The development of visualizing tools to monitor unsaturated moisture flow in cement-based materials is of great importance, as most degradation processes in cement-based materials are connected to and take place in the presence moisture. This paper investigates the ability of electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) to image two-dimensional (2D) unsaturated moisture flow in cement-based materials. In ECT, the electrical permittivity distribution within an object is reconstructed based on measured capacitances between electrodes attached on the object’s surface. In a series of experiments, mortar specimens with and without discrete cracks were imaged with ECT during a 2D moisture ingress. The results show that ECT is able to monitor the evolution of the moisture flow, and to approximate the shape and position of the moisture front. These findings indicate that ECT is a viable method for monitoring and visualizing 2D unsaturated moisture flow in cement-based materials in the presence and absence of discrete cracks.  相似文献

This paper describes a validation study performed by comparing the Climate-SAF Surface Albedo Product (SAL) to ground truth observations over Greenland and the ice-covered Arctic Ocean. We compare Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR)-based albedo retrievals to data from the Greenland Climate Network (GCN) weather stations and the floating ice station Tara for polar summer 2007. The AVHRR dataset consists of 2755 overpasses. The overpasses are matched to in situ observations spatially and temporally. The SAL algorithm presented here derives the surface broadband albedo from AVHRR channels 1 and 2 using an atmospheric correction, temporal sampling of an empirical Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF), and a narrow-to-broadband conversion algorithm. The satellite product contains algorithms for snow, sea ice, vegetation, bare soil, and water albedo. At the Summit and DYE-2 stations on the Greenland ice sheet, instantaneous SAL RMSE is 0.073. The heterogeneous surface conditions at satellite pixel scale over the stations near the Greenland west coast increase RMSE to > 0.12. Over Tara, the instantaneous SAL RMSE is 0.069. The BRDF sampling approach reduces RMSE over the ice sheet to 0.053, and to 0.045 over Tara. Taking into account various sources of uncertainty for both satellite retrievals and in situ observations, we conclude that SAL agrees with in situ observations within their limits of accuracy and spatial representativeness.  相似文献

Highly sulfide-rich (approximately 83 % pyrite), potentially acid-generating mine tailings were sub-aqueously deposited in the Don Rouyn old quarry pit from 1997 to 2000. The site covers approximately 7 ha near Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. Various in situ measurements and laboratory tests were performed during the summer and autumn of 2008, 2009, and 2010 to: characterize tailings samples; monitor water quality in the final effluent, shallow water cover, and groundwater around the pit, and; study tailings erosion and resuspension. In situ measurements included the vertical profile and spatial distribution of pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, electric conductivity, and redox potential. Suspended tailings, wind speed, and direction were monitored. Groundwater, cover water, and final effluent water samples were chemically analyzed and suspended sediment concentrations (SSCs) was determined. Physical, mineralogical, and chemical tailings properties were also determined. Results show that the quality of the groundwater, cover, and effluent waters complied with Canadian and Quebec regulations. SSCs were also within regulation limits. No association was found between SSC and hydrodynamic conditions (wind speed, fetch, etc.). Although theoretical calculations indicated a critical wind speed of at least 10 m/s for tailings resuspension, suspended sediment was observed for wind speeds at <10 m/s.  相似文献

Acid phosphatase activity was determined in 15 cultivars from four species of yam. A 12-fold purification of the enzyme from Dioscorea rotundata (cv. chikakwondo) gave a homogeneous preparation as demonstrated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. This enzyme preparation has an apparent molecular weight of 115 000 ±2000 and an optimum activity at a pH of 5·20 and a temperature of 50°C. The Km of the enzyme is 3·81 mM with disodium p-nitrophenylphosphate (p-NNP) as a substrate. The energy of activation, heat of activation, energy of inactivation and heat of inactivation are 7·0, 6·4, 4·41 and 4·34 kcal M?1, respectively. Although it has very little activity with most organic phosphoric acid esters, it is significantly inhibited by Ca2+, Hg2+ and EDTA and activated by Mg2+. The enzyme has a half-life of 50,17 or 13 days, respectively, when stored at 6-8°C, 0°C or room temperature (29±2°C).  相似文献
