While most of the industries are striving very hard to produce totally lead-free electronic products, many concerns remain regarding lead-free solder joint reliability. One major concern is the robustness of gold metallization of the electronic components for lead-free soldering. Increasing gold content has been known to result in embrittlement and early failure in electronic assemblies. Therefore, information about the lead-free solder/gold metallization interdiffusion at high-temperature applications is very important for controlling the technological processes for the reliability of the electronic interconnects. The challenges of solder/gold metallization interdiffusion during high-temperature application/test are gold embrittlement, intermetallics growth, void formation, and also tin-whisker formation. This paper illustrates few case histories of such challenges. Importance of the thickness of the gold termination has been discussed and some parameters to optimizing the thickness of the gold termination have been suggested. Some remedial measures are suggested to control the lead-free solder/gold metallization diffusion in the electronics interconnects.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new structure of decision feedback equalizer that exploits the cyclostationary properties of digitally modulated signals to mitigate interference. In the proposed structure, the forward filter of the conventional DFE is replaced by a cyclic filter. It is assumed that the desired and the interference signals use some mutually different signaling attributes, for example symbol rates, centre frequency etc. The resulting structure is evaluated in the presence of up to six strong interfering signals, a scenario that is typically found in wireless cellular systems. The proposed structure provides performance gains for some modulation formats but it reduces to the conventional DFE for other signal formats.  相似文献

Remote sensing potentially offers a quick and nondestructive method for monitoring plant canopy condition and development. In this study, multispectral reflectance and thermal emittance data were used in conjunction with micrometeorological data in a simple model to estimate above-ground total dry phytomass production of several spring wheat canopies. The fraction of absorbed photosynthetic radiation (PAR) by plants was estimated from measurements of visible and near-infrared canopy reflectance. Canopy radiation temperature was used as a crop stress indicator in the model. Estimated above-ground phytomass values based on this model were strongly correlated with the measured phytomass values for a wide range of climate and plant-canopy conditions.  相似文献

The tagged user analysis (TUA) is a generic approximate method developed to analyze random access protocols for finite-user finite-buffer systems that avoids complexities of Markovian analysis by using available queueing results. In this paper, TUA method is extended to the analysis of finite buffer S-ALOHA operating over flat fading radio channels when the user population is spatially distributed. The expressions for system performance indices are derived. It is shown that for moderate number of active users, the simulation and analytical results have a close fit.  相似文献

A homologous series of new gemini cationic surfactants were synthesized and characterized using micro elemental analysis, FTIR, 1H-NMR and mass spectra. The surface activities of these amphiphiles were determined based on the data of surface tension. Critical micelle concentration, effectiveness of the surface tension reduction, efficiency of adsorption, maximum surface excess, minimum surface area and critical packing parameter were evaluated. The effect of cationic micelles on solubilization of anionic azo dye, sulforhodamine B (Acid Red 52) in aqueous micellar solution of the synthesized gemini cationic surfactants was studied at pH 6.9 ± 0.5 and 25 °C. The results showed that the solubility of dye rose with increasing surfactant concentration as a consequence of some association between the dye and the micelles. It was also observed that the aggregation of surfactant and dye takes place at a surfactant concentration below the CMC of the individual surfactant. The partition coefficients between the bulk water and surfactant micelles as well as the Gibbs energies of distribution of dye between the bulk water and surfactant micelles were calculated using a pseudo-phase model. The effect of the hydrophobic chain length of Gemini cationic surfactants on the distribution parameters was also reported. The results show favorable solubilization of dye in cationic micelles.  相似文献

Stretchable electronics can be used for numerous advanced applications such as soft and wearable actuators, sensors, bio-implantable devices, and surgical tools because of their ability to conform to curvilinear surfaces, including human skin. The efficacy of these devices depends on the development of stretchable geometries such as interconnection-based configurations and the associated mechanics that helps to achieve optimum configurations. This work presents the essential mechanics of silicon (Si) island-interconnection structures, which include horseshoe and spiral interconnections, without reducing the areal efficiency. In particular, this study demonstrates the range of the geometrical parameters where they have a high stretchability and cyclic life. The numerical results predict the areas that are prone to breaking followed by experimental validation. The figure-of-merit for these configurations is achieved by mapping the fracture-free zones for in-plane and out-of-plane stretching with essential implications in stretchable and wearable system design. Furthermore, this work demonstrates the mechanical response for a range of materials (i.e., copper, gold, aluminum, silver, and graphene) that experience the plastic deformations in contrast to conventionally used Si-based devices that represent the extended usage for advanced stretchable electronic devices. The detailed mechanics of these configurations provides comprehensive guidelines to manufacture wearable and stretchable electronic devices.  相似文献

Antenna diversity is an important technique to combat fading and reduce cochannel interference (CCI). In this paper, we present an analytical approach to derive bit error rate (BER) for Optimum Combining (OC) and Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) in the presence of CCI. The paper has two parts. In the first part, the analysis of BER for OC with two cochannel interferers and MRC with an arbitrary number of interferers is presented for Marray antenna systems under the assumption that the channels of users are independent of each other. In the second part, the analysis of BER for OC and MRC in the presence of one dominant cochannel interferer is presented for dual antenna systems by assuming that the channels of the desired user or cochannel interferer are correlated. For DPSK signal, an exact BER expression is derived. The work presented here also yields an upper bound for BPSK or QAM signal based on the results of Foschini and Salz (1983).  相似文献

The wired networks have been traditionally used in monitoring and control of industrial plants. The trend is changing with the fast development of wireless technologies, which are challenging the wired technologies. This paper concerns with the issues related to the design of wireless network for monitoring and control of an industrial plant. In particular, measurements were conducted inside a steel plant to characterize the radio propagation environment and make a choice on a suitable technology. The channel impulse response (CIR) is measured at 1.8?GHz and from the collected data a number of link parameters are extracted. The measured CIR is also used to simulate performance of a number of data transmission formats. Finally, a number of wireless technologies are evaluated to determine their suitability to the characterized environment.  相似文献
