A combined Fourier transform IR (FT-IR) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study shows that copper in ‘excessively exchanged’ Cu/ZSM-5 is initially present as OH bridged Cu2+ dimers, besides isolated Cu2+ ions. Upon heating, the dimers lose water and become oxygen bridged [Cu---O---Cu]2+ complexes. These are ‘EPR-silent’, presumably as a consequence of antiferromagnetic coupling of the unpaired electrons in each Cu2+; they are, however, detectable by their perturbation of the lattice vibrations, detected by a FT-IR band at 918–923 cm−1. Reduction by hydrogen or carbon monoxide converts the [Cu---O---Cu]2+ complexes to pairs of Cu+ ions, while the color changes from green to grey. Reductive adsorption of nitrogen monoxide on Cu2+ results in the formation of Cu+---NO+. Destructive thermal desorption of nitrogen monoxide at 100°C not only restores the Cu2+ ions, but also appears to regenerate the [Cu---O---Cu]2+ complex. The results suggest that pairs of copper ions are instrumental in the catalytic decomposition of nitrogen monoxide. 相似文献

We have cloned from murine erythroleukemia (MEL) cells, thymus, and stomach the cDNA encoding the Ca2+-gated K+ (KCa) channel, mIK1, the mouse homolog of hIK1 (Ishii, T. M., Silvia, C., Hirschberg, B., Bond, C. T., Adelman, J. P., and Maylie, J. (1997) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci.(U. S. A. 94, 11651-11656). mIK1 mRNA was detected at varied levels in many tissue types. mIK1 KCa channel activity expressed in Xenopus oocytes closely resembled the Kca of red cells (Gardos channel) and MEL cells in its single channel conductance, lack of voltage-sensitivity of activation, inward rectification, and Ca2+ concentration dependence. mIK1 also resembled the erythroid channel in its pharmacological properties, mediating whole cell and unitary currents sensitive to low nM concentrations of both clotrimazole (CLT) and its des-imidazolyl metabolite, 2-chlorophenyl-bisphenyl-methanol, and to low nM concentrations of iodocharybdotoxin. Whereas control oocytes subjected to hypotonic swelling remained swollen, mIK1 expression conferred on oocytes a novel, Ca2+-dependent, CLT-sensitive regulatory volume decrease response. Hypotonic swelling of voltage-clamped mIK1-expressing oocytes increased outward currents that were Ca2+-dependent, CLT-sensitive, and reversed near the K+ equilibrium potential. mIK1 mRNA levels in ES cells increased steadily during erythroid differentiation in culture, in contrast to other KCa mRNAs examined. A clone encoding the guinea pig (gp) min K potassium channel was isolated and expressed in Xenopus oocytes. The currents, gpIsK, exhibit many of the electrophysiological and pharmacological properties characteristic of gpIKs, the slow component of the delayed rectifier potassium conductance in guinea pig cardiac myocytes. Depolarizing commands evoke outward potassium currents that activate slowly, with time constants on the order of seconds. The currents are blocked by the class III antiarrhythmic compound clofilium but not by the sotalol derivative E4031 or low concentrations of lanthanum. Like IKs in guinea pig myocytes, gpIsK is modulated by stimulation of protein kinase A and protein kinase C (PKC). In contrast to rat and mouse IsK, which are decreased upon stimulation of PKC, myocyte IK and gpIsK in oocytes are increased after PKC stimulation. Substitution of an asparagine residue at position 102 by serine (N102S), the residue found in the analogous position of the mouse and rat min K proteins, results in decreased gpIsK in response to PKC stimulation. These results support the hypothesis that the min K protein underlies the slow component of the delayed rectifier potassium current in ventricular myocytes and account for the species-specific responses to stimulation of PKC. 相似文献

Emerging trends are reshaping the work of school nurses and other school service personnel. With respect to direct service and consultation, school nurses increasingly are called upon to deal with psychosocial and mental health problems. Beyond that, school nurses must continue to actuate their roles as advocates, catalysts, brokers, and facilitators of the type of reforms that can effectively address barriers to student learning and promote healthy development. Continuing education is seen as key to enabling school nurses to build capacity for such roles and functions. The newly formed Center for Mental Health in Schools at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) hopes to be of assistance in this respect. This presentation highlights the Center's orientation to mental health in schools and offers a draft outline for related continuing education. 相似文献

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether therapy with nitroglycerin (GTN) would lead to abnormal coronary artery responses to the endothelium-dependent vasodilator acetylcholine. BACKGROUND: Nitroglycerin therapy is associated with specific biochemical changes in the vasculature that may lead to increased vascular sensitivity to vasoconstrictors. METHODS: Patients were randomized to continuous transdermal GTN, 0.6 mg/h (n = 8), or no therapy (n = 7), for 5 days prior to a diagnostic catheterization. Patients had similar risk factors for endothelial dysfunction. Quantitative angiography was performed in the morning to measure the mean luminal diameter of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) in response to intracoronary acetylcholine (peak concentration, 10(-4) mol/liter). The transdermal preparation was removed from the GTN group, and 3 h later experimental procedures were repeated. RESULTS: In the morning, the GTN group experienced greater coronary constriction in response to acetylcholine infusion than those not receiving GTN (-19.6+/-4.2 vs. -3.8+/-3.0%; p = 0.01). Three hours later, the GTN group continued to display greater constriction to acetylcholine (-24.1+/-5.9%) as compared to the non-GTN group (-1.8+/-4.8%). When the morning and afternoon responses to acetylcholine were compared, the increase in coronary constriction in the GTN group was greater than the change observed in the non-GTN group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that therapy with GTN causes abnormal coronary vasomotor responses to the endothelium-dependent vasodilator acetylcholine, changes that were persistent for up to 3 hours after GTN discontinuation. This nitrate-associated vasomotor dysfunction has implications with respect to the development of nitrate tolerance and the potential for adverse events during nitrate withdrawal. 相似文献

The paper presents the results of examination of 110 alcoholic patients who have committed criminal actions and were recognized as irresponsible at forensic examination. It was established that wide spectrum of mental disorders were present in such cases--from superacute psychotic states (15 patients) and acute disorders (49) to chronic psychoses (33) and encephalopathy (13). According to clinical manifestations mental disorders correspond in such cases to reactions of exogenic type. In contrast to general medical departments where patients with alcoholic delirium prevail, the studied sample of patients had primarily psychoses with hallucinative-delirious and delirious disorders. Disorders of personality manifested as typical alcoholic, asthenoneurotic, psychopathic-like, residual-psychotic, psychoorganic changes and partial dementia (19 cases). 相似文献

35 patients with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) were treated by hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) and caffetin preparation. A significant decrease of pain was observed in all the patients after the treatment course. Intensity of pain was diminished according to visual analogous scale. Meanwhile considerable regression of autonomic disorders and weakening of anxious and depressive manifestations was noted too. The tendency to normalization of evoked skin potentials was also found. Some elevation of the threshold of nociceptive reflex was conditioned by displacement toward general increase of antinociception after the treatment. Effect of HBO therapy persisted during 6 months in 87% of the patients. Efficiency of caffetin was restricted by the time of its administration. The conclusion was made about possibility of successful treatment of CRPS patients by both methods. 相似文献
