Crisis phenomena upon evaporation in grid capillary and porous coatings and arterial structures of heat pipes

Radiation-Chemical Behavior of TBP in Hydrocarbon and Chlorohydrocarbon Diluents under Conditions of Reprocessing of Spent Fuel from Nuclear Power Plants

Experiments were performed for comparative assessment of the effect of ionizing radiation on the service characteristics of 30% TBP solutions in various diluents: hexachlorobutadiene (HCBD), mixtures of n-paraffins (RED diluent), and fraction of naphthenic hydrocarbons (RZh diluent). The following main parameters were chosen for comparative assessment of the quality of irradiated extractant solutions: composition and behavior of diluent radiolysis products, effect of diluents on the TBP radiolysis, and aggregative stability of emulsions in the main operations of the extraction cycle. The service life of the extraction mixtures was estimated from variation of the above parameters with the irradiation dose. Principles for choosing solvents with increased service life under irradiation were substantiated.     

Effect of the kind of heat tent of tools on friction in plastic deformation of automobile sheet

In sheet stamping, friction appears between the tool and the deformed preform. It is of interest to evaluate the difference in the friction coefficient in stamping by tools subjected to different kinds of heat treatment and chemical heat treatment.     

Ignition of a fuel-air mixture with a high-speed plasma jet

Equilibrium and Kinetic Properties of Methane Hydrate

During methane dissolution in water in a closed space, the pressure varies exponentially with time until the formation of methane hydrate. A model of this process is proposed that fits experimental data well. The methane concentration at the onset of hydrate formation is calculated as a function of temperature and pressure.     

Development of waste-free technology for freeing exhaust air from man-made fibre plants from hydrogen sulfide

Conclusions Devising waste-free technology for the process of cleaning up exhaust air from man-made fibre plants from hydrogen sulfide is tied in with the development of methods for utilization of the main oxidation products of the absorbed hydrogen sulfide — finely dispersed sulfur and sodium thiosulfate.A process for the preparation of an acarofungicide based on finely divided sulfur has been developed and realized in industry; this is a valuable product which is needed to fulfill the the goals of the Food Program. The clinical significance of MDR-1 gene expression in the hemopoietic cells of patients with acute leukemias in different phases of the disease

AIM: Analysis of cytostatic therapy effects on expression of gene MDR-1 in hemopoietic cells of patients with acute leukemia (AL) in complete clinicohematological remission (CCHR). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 48 AL patients. 27 of them were untreated, 25 were resistant to or had recurrent AL. 4 patients were followed up. Bone marrow mononuclear fraction was investigated. Expression of MDR-1 gene in the cells was evaluated at hybridization. RESULTS: High expression of MDR-1 gene occurred in leukemic blast cells either upon achievement of CCHR or at least 6 months after its onset. When using schemes of chemotherapy containing two potential inductors of gene MDR-1, expression of this gene was registered significantly more frequently than in using schemes based on one inducing drug (p < 0.05). Frequency of occurrence of enhanced expression of gene MDR-1 in leukemic blasts significantly correlated with frequency of CCHR (p < 0.05). Correlation between occurrence of the gene's expression in normal hemopoietic cells in CCHR and occurrence of early AL recurrences was not found. CONCLUSION: The findings may facilitate design of new AL treatment programs.
