Doped and co-doped ceria ceramics are used as electrolyte materials in solid oxide fuel cells. In this work, ceria-based oxides, Ce0.90Gd0.06Y0.02M0.02O2?δ (M?=?Ca, Fe, La, and Sr) were prepared by conventional as well as microwave processing from the precursors prepared by the mixed oxide method. The consolidated calcined powders in pellet form were sintered in microwave energy at 1400°C for 20 min and in an electric furnace of IR radiation at 1400°C for 6 h. The x-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that all the compositions were crystallized into a cubic fluorite structure. Surface morphology of the sintered products was studied using scanning electron microscopy and the microhardness was investigated using the Vickers hardness test. The comparative results analysis shows that the microwave-sintered samples have uniform grain growth, higher density and higher microhardness than the corresponding conventionally sintered products. The microwave-sintered sample of composition Ce0.90Gd0.06Y0.02Sr0.02O2?δ was found to have the highest microhardness among the four compositions due to its high density and smallest grain size.  相似文献

Cryogenic heat exchangers are commonly used for industrial processes, such as air separation and natural gas liquefaction. Generally, the performance of heat exchangers is analyzed adopting constant properties for the working fluid. But, in cryogenic heat exchangers, fluids reach their critical states with significant variations in their properties. The current work is based on the effect of fluid property variations in the performance analysis of a two-fluid countercurrent cryogenic heat exchanger subject to ambient heat in a leak. Finite element method–subdomain method is used to conduct the performance analysis. The effect of fluid property variations is analyzed considering effectiveness, ∈, as the performance parameter. The percentage deviation in the effectiveness value on considering fluid property variation is determined. The relationship between effectiveness ∈ and the number of transfer units (NTUs) is obtained by plotting the ∈-NTU curve by varying the mass flow rate of the fluid flow. A maximum deviation of 16.108% in the effectiveness and 58.734% in the hot fluid exit temperature is obtained by considering fluid property variation.  相似文献

An easy‐to‐use matrix‐based method for the systematic synthesis of distillation configurations using less than n‐1 columns to separate any zeotropic n‐component feed into n product streams is described. The method is easily extended to obtain additional thermally coupled configurations. The only information needed to generate the configurations is the number of components in the feed, or equivalently, the number of distinct composition final product streams. We have successfully enumerated configurations for feeds containing up to eight components. This has resulted in a large number of hitherto unknown configurations even for four‐component separations. Some of the novel configurations generated using the method have substantially lower heat duty than the previously known fewer column configurations for a four‐component feed separation. Therefore, it is essential to include these novel configurations in the search space to find the optimal distillation configuration with fewer columns for a given application. © 2011 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 58: 2479–2494, 2012  相似文献

This paper deals with the design of robust observer based output feedback control law for the stabilisation of an uncertain nonlinear system and subsequently apply the developed method for the regulation of plasma glucose concentration in Type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients. The principal objective behind the proposed design is to deal with the issues of intra‐patient parametric variation and non‐availability of all state variables for measurement. The proposed control technique for the T1D patient model is based on the attractive ellipsoid method (AEM). The observer and controller conditions are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI), thus allowing to compute easily both the observer and controller gains. The closed‐loop response obtained using the designed controller avoids adverse situations of hypoglycemia and post‐prandial hyperglycemia under uncertain conditions. Further to validate the robustness of the design, closed‐loop simulations of random 200 virtual T1D patients considering parameters within the considered ranges are presented. An easily accessible anthraquinone-benzodithiophene-based high bandgap polymer (PTAq) was synthesized by Stille coupling reactions in remarkably high yield (96.5%). The highest occupied molecular orbital energy level of the polymer was estimated from the onset of oxidation in a cyclic voltammetry study to be −5.7 eV. PTAq showed an orange-to-green color switching with the application of a 1.0-V external potential to the polymer film, which was visible to the naked eye. The optical behavior change was also monitored using ultraviolet–visible absorption spectroscopy and revealed a respectable 75% transmittance change when the polymer film was subjected to a 1.0-V external potential. Progressive visual analytics (PVA) has emerged in recent years to manage the latency of data analysis systems. When analysis is performed progressively, rough estimates of the results are generated quickly and are then improved over time. Analysts can therefore monitor the progression of the results, steer the analysis algorithms, and make early decisions if the estimates provide a convincing picture. In this article, we describe interface design guidelines for helping users understand progressively updating results and make early decisions based on progressive estimates. To illustrate our ideas, we present a prototype PVA tool called Insights Feed for exploring Twitter data at scale. As validation, we investigate the tradeoffs of our tool when exploring a Twitter dataset in a user study. We report the usage patterns in making early decisions using the user interface, guiding computational methods, and exploring different subsets of the dataset, compared to sequential analysis without progression.  相似文献

Although standards for orifice flow meter design, installation, and calibration are supported herein, noncompliant devices exist in many pilot-, lab-scale, and on-board applications. For these, a common calibration practice is to preserve the ideal square root relation and determine a device specific discharge coefficient value. This work provides theoretical and empirical analyses to support relaxing the square root relation between orifice pressure drop and flow rate for noncompliant devices. The resulting power law relation is shown to improve accuracy, precision, and rangeability. Whether a device specific square root or power law model is used, it requires off-line or in-line calibration data. As such, a power law calibration model may only be useful for on-board and small-scale applications.  相似文献

Samples of various concentrations were prepared and kept unsintered for a period of three years to study the consistency of composition prepared and structural evolution of glass. The expanded peaks in the Raman spectra arise due to thermal agitation, and a Boltzmann type of distribution was expected in the silicate gels. The behavior of the gels during the dehydroxylation and dehydration is conditioned by its microstructure, which depends upon the physical conditions, I.e., pH, and drying conditions.  相似文献

A novel, fast, and cheaper method has been developed for the synthesis of fully cubic calcium-stabilized zirconia (ZrO2) of composition Ca0.1Zr0.9O1.9 by dissolution of calcium oxide in monoclinic ZrO2 for the first time using microwave energy. In this process, the precursors have been prepared by the mixed-oxide method taking the constituents in their stoichiometric ratio. The samples have been allowed to absorb microwave radiation in the presence of a polymeric susceptor. The susceptor absorbs the microwave radiation at room temperature and increases the temperature of the sample, where it starts interacting with microwave radiation. The susceptor burns off at a higher temperature without reacting with the sample. The cubic Ca0.1Zr0.9O1.9 has been prepared at a temperature of 1100°C within 5 min.  相似文献
