This survey investigates multipath routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). The main objectives of multipath routing protocols are to provide reliable communication and to ensure load balancing as well as to improve quality of service (QoS) of MANETs. These multipath protocols are broadly classified into five categories based on their major goals. The goals are to improve delay, provide reliability, reduce overhead, maximize network life and support hybrid routing. Multipath routing protocols address issues such as multiple paths discovery and maintaining these paths. Issues, objectives, performances, advantages and disadvantages of these protocols are investigated and summarized. A checklist is provided as a guideline so that a network designer can choose an appropriate multipath routing protocol to meet the network's application objectives. 相似文献

The dynamic job shop scheduling (DJSS) problem occurs when some real-time events are taken into account in the ordinary job shop scheduling problem. Most researches about the DJSS problem have focused on methods in which the problem’s input data structure and their probable relationship are not considered in the optimization process while some useful information can be extracted from such data. In this paper, the variable neighborhood search (VNS) combined with the k-means algorithm as a modified VNS (MVNS) algorithm is proposed to address the DJSS problem. The k-means algorithm as a cluster analysis algorithm is used to place similar jobs according to their processing time into the same clusters. Jobs from different clusters are considered to have greater probability to be selected when an adjacent for a solution is made in an optimization process using the MVNS algorithm. To deal with the dynamic nature of the problem, an event-driven policy is also selected. Computational results obtained using the proposed method in comparison with VNS and other common algorithms illustrate better performance in a variety of shop floor conditions. 相似文献

We replace the traditional grating used in a dispersive spectrometer with a multiplex holographic grating to increase the spectral range sensed by the instrument. The multiplexed grating allows us to measure three different, overlapping spectral bands on a color digital focal plane. The detector's broadband color filters, along with a computational inversion algorithm, let us disambiguate measurements made from the three bands. The overlapping spectral bands allow us to measure a greater spectral bandwidth than a traditional spectrometer with the same sized detector. Additionally, our spectrometer uses a static coded aperture mask in the place of a slit. The aperture mask allows increased light throughput, offsetting the photon loss at the broadband filters. We present our proof-of-concept dispersion multiplexing spectrometer design with experimental measurements to verify its operation. 相似文献

The analysis of a slitless volume holographic spectrometer is presented in detail. The spectrometer is based on a spherical beam volume hologram followed by a Fourier-transforming lens and a CCD. It is shown that the spectrometer is not sensitive to the incident angle of the input beam for the practical range of applications. A holographic spectrometer based on the conventional implementation is also analyzed, and the results are used to compare the performance of the proposed method with the conventional one. The experimental results are consistent with the theoretical study. It is also shown that the slitless volume holographic spectrometer lumps three elements (the entrance slit, the collimator, and the diffractive element) of the conventional spectrometer into one spherical beam volume hologram. Based on the unique features of the slitless volume holographic spectrometer, we believe it is a good candidate for portable spectroscopy for environmental and biological applications. 相似文献

The number of wearable wireless sensors is expected to grow to 400 million by the year 2014, while the number of operational mobile subscribers has already passed the 5.2 billion mark in 2011. This growth results in an increasing number of mobile applications including: Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, Electronic-Health (eHealth), and Mobile-Health (mHealth). A number of emerging mobile applications that require 3G and 4G mobile networks for data transport relate to telemedicine, including establishing, maintaining, and transmitting health-related information, research, education, and training. This review paper takes a closer look at these applications, specifically with regard to the healthcare industry and their underlying link technologies. The authors believe that the BlackBerry platform and the associated infrastructure (i.e., BlackBerry Enterprise Server) is a logical and practical solution for eHealth, mHealth, sensor and M2M deployments, which are considered in this paper. 相似文献

Abstract The authors report that 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, [OMIM][BF4], and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, [BMIM][PF6], ionic liquids were synthesized and tested for their capability to desulfurization from model of gasoline. The results show that the aromatic sulfur compounds with higher π-electron density were favorably adsorbed. The results also show that [BF4]?-based ionic liquid displays higher extraction efficiencies than [PF6]?-based ionic liquid. Thus, it was shown that the extractive ability of the imidazolium ionic liquids was dominated by the structure of cation and anion. It is also found that the sizes of ionic liquids are important factors affecting the absorption capacity for aromatic sulfur compounds. 相似文献

Wheel surface condition plays an important role in the grinding operation. Grinding wheel loading, meaning chip accumulation in the space between grains, leads to deteriorating wheel cutting ability and causes excessive force and temperature. This paper presents an analytical model of wheel loading phenomena as a function of cutting parameters, wheel structure, and material properties. The model is based on the adhesion of workpiece material to abrasive grain surface. It is validated by experimental results from grinding nickel-based superalloy with cubic boron nitride vitrified wheel. This model considers wheel specifications including abrasive grains size and the number of cutting edges. Cutting parameters and process temperature are the other determinant factors. On the basis of this model and empirical results, the effects of the various process parameters are presented. 相似文献

We show that by placing a slab of semiconductor material between two photonic bandgap (PBG) mirrors, waveguide modes at frequencies out of the PBG can be obtained. These modes are similar to the modes of a conventional dielectric slab waveguide. Using these modes, we can obtain very good coupling between a PBG waveguide and a dielectric slab waveguide with similar slab properties. We discuss the properties of these slab modes and outline the guideline for the optimization of the PBG waveguides based on these properties 相似文献
