of lead by consumption of big game meat differed significantly between hunters and non-hunters, it being higher for hunters. Besides this, results from the probabilistic risk assessment study corroborated the fact that risk is greater in hunter populations, reaching a maximum in individuals consuming only wild boar and both types of meat, with 0.4% and 0.2% of the population above the provisional tolerable weekly intake (PTWI), respectively. Likewise, the hunter populations consuming wild boar and both types of big game meat (red deer and wild boar meat) were exposed to the maximum lead level (56?μg?kg(-1)?week(-1)), which corresponded approximately to 224% of the PTWI. Further data and studies will be needed to give a complete risk estimation in which it will be crucial to consider the contribution to the lead intake level of other foods in the diet of both population groups. 相似文献
